The University of Nebraska at Kearney is encouraging students to express their values through various art forms as part of its annual Nebraska Emerging Writers and Artists Contest. This year's contest challenges high schoolers in grades 9-12 across the state to reflect on their values, how they shape who they are and how they impact the communities they live in. From there, students are asked to create a poem, essay, short story or visual art piece based on that theme. Writers are limited to 250 to 300 words for poems, 2,000 for essays and 4,000 for short stories. For visual art submissions, including photography, painting, drawing or 3D designs, files must be submitted in a PNG or JPEG format and be 2 megabytes or smaller. Submissions must also include a brief description of how the artwork relates to the theme. People are also reading... Nebraska Gov.
