The victim, who served as the CEO of a prominent health insurance company, was known for his philanthropic efforts and dedication to improving the accessibility and quality of healthcare for all Americans.Another important aspect discussed during the meeting was the need to promote the healthy development of the rental housing market. With an increasing number of people choosing to rent rather than buy homes, the government has recognized the importance of creating a more robust rental market that can provide stable and affordable housing options for tenants. Measures to encourage the construction of rental housing, improve property management standards, and protect the rights of both landlords and tenants were also discussed during the meeting.

This tragic incident sheds light on the fact that while massages are generally considered a safe and beneficial way to relax and unwind, there are potential risks involved, especially when they are performed with excessive pressure or by untrained individuals. It is crucial for individuals to be informed and cautious when seeking massage therapy, as negligence or improper techniques can have serious consequences, as evidenced by this heartbreaking loss.
Moreover, the tax incentives for home buyers have also had a ripple effect on related industries such as construction, finance, and retail. The increased demand for housing has boosted construction activity, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. Banks and financial institutions have also benefited from the surge in mortgage applications, leading to increased lending and investment in the real estate sector. Retail businesses have seen a rise in sales as homeowners invest in furnishing and renovating their new properties.Dallas Cowboys star guard Zack Martin is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Washington Commanders due to ankle and shoulder injuries. Read More Here In the weeks following major defeats in the 2024 elections, the Democratic Party continues to self-reflect about where they went wrong with the American electorate and how to win back voters. Some within the party have suggested that President-elect Donald Trump ’s decisive win, particularly among non-college-educated and working-class voters, is a lesson for Democrats to do away with supporting “woke” policies and identity politics because it somehow alienates working-class voters. The suggestion has caused clear divisions within the party, particularly among moderate Democrats who blame liberals for putting too much of their thumb on the scale when it comes to the party’s policy priorities. “Donald Trump has no greater friend than the far left, which has managed to alienate historic numbers of Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and Jews from the Democratic Party with absurdities like “Defund the Police” or “From the River to the Sea” or “Latinx,” wrote U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres on X a day after Election Day. He continued, “There is more to lose than there is to gain politically from pandering to a far left that is more representative of Twitter, Twitch, and TikTok than it is of the real world. The working class is not buying the ivory-towered nonsense that the far left is selling.” ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Vice-president Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah avoids runoff vote, as win extends Swapo party’s 34-year hold on power. The Guardian: Namibia elects its first female president in disputed elections Namibia has elected its first female leader, with Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah declared the winner of last week’s presidential election in a result that will extend the ruling Swapo party’s 34-year hold on power. Nandi-Ndaitwah, the current vice-president, won with 57% of the vote, according to official results, defying predictions that she might be forced into a runoff . Swapo has ruled the country since its independence from apartheid South Africa in 1990. “The Namibian nation has voted for peace and stability,” Nandi-Ndaitwah, 72, said after the final results were announced late on Tuesday. Nandi-Ndaitwah was a member of the underground independence movement in Namibia in the 1970s. She was promoted from foreign minister to vice-president in February, after president Hage Geingob died while in office. Opposition parties have rejected the results after the election was marred by technical problems, including shortages of ballot papers and other issues, causing election officials to extend voting until Saturday. The opposition parties claim the extension was illegal and intend to challenge the results in court. Ghana will elect a new president on Dec. 7 amid increased concerns by security experts that its northern border regions are playing host to armed groups . Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo, first elected in 2016, will step down having served two terms, the constitutional limit in Ghana. The main contenders out of 12 candidates is current Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Mahama. The immediate task for Akufo-Addo’s successor is tackling rising insecurity in Ghana’s far north. Bawku, a market town less than an hour’s drive from Burkina Faso and Togo, has seen ongoing ethnic conflict since 2021 between the Kusasi and Mamprusi over who controls the chieftaincy. Analysts worry the clashes could help Islamist groups in Burkina Faso recruit young men. At least 25 people have died in attacks involving armed groups over the past month, prompting authorities to renew a curfew on the area last week. Ghana shares a 372-mile border with Burkina Faso, a country experiencing insurgencies linked to JNIM and other armed groups affiliated with al Qaeda and the Islamic State that have displaced some 1.7 million people. More than 15,000 Burkinabe have fled into northern Ghana since 2022, but the Ghanaian government has often expelled ethnic Fulani asylum-seekers, who are scapegoated as supporters of Islamist terrorism. The FBI and police in several states are investigating a wave of hateful texts and emails apparently targeting minorities across the United States following the presidential election. The anonymously sent messages, which may have numbered up to 500,000, varied in their specific language but had similarly menacing themes . Some referred to recipients as “selected for slavery” and ordered them to a plantation to pick cotton. Others said they’d be picked up for deportation or sent to a reeducation camp. The threats lacked details on timing, location and the like. Some addressed recipients by name, while others contained no greeting or personal identifier. They seemed to be targeting Black people, immigrants and LGBTQ people but may have been dispatched indiscriminately to a wide swath of Americans. Information technology experts have expressed confidence that the perpetrators will be identified . Yet it’s not clear to me as a professor of constitutional and criminal law that they can be prosecuted. The First Amendment generally protects free speech, even when it’s heinous. A U.S. Department of Justice investigation found that the Memphis Police Department committed a host of civil rights violations, including using excessive force, making illegal traffic stops and disproportionately targeting Black people in the majority Black city. The 17-month investigation was launched after officers fatally beat Tyre Nichols after he ran away from a traffic stop in January 2023. City officials said they aren’t ready to strike a binding deal with the Department of Justice to make long-term changes to the police department, citing concerns such as cost and needing more time to review the findings. The investigation describes a police force reliant on flooding neighborhoods with traffic stops without assessing their effectiveness or racial disparities, according to the probe. Officers quickly escalate encounters, including during such stops, and use excessive force when people are handcuffed or otherwise restrained. That includes letting police dogs bite people, including children, who were nonresistant and trying to surrender. Seeing is believing — at least, that is how Jae’Shaun Phillips feels about attending Sacramento State, the California State University with the largest Black student body, with over 2,000 students. He is in the inaugural class of the Black Honors College, a new initiative created to support future Black scholars and leaders. Now, Sacramento State is leading similar charges statewide. For one, the university is hosting the Cal State system’s new Office for the Advancement of Black Student Success , which oversees efforts to better serve Black students throughout the Cal State system. Secondly, on a wider scope, this office will soon manage a special designation for California colleges and universities that demonstrate a strong dedication to their Black students. A new law taking effect Jan. 1, enacted as SB 1348 , creates the first official Black-Serving Institution designation in the country. The designation will be given to qualifying colleges that vow to take a more aggressive approach to address California’s systemic obstacles that have kept Black students at the lowest college-going and graduation rates. Though it’s not stated in the law explicitly, the intent is that both public and private nonprofit institutions are allowed to apply, according to the office of Democratic state Sen. Steven Bradford of Inglewood , who authored the law. This designation is not federally recognized nor will campuses receive federal funding. Besides meeting other student support requirements, the designation is only available to institutions that have a Black student enrollment of at least 10%. For campuses that can’t meet the 10% threshold, they must have at least 1,500 students who are Black. Students like Phillips find comfort in these numbers. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WELCOME TO THE FRIDAY PORCH IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE BLACK KOS COMMUNITY, GRAB A SEAT, SOME CYBER EATS, RELAX, AND INTRODUCE YOURSELF.
The widespread public outrage over this incident has sparked discussions on the need for stronger data protection measures and stricter penalties for those involved in such illicit activities. As our reliance on smartphones and digital devices continues to grow, the security of personal information has become a pressing concern that cannot be overlooked.
As Syria grapples with the aftermath of the Assad regime's collapse, the international community must remain vigilant and support efforts to build a more inclusive and democratic future for the country. On one hand, some argue that historical figures should be portrayed within the context of their time period and capabilities, without the incorporation of anachronistic elements. In this sense, the introduction of a Gatling gun AI modification could be seen as distorting historical facts and misleading the audience.
The slump continues. German industrial production fell by 1% month-on-month in October from -2.5% MoM in September. On the year, industrial production is down by almost 5%. This is a very weak start to the fourth quarter, increasing the risk of a winter recession in Germany. Industrial outlook still not looking too rosy German industry has been the best example of the entire economy’s problems over the last few years: stuck between cyclical and structural headwinds and coming to terms with the fact that the traditional macro business model of cheap energy and easily accessible large export markets is no longer working. This is why almost five years after the start of the pandemic, German industrial production is still more than 10% below its pre-pandemic level. Looking ahead, underneath very volatile monthly data, there is a clear bottoming out emerging. At the same time, however, inventory levels are still increasing and have now been at elevated levels for an unprecedented amount of time. As a result, a cyclical rebound in industrial production could still surprise over the coming months. On a less positive note, unfortunately, capacity utilisation in manufacturing remains at its lowest level since 2020. It’s only in food and apparel production where capacity utilisation is currently at historical averages. This is not exactly a flattering picture for an industrial powerhouse. And there is more. A modern and potentially more aggressive version of ‘beggar-thy-neighbour’ economic policies in the US could not only harm German exports but also German investments if companies were to relocate production to the US. Add to this latest the political woes for Germany’s second most important export partner, France, and the outlook for German industry doesn’t exactly look very rosy – at least not beyond a short-lived cyclical rebound.
