PBB's seamless transitions are the reason for its lasting powerSecond-warmest November on record means that 2024 is likely to be Earth's hottest yearThe U.S. State Department says it has “taken steps to secure the U.S. embassy” in Syria following the collapse of the Assad government. This comes after the toppling of more than 50 years of a dictatorship there, showing an uncertain way forward for any new government. "The fall of the regime is a fundamental act of justice," President Joe Biden said Sunday , but warned that the significant change will also mark a period of uncertainty for Syria and the region. "As we all turn to the question of what comes next, the United States will work with our partners and the stakeholders in Syria to help them seize an opportunity to manage the risks," President Biden said. The Biden administration plans to lend its support to establishing a transitional government in Syria. The White House is in close communication with stakeholders in the region, including Jordan's King Abdullah. More conversations with leaders are expected in the days ahead. RELATED STORY | Military command of Syria's opposition says Damascus is 'free' of Bashar Assad's rule Other countries and groups have a shared interest in continued stability in Syria, but officials also acknowledged the power vacuum carries risks. White House officials told Scripps News the administration is focused on preventing the ISIS terror group from taking advantage of the situation. "One of the things that we're going to work hard to avoid is ISIS being able to exploit this situation and somehow try to revitalize," White House National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby said in an interview. "That is a message that we are sending to all the opposition groups through various means that this is not the opportunity — should not be the time — for a closer relationship, or any relationship, quite frankly, with Isis." "What we are backing is the Syrian people. And we want to make sure that again, through our interlocutors and through the United Nations, we're doing what we can to see legitimate governance there." The conflict in Syria has spanned multiple administrations and is often considered a proxy for the goals of other international actors, including Russia. Officials pointed in part to President Biden's support of Israel and Ukraine as factors that weakened Iran and Russia's ability to support Assad — and one senior administrator official explained that Assad's departure "changed the equation" in the Middle East. But Republican President-elect Donald Trump has indicated the U.S. relationship with Syria may change when he takes office. "Syria is a mess, but is not our friend," Trump wrote on social media over the weekend. "The United States should have nothing to do with it. This is not our fight." Kirby told Scripps News that for the remaining time the Biden Administration has to set U.S. foreign policy, it would continue its mission to suppress ISIS and support legitimate government in Syria.
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Los Angeles Chargers running back J.K Dobbins is unlikely to play against the Atlanta Falcons this week because of a knee injury. Dobbins was hurt in the first half of the Chargers’ 30-23 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday night. He had six carries for 40 yards and three catches for 19 yards before leaving the game. Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh declined to get into specifics of the injury Wednesday, other than confirming Dobbins is “working through something with his knee,” he said. Dobbins had been putting together a strong first season for the Chargers (7-4) after his past three years in Baltimore had been injury-riddled. He has 766 yards rushing and eight touchdowns through 11 games for Los Angeles, which had positioned Dobbins as a strong candidate for AP Comeback Player of the Year. Dobbins tore his Achilles tendon in the 2023 season opener for Baltimore. He also tore his ACL in 2021, and the effects of that injury lingered into the following season. Dobbins played in just 24 of a possible 67 regular-season games for the Ravens, who drafted him in the second round in 2020. “We feel horrible for him,” quarterback Justin Herbert said. “He’s such a tough, tough teammate, and the way he’s fought through so many injuries, we have no doubt he’s going to be back better than ever. And so it’s up to us. It’s our responsibility to hold it down while he’s gone.” The absence of Dobbins leaves Gus Edwards, Hassan Haskins and rookie Kimani Vidal as the Chargers’ current options at running back. Edwards missed four games because of a high ankle sprain and has 206 yards and one touchdown in seven appearances. Haskins has mostly been a special teams contributor, while Vidal has been inactive for seven games, including each of the past three. Market size growth for blood gas and electrolyte analyzers has been quite remarkable in recent years, withestimated expansion from $3.26 billion in 2023 to $3.52 billion in 2024 at a compound annual growth rate CAGR of 8.0%. This surge can be linked to rapid urbanization, the growing number of patients in emergency units of hospitals, improved infrastructure in diagnostic centers, rising earnings and standard of living, increased healthcare expenditure, an increase in the elderly population, and the rise in obesity. What Does the Future Hold for the Blood Gas and Electrolyte Analyzers Market? Future growth in the blood gas and electrolyte analyzers market looks promising and is prognosticated to reach $4.86 billion in 2028 at a compound annual growth rate CAGR of 8.4%. This anticipated growth can be pinned on increasing government initiatives, a rising number of patients in critical care units and intensive care units ICU, escalations in medical tourism, and a surge in chronic diseases. Other major trends to look forward to include technological advancements, product innovations, digital blood gas analyzers, automated blood gas analyzers, the use of venous blood gas values, and complete blood count CBC diagnostics technology. To delve into more comprehensive insights about this burgeoning market, feel free to download a sample report here: What's Driving this Growth? A primary accelerator of this market's growth is the increased number of patients which led to an uptick in blood sample testing. Blood tests are utilized for various purposes, including measuring cholesterol and blood glucose levels. These tests aid in monitoring the risk of heart disease, vascular disease, and diabetes, as well as evaluating how effective treatments are. For example, in 2021 of the 118.5 million blood donations received globally, 40% were garnered in high-income countries. Intriguingly, children under five years old receive almost 54% of blood transfusions in low-income nations, whereas in high-income countries, patients over 60 years old receive up to 75% of all transfusions. It becomes clear, then, how the increase in patient numbers fuels the growth of the blood gas and electrolyte analyzers market.
