‘Ek Hai Toh Safe Hai’ Has Become Country’s Mahamantra: PM Modi in Victory SpeechDeMONTIS: ‘Mystical, magical and supernatural’ toys topping kids’ lists for Santa

Pittsburgh Steelers star edge rusher, TJ Watt was hoping for a much better outing against the Cleveland Browns than he gave in Week 12. The Steelers lost the game 24-19 , and it was a disappointing showing for most of the game. Despite a late rally that gave them a 19-18 lead, Pittsburgh couldn’t stop Cleveland when it mattered most, allowing the Browns to drive down the field for the game-winning score. The loss added to the frustration of a performance that lacked consistency from the Steelers' defense, including Watt. Throughout the game, Browns star defensive player Myles Garrett was dominating. Garrett finished with three sacks and a forced fumble, consistently disrupting Russell Wilson and putting pressure on the Steelers’ offense. It was clear that Garrett was one of the primary reasons for Cleveland's success. Meanwhile, Watt, despite being one of the NFL's top pass rushers, struggled to make those splash plays that typically define his impact. As the game unfolded, former Steelers Super Bowl champion Trai Essex took to social media to share his thoughts on Watt's performance. "TJ has been above reproach for so long.......not today," Essex wrote. "Dude has been non existent. His individual nemesis has made an impact and 90 hasn’t. Simply put." Essex, known for his candid opinions, questioned whether Watt’s lack of impact in such a crucial game was a sign of something bigger. His comments sparked debate among Steelers fans. One fan responded to Essex saying that it was one game and that he was overreacting. Essex added clarity to his comments about Watt. "Not calling for his job my man," Essex said. "Calling a bad game when we see it." The first thing to note is that the impact Watt has had on the Steelers—and continues to have—extends beyond what shows up in the box score. Even when he doesn’t register big stats, his presence on the field is often felt. Essex, a seasoned football mind, understands that great players can still influence the game even when they aren't getting the obvious numbers. In this case, Essex was looking beyond the typical statistics used to measure production. While Watt faced constant double-teams and chips throughout the game, there were moments when he wasn’t being pressured as heavily, yet he still failed to make the key plays that Essex felt were necessary. Great players, especially someone like Watt, are held to the highest standard—making an impact no matter the circumstances. It was a disappointing showing from Watt, but not just him. The entire defense struggled in several areas, and as a unit, they failed to rise to the occasion. Overall, the team didn’t appear prepared for a Browns squad that, while dangerous, has had its struggles this season. From a defensive standpoint, the Steelers seemed unready to deal with Cleveland’s offensive schemes, leaving them exposed when it mattered most. The lack of preparation was glaring, and it cost the Steelers dearly in this crucial matchup. Steelers' TJ Watt Gets Strange Hate From Browns' Myles Garrett Essex knows football well enough to recognize when Watt deserves criticism, and in this case, he felt Watt needed to make a bigger impact. Watt himself would likely be the first to agree. The game was further fueled by some interesting comments from Garrett about Watt, and after the game, Garrett continued to take shots at the Steelers' star. The rivalry between these two pass rushers is sure to intensify, and for now, Garrett holds the upper hand. However, Watt is known for bouncing back and will undoubtedly have a major game soon. No player, no matter how great, is beyond scrutiny—especially when you suffer a loss to a team like the Browns. US agencies should use advanced technology to identify mysterious drones, Schumer saysPega Announces Quarterly Cash Dividend for First Quarter of 2025Huawei Technologies Co.’s latest flagship smartphone is powered by a chip little different from the one that set off alarm bells in Washington a year ago, signaling a slowdown in the Chinese company’s tech advances. The newly introduced Mate 70 Pro Plus phone runs on a processor built with the same 7-nanometer technology used in its Mate 60 Pro last year, according to a teardown of the device by researchers at TechInsights. The chip, Kirin 9020, is designed by Huawei and once again produced by Shanghai’s Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. There had been reports that Huawei would progress to the more advanced 5nm technology as soon as this year, raising concerns in Washington that its attempts to constrain China’s tech industry were failing. Huawei itself doesn’t disclose details of its chip technology. “While early rumors pointed to the inclusion of the Kirin 9100 chipset fabbed using a 5nm process, the Mate 70 Pro+ instead houses the Kirin 9020, fabricated by SMIC on a 7nm process node,” TechInsights said in its analysis of the device. This means Huawei is still about five years behind the industry leader, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., in terms of its technology. TSMC first came out with a 7nm chip in 2018, and released a second iteration of the product in 2019. Huawei stunned the tech industry a year ago when it unveiled the Mate 60 Pro, powered by a semiconductor much more advanced than U.S. officials thought possible after strict export controls. Huawei’s announcement coincided with a trip to China by U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, the point person for enforcing American restrictions on the trade in technology. Yet Huawei’s push for additional breakthroughs has run into challenges. The Shenzhen-based company is unlikely to move past 7nm technology until at least 2026 as it seeks more powerful silicon for smartphones and artificial intelligence, Bloomberg News reported in November. Chipmaking partner SMIC, which is prohibited from buying the most advanced chip-making machines from ASML Holding NV, is dealing with poor yield and reliability issues with its current technology, clouding the prospects for moving to more advanced production nodes. Huawei has made some incremental progress with the Mate 70 Pro phone. In its teardown, TechInsights found that the processor, while made with the same SMIC 7nm+2 process technology, has a modified circuit floorplan aimed at boosting performance and efficiency. The chip’s die is also 15% larger than last year’s model. Still, Huawei’s current chip technology is not as good as that introduced by TSMC five years ago, when it first used ASML’s extreme ultraviolet, or EUV, production technology, TechInsights said. “Compared to 2019’s processor design in TSMC 7nm EUV, it would be slower, burn more power, and have lower yield,” said Alexandra Noguera, circuit analyst at TechInsights. “However, the redesign and learning would make this chip perform better than last year’s.” Huawei and SMIC are considered China’s strongest hope for advanced indigenous chipmaking, yet they appear likely to fall further behind next year when TSMC and Samsung Electronics Co. begin mass production at 2nm. The most advanced chips are used to power Apple Inc.’s iPhones and Nvidia Corp.’s AI chips. For smartphone tasks, Huawei’s semiconductors have shown themselves more than adequate. Last year’s Mate 60 surprised consumers with its smooth performance and brought Huawei back as a contender in China’s premium-tier market. The company retains significant expertise in camera technology and is rolling out its next-generation operating system, HarmonyOS Next, without any of Alphabet Inc.’s Google or Android software. The need for more advanced chipmaking is much more pressing with AI accelerators, where Huawei aims to compete with Nvidia as the provider of computing power for software developers in China. With Nvidia now operating an annual upgrade cycle of its chip technology, the performance gap between its products and China’s alternatives is likely to grow.

Paul Keating set for $40 million windfall from Telstra deal

A body found on the San Rafael shoreline has been identified as an 18-year-old woman who had been missing more than a month, the Marin County coroner’s office said Thursday. Sacramento resident Mai Sai Vue was reported missing from San Francisco after she attended a concert with friends and relatives on Oct. 31. The body was discovered near McNears Beach on Nov. 28. Chief Deputy Coroner Roger Fielding said investigators found no “overt signs” of a crime. The process of identifying the body was delayed because of its “extended exposure to the aquatic environment and elements,” Fielding said. The cause of death remains under investigation. Vue’s disappearance prompted a social media campaign to find her. Her sister Katelynn has started a GoFundMe page to help raise money for funeral expenses. She said her family appreciates the public’s support in the search for Vue. “Although it was not the news we had hoped for, we are still grateful to know that we have found her and can send her off properly,” she said in a post on the site.Exiled Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof's definition of home is shifting

Energy sector contracts will be free from political influence: AdviserPaul Keating has emerged as a significant winner from the sale of Boost Mobile, with the former prime minister set to pocket at least $40 million from the telco tie-up. Telstra on Monday announced it would acquire Boost Mobile in a deal understood to be worth just under $140 million in cash, a move that will enable Telstra to spruik low-cost prepaid plans amid an ongoing cost-of-living crunch. Former prime minister Paul Keating was the initial funder of Boost Mobile. Credit: Louie Douvis Keating holds a 29 per cent stake in Boost Mobile and remains one of the company’s largest shareholders. He was the sole investor when he co-founded the business in 2000 with entrepreneur Peter Adderton, who retains a 32 per cent stake. Other shareholders include skateboarder Peter Hill and his brother Stephen Hill, as well as former Boost Mobile chief executive Paul O’Neile. The acquisition, expected to be completed this month, will see Boost Mobile employees integrated into Telstra and no changes for Boost’s thousands of prepaid customers. The companies had been partnered for 13 years, with Telstra responsible for most of the operational parts of Boost’s business, including network access and customer service, while Boost was responsible for branding and marketing. “Boost Mobile has been a fantastic partner of Telstra, this acquisition cements just how much we value the Boost brand,” Telstra executive Brad Whitcomb said. Boost Mobile chairman Peter Adderton owns about a third of the company he founded with Keating in 2000. “We know Boost branded products are a fantastic option for those seeking more affordable mobile connectivity, and we are committed to providing that choice in the market.” Boost Mobile chairman Peter Adderton, who owned about a third of the company he founded in 2000, said the acquisition was a natural evolution for his brand. “I am excited to see how the brand will continue to grow under Telstra’s ownership,” he said. “The team at Boost are the best in the business and I wish them all well on the next part of Boost Mobile’s journey.” More to come The Business Briefing newsletter delivers major stories, exclusive coverage and expert opinion. Sign up to get it every weekday morning .By KELVIN CHAN, Business Writer LONDON (AP) — Looking for a new social media platform because X, Threads and Mastodon just aren’t cutting it? You could try Bluesky . People seeking to avoid chaos, noise and political bluster in the aftermath of the U.S. elections are noticing a different mood on the Bluesky social platform, where the vibe is seemingly welcoming and there are noticeably fewer trolls. The site announced it had rapidly added more than a million new users in the week after Election Day, and has emerged as one of the fastest growing rivals to Elon Musk’s X and similar platforms. If you’re tempted to check out the new space, here’s a guide on how Bluesky works: Maybe you’re not ready to commit to adding yet another social media account. No problem — you can still look around on Bluesky without signing up because all posts and profiles are public. You might get a sense of deja vu because the platform’s look and feel are very similar to X. That should be no surprise because Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey was an early Bluesky champion. (Dorsey’s no longer involved with Bluesky, which is owned and run by its executive team as a public benefit corporation.) If you take the plunge and get an account, you’ll need a username. You’ll notice Bluesky handles are a little bit different because they end by default in the site’s domain, .bsky.social. You can personalize your handle to make it more memorable, by using your own website’s domain or buying a custom one through Bluesky. But it might not be something most newbie users need or want to do right away. Bluesky boasts that it gives users “algorithmic choice” to tailor the content they’re shown instead of leaving it up to the whims of a centralized system. “Our online experience doesn’t have to depend on billionaires unilaterally making decisions over what we see,” it says . What it means is that you can follow custom feeds set up by other users, or design your own. If you tap #Feeds in the menu on the left, you’ll see some default offerings like Cat Pics and Gardening. My Bangers is a list of your most popular posts by likes and Catch Up shows the site’s most popular posts from the past 24 hours. You can find more by doing a search and tapping the Feeds button. There’s also the usual “Discover” feed of suggested posts and a chronological feed of accounts that you follow. To help new users settle in, Bluesky has starter packs of recommended feeds and accounts to follow, which anyone can create and share. They don’t show up in Bluesky’s search results but can be found in directories online . Or someone might share one with you. After I signed up, a colleague pointed me to one for major news outlets . There are tens of thousands of starter packs, ranging from broadly appealing topics like Taylor Swift to niche interests like cargo bikes or U.K. comedians . You can follow the whole pack or scroll down the list to choose individual accounts. What about people you followed on X? There’s a browser extension tool called Sky Follower Bridge that will help you find X users who’ve migrated to Bluesky. But check before clicking the follow button to make sure it’s not a different user using the same display name or handle. Ready to join the conversation? You can write posts or reply to others but keep it short because there’s a limit of 300 characters — 20 more than on X. You can also upload photos and videos, though videos can’t be longer than 60 seconds. GIFs and emojis are, of course, available too. You can still @ people by typing in their username, like posts by tapping a heart icon or use hashtags to highlight a theme. Bluesky has added a menu to hashtags, so when you click on one you’ll get different options for seeing, or muting, posts on that topic. Bluesky’s decentralization ethos extends to the content control options it offers. For starters, users can choose in their settings menu whether to see replies, reposts or quote posts in their feed. Specific words or tags can be muted temporarily, or forever, while accounts can be muted or blocked individually, or in bulk by adding them a moderation list. You can even fine tune the level of adult content that shows up in your feed. Bluesky has a team of content moderators to police the site for material that’s illegal or breaks the rules. But it’s also taking a different approach by open sourcing its content moderation system in an attempt to resolve problems with traditional moderation services which it says “lack transparency and user control.” So, individuals or groups can set up their own content filters, or labelers, that go beyond what Bluesky offers. These labelers can be used to categorize content or users, which can then be blocked or hidden. But they could also be used for informational or creative purposes, like curating or verifying content. There are labelers to identify images generated by artificial intelligence or to fact check news posts. You can find lists of labelers online. After I subscribed to a U.S. politics labeler, some posts in my feeds were flagged “!Donald Trump” or “!Democrat politician” and hidden unless I click Show. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the decisive mandate in favour of BJP-led Mahayuti in Maharashtra Assembly elections as a victory of a united OBC, SC and ST community against the divisive forces, alluding to the Congress-led INDIA bloc which has alleged that there is a threat to the Constitution and reservations under NDA rule. He reiterated the “Ek Hai to Safe Hai” slogan propagated by him and the BJP in the elections, underlining that as long as it is upheld India will march unhindered towards becoming a developed nation. Assembly Election Results Live Updates Maharashtra Election Results Jharkhand Election Results Bypoll Election Results In his victory speech at the BJP headquarters here, Prime Minister Modi underlined that this victory soon after winning in Haryana polls is a mandate for development, good governance and real social justice, and a strong rebuff to “falsehood, ulterior designs and duplicity”. “Ek Hai to Safe Hai. This has become the Maha-mantra of the nation. Congress and its ecosystem had thought that by lying in the name of the Constitution and reservations they would be able to divide SC/ST/OBC into fragments. Maharashtra has negated this. It has vociferously said, ‘Ek Hai to Safe Hai. It has taught a lesson to divisive forces,” Modi said. He asserted that the ST, OBC and SCs have all voted for BJP-NDA. “This verdict is a strong attack on the INDIA bloc view of dividing the nation. Maharashtra has given a befitting reply. We also combine development and heritage as we move ahead,” the prime minister said. Modi maintained that good governance of the BJP governments at the Centre and in several states has won three consecutive victories in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Gujarat, Goa and now Maharashtra (for NDA) as well as the NDA at the Centre. In “In the last 50 years, no party or any pre-poll alliance has won such a massive victory (in Maharashtra). This is also the third consecutive time that any BJP alliance has been blessed by the people of Maharashtra. Again, this is the third time that BJP has emerged as the largest party in the state. This is historic and a stamp on the governance model of BJP,” Modi said, adding that BJP alone has got more seats than all the Opposition combined. The prime minister claimed that when it comes to good governance people only have faith in the NDA. “To choose stability consecutively for the third time shows the maturity of the people of Maharashtra. In between some people tried to create disturbance by deceiving us. Voters have punished them,” Modi said. Paying obeisance to Shiv Sena founder Bala Saheb Thackeray and Veer Savarkar, the prime minister alleged that Congress has done a great disservice by dividing SS for its political gains. “Maharashtra has also exposed the two-facedness of Aghadi. Bala Saheb Thackeray left behind a major legacy. Congress broke his party into two factions... It has also insulted Veer Savarkar. Though for getting votes, it temporarily stopped abusing him,” he said. The prime minister described Congress as a “parasite party” and maintained it has been decimated in Maharashtra. “The fact is that Congress has become a parasite party; it sinks its ally with it. The strike rate of Aghadi parties is less than 20%. Congress lost 4 out 5 seats it contested. Its allies also performed like it,” Modi said, adding, “The urban naxalism of Congress is posing a challenge in front of the country. Everybody has to understand this truth about the Congress.” The prime minister launched a scathing attack on Congress, alleging that it has failed to gauge the mood of the nation and is underestimating the voter. “The voter does not want instability. The voter does not like those for whom it is ‘Kursi (power)-first’,” he said. The voter is also keeping a close eye on the performance of parties in various states they are in power. “In Karnataka, Telangana and Himachal Pradesh , people can see how Congress governments are betraying the mandate of the people. You will notice this in Punjab (AAP ruled) too. Hence, the people have trashed the hypocrisy of Congress (in Maharashtra),” Modi said. The prime minister also took on the Opposition for alleging the Constitution is under threat. “Another message of this verdict is that only one Constitution will work in this country- the Constitution of Babasaheb Ambedkar. Anybody who talks about another Constitution will be defeated. In Jammu and Kashmir, another attempt to restore Article 370 has been made. Maharashtra’s verdict has shown this will not work. Congress should hear it with open ears that no force can bring back Article 370,” Modi said. He charged Congress with sowing the “seeds of appeasement”, saying this is a big betrayal of the people and the Constitution. “Congress played this game- made laws for appeasement, ignoring even the Supreme Court- for decades. The Wakf Board is one example of it. In 2014, while relinquishing power they handed over some properties around Delhi. Wakf Law has no place in Ambedkar’s Constitution. But Congress created Wakf law for appeasement,” Modi said. The Wakf Board Bill is with the Joint Parliamentary Committee and may come up for discussion in the winter session of Parliament starting on November 25. He alleged that the “royal family” of Congress, alluding to Nehru-Gandhis- is trying to create caste divisions by spreading the poison of caste to satiate its hunger for power. “It has become difficult for committed workers to function in Congress as serving the interest of the family has become primary. Its Shahi family cannot stay out of power. Going to the South and abusing the North, going to North and abusing the South; going abroad and abusing the country,” Modi said. FCC chair proposes cybersecurity rules in response to China's Salt Typhoon telecom hack

The Arizona Cardinals are 6-6 through 12 games, which makes them an average football team. That’s much better than the previous two years, which both ended with just four wins. But after two straight frustrating losses, it’s not providing much consolation for a franchise that feels as though it should be much better. The latest setback came on Sunday, when the Minnesota Vikings . Arizona never trailed until Sam Darnold threw a 5-yard touchdown pass with 1:18 remaining that proved to be the winning score. It was a mistake-filled performance for the Cardinals, who racked up 10 penalties for 96 yards. That’s a big reason they had to settle for five field goals and scored just one touchdown. The Cardinals were leading 19-16 in the fourth quarter and had first-and-goal at the Vikings 5, but Tip Reiman was called for a false start and then quarterback Kyler Murray . The Cardinals kicked a field goal for a 22-16 lead, giving the Vikings the chance they needed to drive for the winning score. Murray threw two interceptions in the fourth quarter. “I thought we moved the ball well,” Murray said. “Again, it just comes down to not scoring touchdowns. Get down there and kick field goals and penalties bite us. It’s bad — it’s bad football.” The loss knocked the Cardinals out of first place in the NFC West, though they’re still in decent playoff position. A pivotal game against the division-rival Seahawks looms on Sunday. Second-year coach Jonathan Gannon acknowledged the frustration of Sunday’s loss, but said they’ve got to rebound quickly. “They’re disappointed and down, but it’s the NFL,” Gannon said. “They’ve got to put all their energy and focus into tomorrow.” What’s working Arizona’s defense blamed itself for not coming up with a stop on the Vikings’ winning drive, but the unit played exceptionally well for most of the afternoon. Mack Wilson and L.J. Collier both had two sacks and the Cardinals held Minnesota to just 273 total yards. For a group that looked as if it might be the team’s weakness this season, it was another rock solid performance. What needs help The Cardinals aren’t a good enough football team to overcome 10 penalties and get a win — particularly on the road. Reiman had a rough day, getting called for three false starts. His false start on the next-to-last offensive drive — coupled with Murray’s intentional grounding penalty — proved to be extremely costly. “That was brutal,” Gannon said. “Just got to figure out ways to punch the ball in for touchdowns there, not field goals.” Stock up Rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. had five catches for 60 yards, including an impressive touchdown catch that put the Cardinals up 19-6. It was Harrison’s seventh TD reception of the season. The No. 4 overall pick has been a little inconsistent in his first year, but there’s little doubt he’s a difference-maker for the offense. He’s still got a chance to reach 1,000 yards receiving this season if he averages about 80 yards receiving over the final five games. Considering his talent, that’s certainly possible. Stock down Gannon was second-guessed for his decision to kick a field goal late in the fourth quarter instead of trying for a touchdown at the Vikings 4 with 3:29 left. Chad Ryland made the 23-yard chip shot for a 22-16 lead, but the Vikings drove the field on the ensuing possession for the winning score. “I trust JG,” Murray said. “I see both sides. Go up six and make them score; trust the defense to go get a stop. Go for it, you don’t get it, they’ve still got to go down and score. If you do get it, you probably put the game away.” Said Gannon: “Yeah, I mean there’s thought about it. Just wanted to go up more than a field goal there. Definitely a decision point that we talked about. So be it.” Injuries The Cardinals came out of the game fairly healthy. Rookie DL Darius Robinson — the No. 27 overall pick — made his NFL debut against the Vikings after missing the first 11 games due to a calf injury. Key number 1,074 — Running back James Conner’s total yards from the line of scrimmage this season, including 773 on the ground and 301 in the passing game. Next steps The Cardinals return home for a game against the Seahawks on Sunday. ___ AP NFL:US agencies should use advanced technology to identify mysterious drones, Schumer says

New Resort Development – Little Island Hotels recently expanded to add The Farm to their Eleuthera-based collection, an off-grid resort centred around a farm that supplies produce for the brand's properties. Sustainability is a focus for the resort, which utilizes solar power and farming technology such as aquaponics, agri-voltaics and arboriculture. This one-of-a kind resort prides itself on offering new ways to relax and thrive through health and sustainability. The namesake references the fact that the accommodations are built around the large organic farm that supplies vegetables and fruits to other sister hotels. Rustic-chic, the property houses chickens, ducks, a budding orchard, a gym and a pool. The future on-site farm-to-table restaurant is still in the design process, but the current direction is a vegetarian expression of food, that highlights the property's homegrown produce.
