Report: Iowa CB Jermari Harris opts out of rest of seasonKey Takeaways World Labs, a unicorn AI startup with a valuation of over $1 billion, unveiled a new AI on Monday that can transform any image into a 3D world. World Labs wrote in a thread on X that its new AI system works by taking an image, approximating 3D geometry, and filling in the scene so that there's more to see. The AI adapts to different art styles and scenes. The output is fully interactive, so viewers can view the 3D scenes as if they were inside them with a movable camera. They can zoom in and out and move around the space. Related: Testers Leak OpenAI's New AI Video Generator, Claiming They Were Used as 'Unpaid Labor' "Most GenAI tools make 2D content like images or videos," World Labs wrote in a blog post. "Generating in 3D instead improves control and consistency. This will change how we make movies, games, simulators, and other digital manifestations of our physical world." While World Labs isn't the first to explore this area, it is the first to make its 3D worlds explorable, per TechCrunch . Viewers can interact with the AI-created scenes on the World Labs website from within a web browser. In one demonstration , World Labs brings viewers into the 1942 painting Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. With a few clicks, viewers can freely move within the world created by the painting. Photo by VCG Wilson/Corbis via Getty Images In another demo, content creator and animator Eric Solorio showcases how he uses the technology to quickly generate 3D environments and scenes. "The process was very fast and easy," Solorio stated. "Something previously impossible, with this level of precision." World Labs says that AI-generated images can be used as the foundation for 3D spaces, too, and the entire process of creating a 3D world, from the image to the world itself, can be AI-generated. Although these demos are a "first early preview" of what its technology can do, according to the company, the team is working on making the generated worlds bigger and more true to form. The company hopes to have its first product ready sometime next year. Related: I Tried 3 AI Headshot Generators and There Was a Clear Winner

While there are tons of cozy pajamas that promote better sleep , there's also a gamut of research about the benefits of sleeping naked, such as potentially improving your self-image, supporting your reproductive health, and enhancing intimacy. After all, where else in the world — outside your own bed — can you really feel so comfortable? There's nothing quite like peeling off your pants and peeling back the covers. So we asked mental health experts, sex therapists, and sleep specialists to dig into the biggest benefits of sleeping sans pajamas, as well as the potential drawbacks of baring all in bed. Here's what they had to say. Jessi Gholami is a licensed therapist and clinical social worker. Ketan Parmar, MD, is a psychiatrist, sexologist, and mental health expert at ClinicSpots . Nick Bach, PsyD, is a psychologist and the CEO of Grace Psychological Services . Amelia Woods, PhD, is a sleep specialist at Order Your Supplies . Niloufar Esmaeilpour is a registered clinical counselor and the founder of Lotus Therapy & Counselling Centre . Isabelle Uren is a certified sex expert, trainee sex and relationship therapist, and the manager of Bedbible.com . 7 Health Benefits of Sleeping Naked There's something to be said about seeing yourself naked — especially in a safe setting, like the comfort of your own bed. And research backs this up, suggesting that nude activities have proven to boost body image, self-esteem, and overall life satisfaction. "For some, sleeping naked can be a way to feel more at ease with their body, promoting acceptance and a positive sense of self," says Jessi Gholami , a licensed therapist and clinical social worker. Ketan Parmar, MD, a psychiatrist, sexologist, and mental health expert at ClinicSpots , explains that this positive sense of self often comes over time. "Removing clothing really puts one in close physical contact with the body and helps one feel much more comfortable; thus, there are little or no condemnations about the body and related pressures," he says. "Over time, this simple practice can shift focus from judging appearance to simply feeling at home in one's own skin." His patients who embrace the habit of sleeping naked often report feeling more comfortable and self-assured. He's noticed them gradually develop healthier and kinder views of their bodies. Still, self-acceptance is a journey, and it may be a long road for some people, says Nick Bach, PsyD, a psychologist and the CEO of Grace Psychological Services . But sleeping without clothes can be a "gentle way" to guide that journey and lead to even greater changes. "I've noticed in my practice that when individuals make small choices that enhance self-esteem, it often leads to broader positive changes in their mental health," Dr. Bach adds. Amelia Woods, PhD, a sleep specialist at Order Your Supplies , explains that clothes — especially tight or heat-retaining items — can disrupt the body's natural thermoregulation. So sleeping without them allows your body to more effectively regulate its temperature, which can help you fall asleep faster and stay deeply asleep for longer. "Our bodies naturally cool down during sleep, and maintaining a lower body temperature can help facilitate deeper, more restful sleep," she says. "Research has shown that cooler body temperatures can promote the production of melatonin, a hormone that regulates sleep cycles. By sleeping naked, you may help enhance this natural process." After all, the body naturally lowers its temperature to enter REM sleep stages, Dr. Bach explains. So helping it cool down can only help it reach REM. There's nothing quite like the feeling of unbuttoning your pants or unhooking your bra after a long day. It isn't just a physically freeing feeling either. For many people, stripping down before slipping between the sheets can also feel mentally liberating. Niloufar Esmaeilpour, a registered clinical counselor and the founder of Lotus Therapy & Counselling Centre , says that removing your clothing before bed can relieve stress and release pressure associated with everyday social life. "[Sleeping naked] reduces tension and [relaxes you], therefore making it easier on the mind to unwind before bed," she says, adding that sleeping naked and the intimacy with ourselves that it provides can, in and of itself, improve emotional health. "Being more aware of our physical bodies during such a tranquil, sensitive state in life is grounding; it makes us feel more centered and at ease within our own space. This alone can have us feeling less anxious, leading to better coping with daily stress and improving our mental health." The improved sleep quality that comes with sleeping in a cooler environment is linked to being in a better mood . "Quality sleep supports better mood, focus, and emotional resilience, which are all essential for mental wellness," Gholami says. "For those dealing with stress, anxiety, or even body-image concerns, [sleeping naked]... can create a sense of freedom and comfort that extends beyond just the nighttime hours, potentially influencing how one feels throughout the day." Plus, according to the Sleep Foundation , sleeping without clothes and with a partner can induce the release of oxytocin by facilitating skin-to-skin contact. Known as the "feel-good" hormone, oxytocin naturally lowers cortisol, our main stress hormone. (More benefits of oxytocin coming.) "Sleeping naked [can] increase affection and emotional bonding in relationships," Dr. Parmar says. That same oxytocin that can boost mood also "triggers feelings of bonding, trust, and security," he says, "which are immensely beneficial for relationship satisfaction." Of course, hopping in bed naked with a partner can also set the tone for physical intimacy. "Sleeping naked... can help increase your desire for sex and arousal by creating the right environment for physical intimacy," says Isabelle Uren, a certified sex expert, trainee sex and relationship therapist, and the manager of Bedbible.com . For both men and women, sleeping without tight clothing can also allow the body to "breathe" and reduce moisture buildup, which can be beneficial for sexual health, according to Dr. Bach. "For men, cooler temperatures have been linked to improved sperm health, which is particularly relevant for those thinking about fertility," he says. Studies have shown that the testes need a cool environment for sperm production and quality. Meanwhile, for women, research shows that tight-fitting clothing or underwear can take a toll on vaginal pH balance and cause candidiasis. Wearing loose clothing — or forgoing clothing altogether — can, therefore, promote ventilation and keep bacteria at bay. "Sleeping without clothing can support vaginal health by reducing the buildup of moisture, which can lead to fungal infections or bacterial imbalances," Dr. Woods says. "Another often-overlooked benefit of sleeping naked is improved skin health," Dr. Woods says. "Wearing tight-fitting or non-breathable clothing to bed can trap sweat, dirt, and bacteria against the skin, which can contribute to skin irritation, acne, or other dermatological issues." Sleeping free of constrictive clothing allows your skin to "breathe" while you sleep and reduces irritation. This may be especially important for people with skin sensitivities or conditions like eczema, Dr. Woods says. What Are the Drawbacks to Sleeping Naked? Despite these upsides to sleeping nude, there are also some cons to going commando. Most obviously, you might feel cold. And if you feel too cold, it could keep you from falling or staying asleep, which would, of course, counteract the aforementioned benefits of sleeping in a cool environment. Moreover, if you sleep with a partner, skin-on-skin contact — especially in areas that are prone to sweating or that have prickly hair — can cause irritation. "There could be physical reasons a person might not want to sleep naked, such as skin conditions involving itchy or broken skin, sweating during the night, or other health conditions," says Uren. "Also, some people find it uncomfortable to have their breasts or penis free-range in the night." Other practical reasons to sleep clothed rather than naked include having small children or other people you care for during the night, Uren adds. And even though sleeping naked can be beneficial for your sex life, she says, if you are tired from not sleeping, sexual desire is likely to be one of the first things to go. "Whether you sleep naked or clothed, good quality sleep is foundational to well-being and should always be the priority," Uren says. Even solo, sleeping directly on your bedding potentially exposes you to allergens like dust. Plus, your own natural body oils, sweat, and dead skin can more easily transfer to your sheets without clothing as a barrier, which means you may have to clean them more often than every one to two weeks . It's also worth mentioning that if you have a middle-of-the-night emergency — as in the fire alarm goes off or you need to quickly evacuate for another reason — being stark naked could be. . . highly inconvenient. Teledyne Technologies's TDY short percent of float has risen 31.82% since its last report. The company recently reported that it has 412 thousand shares sold short , which is 1.16% of all regular shares that are available for trading. Based on its trading volume, it would take traders 1.65 days to cover their short positions on average. Why Short Interest Matters Short interest is the number of shares that have been sold short but have not yet been covered or closed out. Short selling is when a trader sells shares of a company they do not own, with the hope that the price will fall. Traders make money from short selling if the price of the stock falls and they lose if it rises. Short interest is important to track because it can act as an indicator of market sentiment towards a particular stock. An increase in short interest can signal that investors have become more bearish, while a decrease in short interest can signal they have become more bullish. This does not mean that the stock is going to fall in the near-term but traders should be aware that more shares are being shorted. Comparing Teledyne Technologies's Short Interest Against Its Peers Peer comparison is a popular technique amongst analysts and investors for gauging how well a company is performing. A company's peer is another company that has similar characteristics to it, such as industry, size, age, and financial structure. You can find a company's peer group by reading its 10-K, proxy filing, or by doing your own similarity analysis. According to Benzinga Pro , Teledyne Technologies's peer group average for short interest as a percentage of float is 6.63%, which means the company has less short interest than most of its peers. Selim RF Hussain, managing director and chief executive officer of BRAC Bank, along with Mahfuz Anam, editor and publisher of The Daily Star, handed over the awards to the winners at a ceremony held at Le Meridien Dhaka, the hospitality partner for the event. The event, which was organised in association with BRAC Bank and Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, began with a minute's silence paying tribute to the martyrs and injured of the mass uprising that led to the fall of the Awami League regime. Afeef Zaman, founder and CEO of ShopUp, was recognised as the ICT Business Person of the year, while Sadia Haque, co-founder and CEO of ShareTrip, was awarded as the ICT Woman of the year. Logic Software won the ICT Solution Provider of the year award in the local market focus category and The Kow Company in the international market focus category. Software Shop (SSL Wireless) was awarded the Digital Commerce of the year, while Shikho and Instasure were the ICT start-ups of the year. Although ICT has been regarded as the future, it has not been given due importance in Bangladesh, Anam said. "We haven't given the ICT sector enough support, enough importance, enough legal supportive environment, enough financial incentives for it to flourish." Only through ICT can Bangladesh catch up with the developed world. "The application of ICT can advance our health to a much higher standard, provide access to global experts in Bangladesh and connect experts in Dhaka with patients in rural areas. Similarly, in the education sector. Whatever we try, whatever money we spend, we cannot keep our education aligned with the evolution of education in the world except through technology." Besides, the digitisation of the government system could decrease corruption overnight, Anam added. There are many who feel that the banking sector should be investing much more in ICT and perhaps there is something to be said about that, said BRAC Bank MD Selim RF Hussain. "The future does belong to ICT usage and we are confident that banks in Bangladesh will continue to invest in and expand their digital banking capabilities in areas such as artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve customer service, become cost-efficient and fraud detection and prevention." Going forward, banks will increasingly partner with fintech companies to gain access to new technologies and services to stay competitive in the rapidly changing digital landscape. "Obviously, this is also an exciting time for banks and financial institutions -- many of them have already significantly upgraded themselves with their digital-first strategies to serve the customers." The adoption of digital banking channels, implementation of digital onboarding processes (eKYC), use of advanced analytics, development of digital products and services and automation of back-office processes are taking place with great momentum, Hussain added. Founded in 2010, Logic Software is a leader in providing customised ERP solutions for industries like textiles, garments and leather. By addressing inventory, production and financial challenges, the company helps businesses streamline operations. The company has processed more than $15 billion in transactions, boosting Bangladesh's economy. The KOW Company excels in content post-production and 3D innovation. With over 500 professionals and AI-driven technology, the company processes 32,000 to 35,000 assets daily. Partnering with global brands like Adidas, it delivers exceptional visual content across industries, setting new standards in media production and creative solutions. Under Sadia Haque's leadership, ShareTrip has revolutionised travel services in Bangladesh, generating more than $100 million in gross merchandise value. Her vision has made ShareTrip a leader in the travel industry and digital commerce. Under Afeef Zaman's leadership, ShopUp raised $174 million in South Asia's largest Series B funding round, driving ShopUp's success. By focusing on digital credit, logistics and business management, he has transformed the country's e-commerce landscape. Founded in 2019, Shikho is transforming Bangladesh's edtech landscape by offering localised, interactive educational content in Bengali. With its mobile app, Shikho provides engaging learning tools for students, addressing education gaps and enabling better retention. The company has secured $6.5 million in funding, expanding its reach and impact. Founded in 2022, Instasure has pioneered Bangladesh's first embedded insurance platform. With strategic partnerships and an innovative approach, it offers insurance products at the point of purchase. By making insurance accessible, particularly for underserved communities, Instasure is reshaping the industry and addressing low penetration rates. SSL Wireless, founded in 1999, has become a leader in Bangladesh's ICT sector, specialising in digital commerce solutions. The company's flagship product, Hercules One, integrates over 250,000 merchants, improving business efficiency. SSL Wireless is also driving Bangladesh's digital transformation and advancing a cashless economy through its innovative offerings. Ahmed Kamal Khan Chowdhury, group adviser of SSL Wireless; Shahir Chowdhury, founder and CEO of Shikho; Rafel Kabir, managing director of Instasure; Kowser Ahmed, MD and CEO of The KOW Company; Rumana Ahmed, director at Logic Software; Afeef Zaman and Sadia Haque received the award. Jim Kubiak is in his seventh season of analyzing the play of Buffalo Bills quarterbacks for The Buffalo News. Kubiak is the all-time leading passer at Navy, has played in the NFL, NFL Europe and the Arena Football League and has been a coach and executive in the AFL. He spent eight years as the radio analyst for the University at Buffalo and runs the Western New York Quarterback Academy to help develop the next generation of quarterbacks. He is the former head coach at Hilbert. Quarterbacks are evaluated each quarter using a “Doing Your Job” grading system for every play that takes into account the quarterback’s responsibilities and outcome. The accountability system rewards a quarterback with a plus for a play in which he does what he is supposed to do, a minus for not doing what he is supposed to do. A quarterback can earn a plus-plus for an extraordinary play and a minus-minus for a play that hurts the team. ___ The Los Angeles Rams didn’t stop Josh Allen on Sunday, but they were successful in minimizing enough of the Buffalo Bills' offensive capabilities to win. They did this by possessing the football nearly twice as long – 38:30, compared to Buffalo’s 21:30, a nearly 2-to-1 ratio. Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen throws on the run to Mack Hollins against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, Dec. 8, 2024, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. By running the football with power and consistency, as well as converting on third downs, the Rams achieved a lopsided time of possession that ultimately helped them win the game. The Rams ultimately rushed for 137 yards and had a third-down conversion percentage of 73% (11 of 15). Together, these factors allowed their offense to run 72 plays, compared to the Bills' 54. It would be difficult for any opponent to beat the Bills in a game in which Allen threw for three touchdowns and rushed for three touchdowns, but the Rams achieved it with long possessions and repeated scoring drives. On special teams, they added to their chances of victory with a blocked punt that they returned for a touchdown. There weren’t any turnovers in this game by either offense, but this special-teams touchdown was the same as an interception or fumble returned for a touchdown. It ultimately had the same result as if the Bills had lost the turnover differential. In this interpretation, this would be the Bills' first game this season with a negative turnover ratio. The end-of-the-game scenario also called into question a decision by coach Sean McDermott and offensive coordinator Joe Brady for Allen to attempt a quarterback sneak when, perhaps, the Bills may have been better served to throw on first-and-goal. This sneak attempt was stuffed by the Rams and required the Bills to use one of their three coveted remaining timeouts, which changed their end-of-game strategy. These were factors outside of Allen’s performance, which was in many ways sensational, that changed the landscape of the game. This context aside, we will focus on Allen’s decision-making, his efficiency and the struggles in the Bills’ running game that increased the pressure on his performance. The Bills’ offense lacked the balance from the running game they have come to enjoy, as James Cook and Ray Davis rushed for a combined 21 yards on just seven attempts. Allen himself had 10 rushing attempts for 82 yards, all of which were quarterback sneaks or scrambles. The Bills were physically dominated on both lines of scrimmage and lacked the ability to meet the urgency and fortitude the Rams had for all four quarters. FIRST QUARTER Play selection: Nine plays (five passes, four runs) Allen: 4 for 5 passing, 51 yards; two carries for 1 yard, TD Performance grade: 90% Score: Tie, 7-7. The Rams opened the game with a 12-play, 70-yard touchdown drive that took a total of 6:32. This put Allen and the Bills in an early hole. Allen and the offense answered to tie the game with a nine-play, 70-yard touchdown drive. The highlight play was this first-and-10 screen to running back Ty Johnson. 1. Josh Allen's screen to Ty Johnson – an incredible throw Brady's play-call on this first-and-10 was excellent as the Bills were able to influence the high-effort defensive front of the Rams with a play-action fake. Allen had to be extraordinarily precise with his throw to quickly get the ball to Ty Johnson. Look at how small the throwing lane was between Dion Dawkins and David Edwards. There was no room for error. This completion went for a 14-yard gain and set up the Bills’ offense to score three plays later, as Allen plunged into the end zone on a quarterback sneak. The story of the first quarter was the difference in each team’s ability to run the football. The Rams had impressive balance and physical power; they had rushed for 66 yards, passed for 67 yards, attained nine first downs and possessed the football for more than 9 minutes. Compare that to the Bills’ 4 rushing yards and 51 passing yards. The Rams certainly had more opportunities with two possessions – compared to the Bills’ one possession – but the inability of the Bills to rush the football was apparent and worrisome from the beginning. SECOND QUARTER Play selection: 13 plays (11 passes, two runs) Allen: 6 for 11 passing, 100 yards, TD; 0 carries for 0 yards Performance grade: 84% Score: Rams, 24-14. The Rams’ second series covered 10 plays, 65 yards and a time of possession of 4:45. This drive ended with a field goal, elevating the Rams’ lead to 10-7. At this point, the Bills could have retaken the momentum with a long and balanced touchdown drive. However, they continued to struggle when it came to running the football, with just two rush attempts by Cook. The physical power of the Rams resulted in Allen having to throw the football to make up the difference. This was part of the Rams’ strategy – making the Bills one dimensional. The Bills’ offense ran four consecutive passes. Allen had three straight incompletions, resulting in a punt, and the Bills possessed the football for only 1:08. It was curious that Brady called four passes on this critical drive, rather than seek the balance he has become known for. Buffalo's punt was blocked and returned for a touchdown, which swung the momentum heavily in the Rams’ favor and was, essentially, a touchdown possession for the Rams. This special-teams blunder was essentially like an offensive turnover that was returned for a touchdown. 2. Rams' blocked punt of Bills' Sam Martin Jacob Hummel ran over long snapper Reid Ferguson on this play, and it was this intangible, relentless energy that the Rams played with that was the overall difference in the outcome. This touchdown catapulted the Rams into a 10-point lead, 17-7. Allen and the offense answered on their next possession with a four-play drive and the first of Allen’s three touchdown passes on the day. Following a short run by James Cook on first down, Allen calmly delivered this throw to Mack Hollins while under duress from a free rusher. 3. Second-and-7: Josh Allen to Mack Hollins vs. blitz – operational skills Here, the Rams rushed with an overloaded blitz to Allen’s right. The creative use of motion with Davis did not influence the defenders, as four Rams players attacked three Bills protectors – Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence and Spencer Brown. It is always a gamble for an offense to use a five-man protection. The way in which Allen stood in the pocket and delivered this completion to Hollins was very impressive. Allen knew where he was going with the football before the snap, and he calmly waited for Hollins to turn around in the voided area. This was awesome poise and discipline by Allen versus a well-designed blitz, and this set up Allen’s first touchdown pass of the game two plays later. On first-and-10, Brady drew up this creative double-screen in which Allen faked a wide receiver screen to his right and then came back with a screen to his left. 4. Josh Allen's TD pass on double-screen to Ty Johnson At this juncture, the Bills’ offense had only run the ball five times out of 16 plays. There was a sense that the Bills’ offensive line was struggling to get any kind of a push to open holes for the running backs. On several early runs, defensive tackle Kobie Turner split double-team blocks, tackling Cook at the line of scrimmage. Brady pivoted and used this creative double-screen to influence the defensive line to Allen’s right, faking a receiver screen to Khalil Shakir, and then immediately screening left to Johnson. As you watch the video, you will see McGovern and Edwards release down the field and secure critical blocks in space to free Johnson down the sideline. Hollins also maintained an essential block to spring this short pass for a touchdown. The idea of screening and fake-screening was a great counter-attacking mechanism for a Bills offensive line that was struggling to get any push in the running game. A short passing game, screens in particular, can be a suitable supplement for a lack of a ground game. This was a point where a defensive stop by the Buffalo defense had the potential to propel the Bills to their first lead of the game. Instead, the Rams ripped off a 12-play touchdown drive that went 76 yards and drained more than 7 minutes off the game clock. The Rams’ lead jumped to 24-14 with 2:30 remaining in the half. The Bills’ defense could not stop the Rams, who maintained an aggressive and tenacious energy that continued to drive their successes on the field. Here, the strategy was that the Bills’ offense could score before halftime and double down with the opening possession of the third quarter. These were back-to-back possessions that could have turned the tide of the game, despite the exceptional execution of the Rams and their blocked-punt touchdown earlier in the quarter. Allen took over on only his fourth series of the game with 2:30 remaining and all three timeouts. Four plays into this drive, Allen and the Bills found themselves in a third-and-2 on their own 41-yard line. A third-down conversion here would have made a significant difference and, potentially, led to points. Brady, anticipating man-to-man, called a mesh-style crossing concept – but before Allen had time to make any decision, defensive tackles Turner and Braden Fiske collapsed the pocket in front of him. This four-man Rams pressure forced Allen to whirl around and scramble, his throw ultimately falling incomplete. It was this direct, penetrating bull-rush from the Rams that made Allen most uncomfortable in the game. McGovern and left guard Edwards were driven backward and into Allen on the play. The Rams fielded the Bills’ punt successfully and after gaining a first down, elected to let the clock run out. They headed into halftime with a 10-point lead. More importantly, however, was the way in which they achieved this score. They had a nearly doubled time of possession, 19:55 to 10:05, and outgained the Bills on the ground 94-15. The Rams overpowered and out-executed the Bills on third down, converting 80% to just 33% – and through it all, the Rams limited the time that Allen had opportunities with the football. When you add their special-teams touchdown to their offensive and defensive performance in the first half, the Bills were fortunate not to have been in a deeper hole. THIRD QUARTER Play selection: 12 plays (eight passes, four runs) Allen: 4 for 8 passing, 82 yards, 1 TD; two carries for 37 yards. Performance grade: 83% Score: Rams, 38-21. Much like their possession before the half ended, Allen and the Bills’ offense had another great opportunity to close the gap on the opening drive of the second half. On third-and-7, the Rams came with this chaos-creating pass rush that forced Allen to move to his left. This movement caused an inaccurate throw to an open Shakir, which would have given the Bills a first down. 5. Third-and-7: Chaos pass rush forces an incomplete Josh Allen throw On this play, the Rams rushed just four and dropped seven defenders into zone coverage. Watch Jared Verse, who was lined up on Dawkins, expose his wide split and lambast McGovern. This was a designed rush tactic, as Verse’s sole responsibility was to knock down one of the pass protectors. The other important part of this four-man rush was that three rushers came to Allen’s right, pushing him to his left. It is rare to see a defensive end not try to rush, but rather create chaos by knocking down pass protectors. This strategy worked as Allen slid to his left and could not deliver his throw accurately. This three-and-out marked the second consecutive offensive drive in which the Bills couldn’t convert an important third down. The Rams continued their astounding efficiency against the Buffalo defense with another long touchdown drive to elevate their lead to 31-14. They were again unstoppable on an 11-play, 76 yard possession that drained 5:29 off of the game clock. This kind of extreme lopsided time of possession is enough to decide NFL games. At this juncture, following the Rams’ touchdown, they had a 25:21-11:13 advantage in time of possession over the Bills, running 23 more offensive plays. This was the point in which Allen began to impose his will. On the Bills’ next possession, he was the engine of 5 of 6 offensive plays which led to his second touchdown pass of the game. He completed every pass and overcame two penalties. On second-and-25 from his own 32-yard line, Allen ripped off this 17-yard scramble. 6. Josh Allen magic: His 17-yard scramble Watch closely, and again you will see a concerted pass rush effort by the Rams to push Allen left. Verse came underneath the wide and deep set of Dawkins. This accomplished two things. First, it forced Allen to leave the pocket by creating chaos in front of him, and second, he was able to bump into McGovern. This was a unique and disruptive strategy – and yet in spite of the great Rams’ effort, Allen escaped, keeping the Bills in a manageable third-and-8 situation. On the next play, Allen threw this 51-yd touchdown pass to Shakir. 7. Josh Allen TD pass to Khalil Shakir Allen set his protection to pick up the Rams' five-man rush. The Rams, with one less defender in coverage, lost track of Shakir, who was wide open in front of Allen. The quick processing and delivery, along with Shakir’s speed, enabled him to cut through the middle of the defense all the way down the field and into the end zone. These two plays gave the Bills life as they reduced the Rams’ lead to 10 points, 31-21. The Rams’ offense again answered with another touchdown drive, this one for seven plays and 70 yards, as they possessed the football for another 3:36. These long Rams offensive drives effectively kept Allen off the field while extending their lead. The fact that the Bills’ defense couldn’t stop the Rams from scoring was one thing, but the real struggle was the clock on these consistently long drives. FOURTH QUARTER Play selection: 20 plays (13 passes, seven runs) Allen: 8 for 13 passing, 109 yards, TD; six carries for 44 yards, 2 TDs Performance grade: 90% Score: Rams, 44-42 The Bills began the fourth quarter behind 38-21. In this final quarter, the Buffalo offense ran seven times in 20 offensive snaps. Six of those rushes were from Allen. In all, the Bills’ offense scored three touchdowns – two rushing by Allen and one passing. On the first Bills’ series of the fourth quarter, Allen plunged into the end zone on his second quarterback sneak of the game to close the gap to 38-28. Next, following a rare defensive stop, the Bills forced the first Rams punt, opening the door for Allen to further reduce the lead. Allen completed 6 of 7 attempts and ran the ball twice on a 10-play, 91-yard touchdown drive. Here was Allen’s third touchdown pass of the game, this time to Hollins. 8. Josh Allen TD Pass to Mack Hollins on a slot fade The pre-snap posture by the Rams indicated man-to-man coverage, given the compressed nature of their structure. Allen knew he was throwing to Hollins immediately with the defender, Quentin Lake, so close to him. Credit Brady here with building in a quicker passing concept to take some of the pressure off of the offensive line. These quick passes can be effective in situations such as this, limiting or minimizing pass rushers from getting the quarterback. This touchdown brought the Bills back into a three-point deficit at 38-35, within reach of making a miraculous comeback. The red-hot Rams’ offense did not concede. They put together another 11-play, 71-yard touchdown drive to extend their lead again, this time to nine points. During the drive, the Bills’ defense had the Rams in a fourth-and-5 on the 35-yard line. The Rams could have elected to kick a long field goal, but instead went for it. 9. Rams' false start on fourth-and-5? Rob Hanvenstein clearly false-starts on this play – and had this been called, the Rams would have been in a fourth-and-10, potentially changing the complexion of the game. Following the Rams’ score, the Bills found themselves in a two-score situation. They needed both a touchdown and a field goal with 1:54 remaining. This was not ideal, knowing the poor odds of recovering an onside kick. On a fourth-and-15, the Rams were called for defensive pass interference, Lake on Shakir. This set up Allen and the offense on first-and-10 on the 16-yard line with 1:18 remaining and all of their timeouts. The Bills could have kicked a field goal and then tried to get a defensive stop with the remaining three timeouts. However, the success the Rams had in this game must have made McDeromott feel that the best opportunity to win was with an immediate touchdown, and then consider how to manage the back half of trying to score again. Following another defensive pass interference, this time on Darious Williams, McDermott was faced with first-and-goal on the 1-yard line. Here, the remaining time was the primary concern, because the Bills needed another possession. Rather than throw the football and give Allen the chance to throw it away, the Bills called their very best short-yardage play – an Allen quarterback sneak. This was a gamble that occurred without a contingency plan. If Allen was stopped, the Bills would either have needed to call a timeout or ask Allen to hurry back to the line and do it again while the clock continued to run down from when the sneak occurred, 1:06. Clearly, McDermott was going to call the timeout, which he did. In retrospect, hurrying back to the line and sneaking again may have been the better option, but neither were good. This may have taken approximately 20-30 additional seconds off the clock. The choice McDermott made to run the football with Allen caused the need for the timeout. Had the Bills called a pass play, a rollout, or something Allen could have thrown away to save time, they could've scored the touchdown, saved their timeouts, kicked away and played defense. In a perfect world, this scenario would have potentially allowed Allen and the Bills offense to regain possession with no timeouts and approximately 20 seconds remaining. These were better odds because Allen needed only to be in field-goal range for the win. CONCLUSION The Rams made time the enemy in this wild and fiery contest. Credit them for their physical force, their urgency, their passionate and electric attitude. The Rams played their best game of the year at just the right time with a season-high 44 points to stay in playoff contention. They made more plays as a team, while Allen himself kept the Bills close and in striking distance, accounting for six total touchdowns. Strategically, the Rams’ pass-rush concepts kept Allen in the pocket or going to his left, which minimized some, but not all, of his effectiveness. The Rams lined up three defensive pass rushers to Allen’s right side and, at times, crashed the left defensive pass rusher into Bills blockers. The beauty was that they were able to cause chaos without deploying more than four or sometimes five rushers. Brady called running plays for the Bills’ running backs on just 13% of the offensive plays in the game (7 of 54). This was a remarkably low number of attempts, but it may have been a strategic choice given that the Bills were behind, or that the defensive front of the Rams was more physical. Either way, Brady drastically adjusted from the balance that he has developed. In 2024, the Bills, as a team, have rushed the ball 47% of the time and passed it 53%. Yet, in this game, they had a curiously different average – especially when you remove Allen’s scrambles. Allen’s performance, albeit record-setting and incredible, also exposed his weaknesses. He doesn’t complete as many passes shuffling to his left in the pocket, and, at times, he struggles sitting in the pocket too long. The Rams called a perfect storm: stuffing the run, creating chaos with four or five rushers and forcing Allen to the left. The Rams exceeded expectations in the areas they needed to in order to win. I don’t believe that their level of execution would be sustainable, were these two teams to meet again. However, this is a wake-up call for the Bills. McDermott and Brady must have answers for teams that have a front four like the Rams. There are tools for undersized or outmatched offensive lines to use, including more hurry-up tempo, jet sweeps, traps and blocking schemes that engage in angle-blocking techniques, where brute force is less important than position. Brady is an outstanding football coach, and I’m confident we will see some of his answers in the coming weeks.
