HAL BRADY: Welcome New Year 2025

Pictures and videos as businesses flood after Storm Bert causes chaosMinnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell maintained an upbeat and positive demeanor after guiding his team to a 27-25 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in a divisional clash that featured an intense fourth quarter. As thrilled as he was, however, O’Connell knows the focus now shifts to preparing his players for their next showdown against a team he called “one of the best teams in football all year long.” Next Sunday, the Detroit Lions will host the Vikings for their second matchup of the season, a regular-season finale at Ford Field that will decide not only the NFC North title but also the NFC’s No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. RELATED: Detroit Lions will host Vikings in winner-take-all season finale next week The Vikings improved to 8-1 at home this season with the win over the Packers. After the game, O’Connell reflected on what locking up home-field advantage would mean for the team and the city of Minnesota, while also acknowledging the challenge posed by the Lions. “It would be phenomenal, but it is going to be an absolute challenge going on the road to a very hostile place and a team that’s had a ton of success,” O’Connell told reporters. “We have nothing but confidence for the team we’re going to play this week, and we’ve got to go earn it with really great preparation. “Late in the year, December football was something I wanted to make sure we were good about, and I think we’ll finish that 5-0 as we click over into January. But honestly, we’ve really been in January for a few weeks now, in my mind.” During Sunday’s game at U.S. Bank Stadium, Vikings running back Aaron Jones suffered an injury and was unavailable to finish the game, concluding with 12 carries for 47 yards. O’Connell provided an update on Jones’ condition. “Aaron Jones did get a quad contusion at some point and was working his way through it. He had some really good runs, but we decided to pull him,” O’Connell said. “I thought Ty Chandler showed up, making some physical runs, getting downhill fresh. Pairing him with Cam [Akers] there in the second half was a winning formula to get some of those plays off, either in tempo or in the play-pass world.” Jones is currently the NFL’s 10th-leading rusher, with 1,046 yards and five touchdowns this season. Vikings outside linebacker Pat Jones sustained a significant injury, and O’Connell said the team remains uncertain about the early prognosis. “Hopefully, we avoided kind of a super long-term injury, but I won’t know much more than that until he gets fully evaluated,” O’Connell said. “But, expecting him probably to miss a little bit of time. Like I said, I don’t know what that looks like as of right now.” The fourth-year linebacker has 19 tackles and seven sacks this season, ranking third on the Vikings behind Jonathan Greenard and Andrew Van Ginkel, who each have 11.

Victor Wembanyama plays 1-on-1 chess with fans in New YorkThe 1000 Hours subseries of the DragonKingKarl Classic Wrestling Show is all about the pioneer era of wrestling with myself, author of the DragonKingKarl Pioneer Era Pro Wrestling Omnibus , as the host. We continue to work our way through the book and are now up to just prior to the 1870 Detroit International Tournament. It was an era when wrestling started to get more organized. Harry Hill comes onto the scene and will play a major role in the development of the game. The early players are coming onto the board, so let’s discuss them. Click Here to Listen (sub needed)Victor Wembanyama went to a park in New York City and played 1-on-1 with fans on Saturday. He even lost a couple of games. Not in basketball, though. Wemby was playing chess. And this wasn't on a whim: He knows how to play and even brought his own chess set. Before the San Antonio Spurs left New York for a flight to Minnesota, Wembanyama put out the call on social media: “Who wants to meet me at the SW corner of Washington Square park to play chess? Im there,” Wembanyama wrote. It was 9:36 a.m. People began showing up almost immediately. Washington Square Park is a known spot for chess in New York — Bobby Fischer among others have famously played there, and it's been used for multiple movie scenes featuring the game. Wembanyama was there for an hour in the rain, from about 10-11 a.m. He played four games, winning two and losing two — he told Bleacher Report afterward that both of the losses were to professional chess players — before departing to catch the Spurs' flight. Wembanyama had been trying to get somewhere to play chess for the bulk of the team's time in New York — the Spurs played the Knicks on Christmas and won at Brooklyn on Friday night. The schedule never aligned, until Saturday morning. And even with bad weather, he bundled up to make it happen. He posed for photos with a couple of dozen people who showed up, braving a morning of cold rain to play chess with one of the NBA's biggest stars. “We need an NBA players only Chess tournament, proceeds go to the charity of choice of the winner,” he wrote on social media after his chess trip was over. Wembanyama is averaging 25.2 points and 10.1 rebounds this season, his second in the NBA after winning rookie of the year last season. The Spurs play at Minnesota on Sunday. AP Sports SummaryBrief at 6:25 p.m. ESTProtecting the independence of South Africa's state broadcaster played a major role in Communications and Digital Technologies Minister Solly Malatsi's decision to withdraw the SABC Bill, the City Press reports. Malatsi said that the Bill would endanger the SABC's editorial independence by giving the communications minister "additional powers" to appoint board members, following his decision to withdraw it. The South African National Editors' Forum also took particular issue with this. The Minister told the City Press he believes it's imperative that the state broadcaster be safeguarded from political interference and remain independent from government pressure. Former communications minister Mondli Gungubele introduced the Bill in question in October 2023, aiming to replace the outdated Broadcasting Act of 1999 and develop a new revenue stream for the SABC. Until now, the state broadcaster has used the TV licence as its primary funding model. However, South Africans are becoming increasingly uncompliant with paying the fee. Non-payment of TV licences rose from 69% in 2018 to 87% in 2024, decreasing the revenue stream from R968 million to R741 million between 2018 and 2023. In addition to this, national and provincial governments and municipalities owed nearly R35 million in unpaid... Daniel Puchert

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 11, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Eldorado Gold Corporation (“Eldorado” or “the Company”) today releases its updated Mineral Reserve and Mineral Resource (“MRMR”) estimates as of September 30, 2024. “Our updated Mineral Reserves estimate provides a solid foundation and underpins our production profile over the next decade and beyond,” said George Burns, President and CEO. “We were pleased to increase our Mineral Reserves by approximately 2% overall, driven by increases at the Lamaque Complex and Efemcukuru that extends Reserve mine life significantly and complements our already long mine life assets at Skouries, Kisladag and Olympias. The Lamaque Complex Mineral Reserve increased by 45%, driven primarily by the declaration of an Inaugural Mineral Reserve at Ormaque of 619 thousand ounces. This follows a solid track record of successfully replacing Mineral Reserves since acquiring the asset in 2017 and sets up the Lamaque Complex for the long-term with two underground mines with significant Inferred Mineral Resource conversion potential and exploration upside.” “In addition, at Efemcukuru, we increased Mineral Reserves by 23% resulting in an extension to the mine life by an additional two years to an updated life of mine of eight years. Efemcukuru has been a reliable producer since 2011, and our team remains committed to exploring opportunities to extend mine life further. During 2025, our focus will continue to be on extending the mine life at our existing operations and testing near-mine exploration targets, while seeking a discovery from our highly prospective portfolio of early stage exploration targets in Canada and Turkiye.” The Company’s Proven and Probable gold Mineral Reserves totalled 11.9 million ounces as of September 30, 2024, an increase of approximately 2% from the previous MRMR statement from September 30, 2023. The complete MRMR table and notes can be found at the end of this release. Excluding depletion, the increase in Mineral Reserves is primarily attributable to additions at Kokarpinar South at Efemcukuru as well as an inaugural Mineral Reserve estimate for the Ormaque deposit within the Lamaque Complex. The following table summarizes the period-over-period changes to the Company’s Mineral Reserves: NOTE: Totals may not sum due to rounding. Eldorado’s Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources (“M&I Mineral Resources”) totalled 22.0 million ounces gold, as of September 30, 2024. The Company successfully converted Inferred Mineral Resources to M&I Mineral Resources at Ormaque, within the Lamaque Complex, and at Efemcukuru. The total is offset by depletion at the other operating mines. This resulted in a 3% decrease from the previous MRMR statement from September 30 , 2023. Eldorado’s Inferred Mineral Resources totalled 6.8 million ounces as of September 30, 2024, a 10% decrease from the previous MRMR statement. Detailed MRMR disclosure tables are included at the end of this news release. The following table summarizes the period-over-period changes to the Company’s Mineral Resources: NOTE: Totals may not sum due to rounding. The Company intends to report, and host a conference call led by senior management, as set out in the table below. The Company reserves the right to amend the schedule in its discretion and will inform the market of any changes in schedule. Eldorado is a gold and base metals producer with mining, development and exploration operations in Turkiye, Canada and Greece. Mineral Reserves and Mineral Resources are as of September 30, 2024 The Mineral Reserves and Mineral Resources were classified using logic consistent with the CIM Definition Standards for Mineral Resources & Mineral Reserves (2014) incorporated, by reference, into National Instrument 43-101 – (“NI 43-101”). Sample preparation, analytical techniques, laboratories used, and quality assurance and quality control protocols used during exploration drilling programs are done consistent with industry standards and independent certified assay labs are used. Mineral Reserves are included in the Mineral Resources. The Mineral Reserves and Mineral Resources are disclosed on a total project basis. Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources which are not Mineral Reserves, do not have demonstrated economic viability. With respect to “Inferred Mineral Resources”, there is a great amount of uncertainty as to their existence and uncertainty as to their economic and legal feasibility. It cannot be assumed that all or any part of a “Measured Mineral Resource”, “Indicated Mineral Resource” or “Inferred Mineral Resource” will ever be upgraded to a higher category. Additional information on the Kisladag, Efemcukuru, Olympias, Skouries and Lamaque mineral properties mentioned in this news release (all of which are considered to be material mineral properties to the Company) are contained in Eldorado’s annual information form for the year ended December 31, 2023 and the following technical reports for each of those properties, all of which are available under the Company’s profile at and www.sec.gov: Simon Hille, FAusIMM, Executive Vice President, Operations and Technical Services, is the “qualified person” under NI 43-101 responsible for preparing and supervising the preparation of the scientific or technical information contained in this news release and verifying the technical data disclosed in this document relating to our operating mines and development projects, unless otherwise noted. Additional qualified persons have approved disclosures for specific properties as detailed in “Mineral Reserve Notes” and “Mineral Resource Notes” below. Jessy Thelland, géo (OGQ No. 758)., Director Technical Services Lamaque, a member in good standing of the Ordre des Géologues du Québec, is the qualified person as defined in NI 43-101 responsible for, and has verified and approved, the scientific and technical disclosure contained in this news release for the Quebec projects. There are differences between the standards and terms used for reporting mineral reserves and resources in Canada, and in the United States pursuant to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission’s (the “SEC”). The terms Mineral Resource, Measured Mineral Resource, Indicated Mineral Resource and Inferred Mineral Resource are defined by the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) and the CIM Definition Standards on Mineral Reserves and Mineral Resources adopted by the CIM Council, and must be disclosed according to Canadian securities regulations. These standards differ from the requirements of the SEC applicable to domestic United States reporting companies. Accordingly, information contained in this news release with respect to mineral deposits may not be comparable to similar information made public by United States companies subject to the SEC’s reporting and disclosure requirements. Eldorado reports Mineral Reserves in accordance with CIM Definition Standards. Mineral Reserves for the operating sites (Efemcukuru, Kisladag, Olympias, and within the Lamaque Complex – Ormaque and Triangle) were determined using a long-term gold price of $1,450/oz while Mineral Reserves for the Skouries and Perama Hill projects were determined based on a $1,300/oz gold price. A reserve test is undertaken every year to confirm future undiscounted cash flow from reserve mine plan is positive. The following persons, all of whom are qualified persons under NI 43-101, have approved the disclosure related to the Mineral Reserves for the projects noted below contained within this release: Eldorado reports Mineral Resources in accordance with CIM Definition Standards. All Mineral Resources are assessed for reasonable prospects for eventual economic extraction (RPEEE). The Resource cut-off grades or values (e.g. gold equivalent) are determined using a long-term gold price ($1,800/oz) and modifying factors derived in the resource to reserve conversion process (or by comparison to similar projects for our resource-only properties). These values are then used to create constraining volumes that provide limits to the reported Resources. Resource grades are reported undiluted from within the constraining volumes that satisfy RPEEE. At Efemcukuru, mineralized shapes based on RPEEE identified based on 2.5 g/t Au COG; within shapes material below incremental COG of 1.0 g/t have been excluded; grades are diluted by must-take material between 1.0 and 2.5 g/t Au. Due to the presence of narrow veins, any future potential conversion of Resources to Reserves at Ormaque will reflect expected lower grades to fully represent modifying factors associated with mining. Open Pit Resources used pit shells created with the long-term gold price to constrain reportable model blocks. Underground Resources were constrained by volumes whose design was guided by a combination of the reporting cut-off grade or value, contiguous areas of mineralization and mineability. Eldorado’s Mineral Resources are inclusive of Reserves. The Mineral Resources used a long term look gold metal price of $1,800/oz for the determination of resource cut-off grades or values. This guided execution of the next step where constraining surfaces or volumes were created to control resource reporting. Open pit-only projects (Kisladag, Perama Hill, Perama South, and Certej) used pit shells created with the long-term gold price to constrain reportable model blocks. Underground Resources were constrained by 3D volumes whose design was guided by the reporting cut-off grade or value, contiguous areas of mineralization and mineability. Only material internal to these volumes were eligible for reporting. Projects with both open pit and underground Resources have the open pit Resources constrained by either the permit (Skouries), and pit shell, or by an open pit/underground economic crossover surface, and underground Resources constrained by a reporting shape. (1) Mineralized shapes based on RPEEE identified based on 2.5 g/t Au COG; within shapes material below incremental COG of 1.0 g/t have been excluded; grades are diluted by must-take material between 1.0 and 2.5 g/t Au. Countless people will be stocking up their pantries to prepare for their 2025 weight loss and fitness goals, but even some of the top foods they believe to be healthy could actually be sabotaging their efforts due to added sugars. This stealthy ingredient is found in countless food products, even those in the diet and fitness aisles and is usually hidden in the nutritional information on labelling. A 2023 analysis by found that people with diets high in sugar had a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke as a result. As a prime example that we may not be eating as healthy as we believe, low-calorie drinks were singled out in one study for having adverse effects on a person’s risk of cardiovascular disease despite seemingly being healthier than normal sodas. Currently, it’s estimated that the average UK adult has more than twice the amount of recommended sugar in their diet per day. Not only does this increase the body’s drive to store fat, particularly around the abdomen, but also affects your metabolic and cardiovascular health which has a direct impact on your risk of far more serious issues like diabetes, heart disease and stroke. While most people are aware that the added sugars in some foods such as sweets and chocolates affect our health, it’s found in countless other products that many people might not be aware of like granola bars. Fitness experts at explained the steps people can take to avoid this sneaky ingredient, starting with where to find it on food packaging. The experts shared: “Sugar hides under many names, including fructose, sucrose, and corn syrup. Check ingredient lists on packaged foods to spot these sneaky additions.” Cooking more meals at home can also give you full control over the amount of sugar in your diet and opting for more natural snacks like nuts, seeds and fruit can also lower your added sugar intake. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, the experts recommend turning to natural sweeteners like honey or maple syrup as even artificial sweeteners have been shown to increase your risk of cardiovascular disease. Limiting sugary beverages overall, including the diet alternatives, can be a major step to achieving your 2025 health and fitness goals too.Musk causes uproar by backing Germany’s far-right party AfDFuture Of AI Regulation In US Uncertain Under Trump-Musk: Report
