The Las Vegas Grand Prix is back for a second year, and so is Brad Pitt . The 60-year-old actor was spotted in Sin City not to watch the event but to continue filming his upcoming movie F1 , in which he’ll play veteran race car driver Sonny Hayes, Daily Mail reported . Pitt, a well-known Formula One fan, attended the event in Nevada last year where he appeared to be doing field research for the role. This time around, he was shooting a scene on a hotel balcony with his co-star Kerry Condon who will star as Kate. Damson Idris, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo have also joined the cast. The highly anticipated movie is set to premiere next summer in June 2025. The flick is being directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, the same duo who worked on the remake of the navy drama Top Gun: Maverick . Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton is also serving as a consultant for the movie. “Filmed yesterday, and it’s coming out next year,” Bruckheimer told Entertainment Tonight during the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix . “It’ll be very exciting, we have Brad Pitt racing, we did some background filming and we’ll be back here next year.” Last month, Pitt attended the Mexico City Grand Prix to film additional scenes for the movie. Not only did he show up to the event, but he could be seen exiting a car on the Hermanos Rodríguez racetrack wearing the suit and helmet of the fictional APX GP team, the British publication reported. Filming began at Silverstone back in July 2023 when Pitt hit the track at the British Grand Prix . The motion picture has made it a point to shoot scenes in real-time during several international F1 races including the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In order to capture all the high-speed racing action, Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda teamed up with Sony to develop custom cameras that could be mounted onto the cars. Apple Studios released a teaser trailer for the film just before this year’s British Grand Prix. In the movie, Pitt’s character retires from the sport after suffering a crash but is thrusted back into action when he’s recruited by F1 team owner (Bardem) to mentor the rookie phenom Joshua Pearce (Idris). “I’m a little giddy right now, I’ve got to say,” Pitt told Sky Sports while at Silverstone. “It’s the best time of my life...The vibe is amazing, but just to get to be a part of it in this way, and get to tell our story...All the teams have opened their doors for us. Everyone has just been really, really amazing, that we can do this. And it’s going to be really good.”Mid-range down jackets typically range from $100 to $300. DAVV Alumni Meet: Registration Deadline Extended To December 19NEW YORK — President-elect Donald Trump wants to turn the lights out on daylight saving time. In a post on his social media site Friday, Trump said his party would try to end the practice when he returns to office. “The Republican Party will use its best efforts to eliminate Daylight Saving Time, which has a small but strong constituency, but shouldn’t! Daylight Saving Time is inconvenient, and very costly to our Nation,” he wrote. Setting clocks forward one hour in the spring and back an hour in the fall is intended to maximize daylight during summer months, but has long been subject to scrutiny. Daylight saving time was first adopted as a wartime measure in 1942. Lawmakers have occasionally proposed getting rid of the time change altogether. The most prominent recent attempt, a now-stalled bipartisan bill named the Sunshine Protection Act , had proposed making daylight saving time permanent. The measure was sponsored by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio , whom Trump has tapped to helm the State Department. “Changing the clock twice a year is outdated and unnecessary,” Republican Sen. Rick Scott of Florida said as the Senate voted in favor of the measure. Health experts have said that lawmakers have it backward and that standard time should be made permanent. Some health groups , including the American Medical Association and American Academy of Sleep Medicine, have said that it’s time to do away with time switches and that sticking with standard time aligns better with the sun — and human biology. Most countries do not observe daylight saving time. For those that do, the date that clocks are changed varies, creating a complicated tapestry of changing time differences. Arizona and Hawaii don't change their clocks at all.

Hampton sweeps past UnakaThe arctic blast impacting much of the continental U.S. may be ending soon, but one region is bracing another cold-related weather event this week. The eastern half of the U.S. from Minnesota to northern Florida and up to New England was blanketed in frigid conditions on Friday morning, a continuation of freezing temperatures experienced all over the country in recent days. Wind chills Friday morning were below zero degrees Fahrenheit in Minneapolis, near-zero in Chicago and in the teens and single digits in the Northeast. Temperatures are near freezing in northern Florida and southern Georgia, where a frost advisory was issued. MORE: Arctic blast to blanket much of US with below-freezing temperatures Lake effect snow -- the result of cold air moving over the Great Lakes while they are still ice-free -- brought 3.5 feet of snow to western New York and up to 20 inches to northern lower Michigan on Thursday. Winds gusted to near 40 mph, creating whiteout conditions in heaviest lake-effect snow bands. On Friday morning, the lake effect snow warning continued for Ohio, Pennsylvania and western New York, where some areas could accumulate between 6 inches and a foot of snow, forecasts show. The cold air will last for one more day on Saturday before a moderating trend begins on Sunday and into next week for most of the East. However, a new storm system is moving into the Plains and the Midwest Friday into Saturday morning. The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for Iowa and other ice alerts from Kansas to Minnesota. MORE: It’s cold outside, what happened to global warming? Meteorologists explain climate versus weather. Cities like Des Moines, Minneapolis and Omaha are under alerts later from Friday and into Saturday morning. Freezing rain could glaze roads to more than a half an inch, creating treacherous driving conditions. What is an ice storm? Heavy precipitation when temperatures are below freezing can create an ice storm, according to the National Weather Service . MORE: Why ice did not form in the Great Lakes this winter season Accumulations of ice can down trees, communication towers and utility poles, according to the NWS. In addition, ice storms can create black ice -- patchy ice on roadways or other transportation surfaces that cannot easily be seen -- and ice jams in lakes and streams, which can contribute to severe flooding, the NWS said. How to prepare for an ice storm The NWS advises residents under threat of a winter storm to make sure homes, vehicles and offices are stocked with necessary supplies, such as chargers, food, first aid kids, fuel and jumper cables. The agency also advised residents to make sure pets and farm animals have the essentials they need.

EAGAN, Minn. (AP) — Jonathan Greenard was gassed, gasping for breath and gulping some water late in the game on Minnesota's sideline, having chased around Arizona quarterback Kyler Murray to the point of sheer exhaustion after fighting through an illness all week. The Cardinals faced fourth down in those closing seconds on Sunday , trailing by one, and Greenard needed a break. Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell let defensive coordinator Brian Flores see the formation the Cardinals sent out and deftly called timeout. The Vikings badly wanted Greenard, who'd been battling an illness all week, back in the game. “'You ready to go? You ready to go? You ready to go?'” O'Connell asked, smiling later as he reflected on his eagerness and the rarity of using a timeout to give a defensive player a rest. “No doubt, he was going back on the field and going to have a really impactful snap.” Greenard and the rest of the pass rush put enough heat on Murray to force a hurried throw that Shaquill Griffin intercepted to seal a 23-22 comeback victory that stretched Minnesota's winning streak to five. “He’s playing some high-level football. I don’t know where we’re at with postseason accolades, but he should be in the conversation for a number of those,” Flores said. “I feel like I say this every week: We’re lucky to have him.” Greenard is tied for fourth in the NFL with 32 pressures, according to Sportradar tracking. He's also tied for fourth in the league with 10 sacks. “He’s always popping off the tape, no matter what week it is,” teammate Harrison Smith said. “Especially in crunch time.” Those basic statistics only begin to show the impact Greenard has made on the Vikings, who made him their top priority in free agency this year once it was clear Danielle Hunter priced himself out of the plan. Greenard has not only blossomed into one of the league's most effective edge rushers after four injury-limited seasons with Houston, but he has also been a major part of Minnesota's success against the ground attack to the tune of an NFL-leading average allowance of 81.3 rushing yards per game. “The underrated part is just the all-down aspect of the physicality, setting edges, playing blocks and making some plays at or behind the line of scrimmage that set up his chances to then rush the passer,” O'Connell said. “He’s played a ton. We’re trying to be aware of just how much he’s played and see if we can give him some spurts here and there where we can kind of keep his play count where we want it, but at the same time he’s one of our best players. As I like to call him, he’s the closer.” Never was that nickname more evident than against the Cardinals. Pushed wide on his rush by left tackle Paris Johnson Jr., Greenard stabbed at Murray with his left hand to graze just enough of the ball to poke it loose. Murray fell on it to maintain possession, but the sack put the Cardinals in an uphill third-and-13 play. This time, Greenard deftly slid to the inside to keep full vision on one of the NFL’s most elusive quarterbacks. Pressure by Patrick Jones prompted Murray to take off as he barely avoided another sack, and Greenard was in ideal position to minimize the scramble. Once Murray hesitated to try to juke him and approaching cornerback Byron Murphy for more yardage, Greenard caught up and corralled him — inbounds, forcing the Cardinals to burn another timeout — for a 3-yard gain. Afterward, Greenard drew a straight line from those plays back to his offseason training. “If your tongue ain’t on the ground after your workouts, I feel like you’re not doing enough, especially the guys on the quarterbacks,” Greenard said. With the U.S. Bank Stadium crowd roaring, Greenard doubled over and asked to be subbed out. “I just wanted to show that I’m running my tail off to that football. It just so happened that he cut back and I was like, ‘Oh, perfect,'” Greenard said. “That was tough.” AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFLIn conclusion, Liverpool's ascent to an 82% likelihood of winning the Premier League highlights the team's outstanding form and determination to succeed. With the finish line in sight, all eyes will be on Anfield as the Reds look to maintain their lead and secure the coveted title. As for Arsenal and Manchester City, they will need to regroup and bounce back quickly if they are to challenge Liverpool for the championship.
