MUMBAI: The first commercial aircraft will land at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) at noon on Sunay, as NMIA officials gear up for the launch of phase 1 in March 2025. The landing of the Indigo A320 will highlight the NMIA’s readiness for full scale operations. The aircraft, that will take off from Mumbai airport, will land at the 08/26 runway at the Navi Mumbai airport and will then receive the water cannon salute. No political leader will be present on the occasion due to the official mourning period announced for former prime minister Manmohan Singh. Only officials of NMIA and City Industrial Development Corporation, which is developing the airport, will be present. Earlier a C295 transport aircraft of Indian Air Force had landed at NMIA on October 11. In December, testing of the Precision Approach Path Indicator (PAPI) system - an essential component of aeronautical ground lighting that ensures pilots maintain the correct glide slope during landings – was completed in the second week of December. The calibration process completion has ensured that NMIA is near to being fully operational, clearing the path for regular commercial flight operations.

Amid controversy about the Fortnite collab, a Cyberpunk 2077 developer has explained why the female V avatar was chosen over the male version. Following several leaks and rumors, Cyberpunk 2077’s Fortnite collab went live on December 23, introducing Johnny Silverhand and V to the battle royale. The crossover stirred up quite a bit of controversy, though, with many fans of the CD Projekt Red title upset that male V didn’t make the cut like his female counterpart. Some dubbed it “erasure,” while others argued CDPR probably associates male V with the game’s broken launch, hence female V being more prominent during the marketing for Update 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. One developer has offered a simpler explanation. Cyberpunk 2077 dev explains decision behind Fortnite V skin In response to the backlash, Cyberpunk Senior Quest Designer, Patrick K. Mills, said picking female V for the Fortnite skin was ultimately his call. Johnny Silverhand counted as the male representation for the collab, thus including a female character helped balance things out. “...I like femme V a little better and we already had a masc character in the form of Johnny,” Mills wrote on Twitter/X (via SparkyFunbuck ). He then explained that while each version of V is great, they couldn’t “do both in this collab, so a choice had to be made.” Ahead of the crossover content’s release, Cyberpunk 2077 fans hoped male V would feature in an Edit Style as an alternative outfit. Mills’ comments indicate this wasn’t an option at all. Related: In addition to the Johnny and V skins, Fortnite x Cyberpunk 2077 also includes items such as the Mantis Blades pickaxe and a backbling styled after Johnny’s Arasaka nuke . Players can purchase all of the above in a bundle for 2,800 V-Bucks, though those wanting to grab Cyberpunk’s Quadra Turbo-R car will have to fork over an extra 1,800 V-Bucks.

CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, Nov. 25, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lystek International (Lystek) is excited to announce the LysteMize Livestock Waste Characterization Study with support from the Department of Natural Resources Canada and Brown and Caldwell . Lystek has been awarded approximately $585,000 from the federal government’s Energy Innovation Program , as part of the Clean Fuels and Industrial Fuel Switching call, to undertake the four-year project. The project will evaluate the suitability of various animal manures and organics from farms in southern Ontario as feedstocks for the LysteMize anaerobic digestion (AD) process to produce renewable energy. Lystek intends to produce a detailed characterization study of biogas yields from a range of animal waste feedstock sources and correspondingly introduce LysteMize low carbon intensity Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) as a clean fuel production pathway for the livestock waste sector. “Brown and Caldwell is very excited about the opportunity to support Lystek in innovation around anaerobic digestion of agricultural lignocellulosic wastes – advancements in this technology will help farmers achieve significant environmental benefits and reduce pollution as well as produce green energy that can reduce the carbon footprint of waste management operations.” – Dr. Kati Bell, Managing Director of Water Strategy, Brown and Caldwell Consulting Lystek’s patented and proven commercial Thermal Chemical Hydrolysis Process, Lystek THP®, uses a proprietary combination of high shear mixing, low-pressure steam (75°C), and alkali addition to hydrolyze organic substrates and make them more amenable to microbial digestion in anaerobic environments. The multi-purpose Lystek THP technology has been proven to enhance AD performance for improved biogas recovery in the process known as LysteMize. LysteMize is the process of anaerobically digesting Lystek THP hydrolyzed residuals. Lystek THP reduces particle sizes, homogenizes feedstocks, and solubilizes recalcitrant organic carbon making organic wastes more amenable to biodegradation. LysteMize also allows for quicker conversion to biogas during AD. Municipal biosolids and organic food waste feedstocks have demonstrated enhanced biogas production and biodegradability with LysteMize. This project extends this proven concept to animal manure feedstocks. Manure samples from over ten cattle, swine, sheep, goat, and poultry farms will be analyzed utilizing a laboratory-scale Lystek THP system and biochemical methane potential (BMP) testing to determine how various livestock waste feedstocks digestion potential transforms using THP technology. In previous LysteMize applications the maximum biogas production has increased by up to 70% - depending on the baseline biodegradability characteristics of a feedstock. LysteMize provides unique benefits for manure management to Canadian livestock farms of varying sizes - making on-farm energy generation through biogas recovery more accessible at smaller scales. Implementing enhanced biogas recovery on farm can reduce or eliminate the use of fossil fuels, such as diesel or propane, and the associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in farming operations. Lystek is an innovative clean tech company that can contribute to Canada’s net-zero and renewable energy goals with the application of on-farm LysteMize biogas recovery. “This project is a game-changing extension of Lystek’s proven resource recovery technology suite. We are exceedingly optimistic about the prospect of bringing cost effective and easy to operate solutions to a wider range of users to help build the circular economy and reduce GHG emissions in Canada and abroad.” - Mike Beswick, Executive Vice President, Lystek “I am pleased to see companies like Lystek leading innovation in sustainable agriculture. By supporting their latest project, the Government of Canada is strengthening Canada’s agricultural industry, which stands to benefit from more affordable, widely available, and cleaner fuels. By supporting the work of our farmers and rural industries, this federal government is helping to build a prosperous and low-pollution future for all Canadians. ” - Bryan May, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Small Business and to the Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario and Member of Parliament for Cambridge Preliminary results from the study have been extremely promising. The LysteMize Livestock Waste Characterization Study is expected to finish in 2027 and will provide the knowledge base required to advance the application of Lystek’s LysteMize Digestion technology across the livestock waste sector. US stocks rose on Monday as small caps rallied near new highs and the Dow Jones Industrial Average ( ^DJI ) rose more than 400 points amid a broad sense of optimism over President-elect Donald Trump's choice of Scott Bessent for Treasury secretary . The Dow increased 0.9% to close at a new record. The S&P 500 ( ^GSPC ) rose 0.3%, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite ( ^IXIC ) rose 0.3%, despite Nvidia ( NVDA ) sliding over 4%. The Russell 2000 (^ RUT ), up 1.6%, also closed a whisker off a record high. It did notch an intraday high. Stocks kicked off a holiday-shortened week with more of the upbeat mood that lifted the gauges to weekly wins . Markets will shut on Thursday for the Thanksgiving holiday and close early on Friday. Trump tapped Bessent, viewed as the "investor favorite" pick for Treasury, late Friday evening after a surprisingly drawn-out process that saw candidates' stocks seem to rise and fall by the day . Bessent's nomination has seemed to at least temporarily calm nerves over the president-elect's inflationary agenda, with the benchmark 10-year Treasury yield ( ^TNX ) dipping back under 4.3%. On the inflationary front, the Fed will get its preferred look at the picture heading into Trump's term with Wednesday's release of the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) index. Economists expect a tick up in "core" PCE, which is closely watched by the central bank. Meanwhile, bitcoin ( BTC-USD ) was in search of a milestone $100,000-per-coin level amid a near-50% surge over the past month. It was back down below $95,000 on Monday, however. The markets rose on Monday following President-elect Donald Trump's choice of Scott Bessent for Treasury secretary . Yahoo Finance's Anjalee Kamlani reports: Allurion ( ALUR ) launched a new program to provide patients access to compounded weight-loss drugs Monday after months of pitching its own weight-loss solution — an ingestible balloon — as an alternative for patients who may not want to use the popular injectable GLP-1 drugs. Allurion CEO Shantanu Gaur told Yahoo Finance that, like others, the company continues to see a spillover effect from the unprecedented interest in GLP-1 drugs like Novo Nordisk's ( NVO ) Wegovy and Eli Lilly's ( LLY ) Zepbound. It's why the company is now offering copycat products at a fraction of the cost. Read more here. Yahoo Finance's Pras Subramanian reports: Tesla stock ( TSLA ) is down Monday following a strong recent run-up as one Wall Street bank says “animal spirits” have pushed the stock beyond any “fundamental change” at the company. Joseph Spak at UBS noted that Tesla stock has surged around 40% since the election, adding over $350 million to its market cap. While some of President-elect Donald Trump's policy proposals could favor Tesla, there are some policy negatives as well that would hurt fundamentals more than where the theoretical upside has taken the stock. “The rise in Tesla stock is mostly driven by animal spirits/momentum (which has happened multiple times in TSLA’s history),” Spak wrote. The cryptocurrency has been on a steady climb since the Donald Trump's presidential victory earlier this month. On Friday the token inched above $99,600. Year-to-date bitcoin is up about 120%. Cruise line stocks have had an impressive run this year, and there’s still more room for growth, according to Bank of America. Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. ( NCLH ) and Carnival Corporation ( CCL ) have climbed more than 30% while Royal Caribbean Cruises ( RCL ) is up over 80% year-to-date. Bank of America raised Norwegian's price target to $29 from $26 and kept a Neutral rating. For Carnival, the firm raised the price target to $28 from $24 and kept a Buy rating, while for Royal Caribbean, analysts raised the price target to $240 from $210 and kept a Neutral rating. “The travel industry is back,” Bank of America analyst Andrew Didora told Yahoo Finance. “It just seems like the core demographic here for cruise [lines], which is typically a bit higher income, they continue to be in a good spot from a discretionary spending perspective.” Cruise-line operators have seen a resurgence in demand as interest rebounded from the pandemic-era, when the restrictions kept fleets docked. Data from Bank of America shows that monthly cruise spending increased 8% in October on a yearly basis. Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares dropped to session lows, sinking more than 3% on Monday. The AI chip heavyweight was the worst performer among the 'Magnificent 7' stocks. Tesla ( TSLA ) shares fell more than 1% while Alphabet ( GOOG , GOOGL ) and Amazon ( AMZN ) rose more than 1%. The Russell 2000 ( ^RUT ) rose more than 2% on Monday to hit its highest level since November 2021. The small cap index has rallied in recent months as the Fed began its interest rate cutting cycle, fueling expectations of less expensive financing. The Russell 2000 is up more than 20% year-to-date, with much of those gains occurring since early August. Two more Wall Street strategists are projecting the bull market in US stocks will roll on in 2025. On Monday, equity strategy teams at Barclays and RBC Capital Markets both issued a year-end target price of 6,600 for the S&P 500 ( ^GSPC ) in 2025. The targets suggest a roughly 10.5% gain in the benchmark index over the next twelve months, about in line with the long-term historical average annual return over the past century. "The story the data tells us is that another year of solid economic and earnings growth, some political tailwinds, and some additional relief on inflation (which should keep the S&P 500’s P/E elevated) can keep stocks moving higher in the year ahead," RBC Capital Markets head of US equity strategy Lori Calvasina wrote in a note to clients on Monday. Venu Krishna, head of US equity strategy at Barclays, wrote that with "inflation continuing to normalize, resilient macro, and Big Tech maintaining EPS growth leadership," the S&P 500 should continue its march higher. Axios reported on Monday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to terms of a ceasefire, citing a senior US official. Earlier, the Israeli ambassador to Washington said in a radio interview on Monday that deal points still need to be finalized but an agreement "can happen within days.” Nvidia ( NVDA ) shares dropped as much as 3% in early trading as the AI chip heavyweight failed to participate in the rest of the market gains. Nvidia shares extended their decline from Friday's session, despite the company beating on quarterly results announced last week. The AI chipmaker has been a leader in the overall markets this year, accounting for roughly 20% of the S&P 500's performance. US stocks rose on Monday as investors await the Fed's preferred measure of inflation this week and after President-elect Donald Trump announced his pick for Treasury secretary, Scott Bessent.
