A brand new Greek restaurant, , is getting ready to make its debut in , located at The new restaurant, led by owner in partnership with , a consulting company with many years of knowledge, experience, and connections in the restaurant and hotel business, IT technologies, architecture and design, and furniture development. The company has assisted in opening several restaurants in Los Angeles, including OTUS, Kiff Cafe, Melrose Station, Coffee Attic, and the upcoming Syan Restaurant, an upscale Mediterranean concept. The Happiness Project is now partnering with Kochetkov to open Alisa: Wine & Friends in the former home of Plant Food and Wine, according to documents submitted to the Los Angeles Department of City Planning. This will be an excellent location for the new restaurant, as it is littered with a variety of different restaurants. While there are dozens of places to eat in the area, there are very few Greek options. This new restaurant hopes to fill that hole. When it opens, customers can expect a handful of appetizers and snacks, such as flatbreads, confit peppers, spanakopita, hummus, and more. There are plenty of options for the entrees and larger items, including Greek salad, red shrimp crudo, moussaka, braised cocoa beans with grilled red mullet and puttanesca butter, and grilled poussin with girolles and beef jus. If anyone wants to celebrate with a massive meal, this restaurant will have a few great options, including a pork souvla with grilled pardon peppers, a braised lamb leg dressed with rosemary and garlic, and whole sea bass made with salsa verde. These three items are encouraged to be shared between two and three people and cost $70, $90, and $110, respectively. Customers can expect baklava, greek donuts with pistachio custard, and yogurt and ice cream for dessert. Related Posts © What Now Media Group 2024. All rights reserved.

The year 2024 marks a milestone for the Olympic Movement, as the Summer Olympics return to Paris after a century. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) advanced significant reforms, ranging from the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) to the future of esports and diversified event formats. These changes are designed to attract broader audiences, particularly younger generations, and underscore the Olympic spirit of inclusivity and progress. With IOC President Thomas Bach finishing his term next year, 2024 is also a pivotal year of leadership transition. The election of a new president not only symbolizes a transfer of power but also sets the stage for a new chapter in the Olympic Movement’s journey. The 2024 Summer Olympics opened on July 26 with a dazzling ceremony along the Seine River, marking the first time in modern Olympic history that the opening ceremony was held outside a stadium. Athletes from 205 delegations traveled six kilometers by boat, from Pont d’Austerlitz to the Eiffel Tower, captivating the global audience with a seamless blend of urban scenery, history and Olympic ideals. Paris, hosting the Olympics for the third time, successfully integrating sports into the city. Iconic landmarks like the Eiffel Tower hosted beach volleyball, the Grand Palais held taekwondo, and breakdancing premiered at Place de la Concorde, creating new cultural dimensions for the Games. “We wanted to bring sports closer to the heart of the city and showcase Paris’ vibrancy and inclusivity,” said Paris 2024 President Tony Estanguet. The Paris Olympics achieved a historic milestone in gender equality, becoming the first Games to feature an equal number of male and female athletes, each representing 50 percent of the participants. The event also introduced more mixed-gender events, demonstrating the IOC’s commitment to equity. “Gender equality lies at the core of Olympism. Through the Paris Olympics, we aim to send a clear message that sports belong to everyone,” said Bach. Sustainability was another defining theme of Paris 2024. As a model for the IOC’s Olympic Agenda 2020+5, the event reduced carbon emissions by 50 percent compared to the previous Summer Games, prioritizing existing venues. Only three new facilities were built: the Porte de La Chapelle Arena, the Le Bourget Climbing Center and the Olympic Aquatic Center near Stade de France, and all will continue to serve local communities after the Games. The Olympic Village, featuring modular designs and eco-friendly technologies is converted into 3,000 residential units, creating lasting benefits for the community. “Paris 2024 is more than a sporting event, it’s a legacy for future generations,” said IOC Corporate and Sustainable Development Director Marie Sallois. In 2024, the IOC demonstrated foresight in advancing the Olympic Movement. In April, it launched the Olympic AI Agenda, outlining the potential of AI in sports. AI was deployed extensively at Paris 2024, from OBS’s “Cloud Venue” for live broadcasting to AI-enhanced refereeing and personalized athlete training programs. It even played a role in promoting a positive digital environment by combating online hate speech on social media. “AI enhances fairness, and efficiency, and delivers an immersive experience for global audiences,” Bach noted. To sustain Olympic excitement beyond the Games period, the IOC introduced the Olympic Qualifier Series, with two legs in Shanghai and Budapest featuring skateboarding, sport climbing, breakdancing and BMX freestyle. These innovative qualifiers drew top athletes competing for Paris 2024 berths and attracted younger audiences with music, cultural performances and interactive experiences. “The Qualifier Series is more than an experiment; it’s a new way to express Olympism,” said Pierre Fratter-Bardy, Olympic Games Strategy & Development Associate Director. Esports also gained momentum as a focus of IOC reforms. Following the formation of the Esports Committee, the IOC announced plans for the inaugural Olympic Esports Games in 2025 in Saudi Arabia. While esports offers vast opportunities to engage younger audiences, its alignment with Olympic values remains a key challenge. “Esports is a global language for youth, but we must ensure its values align with the Olympic spirit,” said David Lappartient, Chair of the IOC’s Esports and Gaming Liaison Group. Flexibility in event formats was another highlight of this year’s reforms. The Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics will introduce interactive cultural showcases while reducing event disciplines to 151, easing organizational burdens. The event will also achieve full gender parity and see Wushu debut as an official sport, celebrating the diversity of Olympic culture. These reforms, blending technology, youth engagement and cultural inclusion, have strengthened the Olympic Movement’s relevance and appeal. The achievements of 2024 set a solid foundation for future Games. As Bach’s 12-year tenure nears its end, the IOC is preparing for a leadership transition. Over his term, Bach led reforms like the Olympic Agenda 2020 and 2020+5, advancing sustainability, innovation and gender equality. This summer in Paris, the 70-year-old German announced he would step down in 2025, marking the start of a new chapter for the IOC. Seven candidates have entered the race to succeed Bach, including IOC Vice President Juan Antonio Samaranch Jr., World Athletics President Sebastian Coe, International Cycling Union President David Lappartient, Zimbabwean Olympic champion Kirsty Coventry, International Ski Federation President Johan Eliasch, International Gymnastics Federation President Morinari Watanabe, and Prince Faisal Al Hussein of Jordan. The election vote will take place in March 2025 in ancient Olympia. Candidates will present their visions in January before members cast their votes in a closed-door ballot. Meanwhile, the IOC’s commercial framework has seen significant changes. Three Japanese firms – Panasonic, Toyota and Bridgestone – will exit The Olympic Partner (TOP) program after 2024, raising questions about future partnerships. Despite these departures, the IOC remains confident in TOP’s global appeal. “TOP remains one of the most successful marketing platforms, and we are actively engaging new partners,” said an IOC marketing executive. Chinese brands have emerged as strong contenders, with firms like Hisense, Vivo and BYD having already gained international exposure through major sports sponsorships. As the Olympic Movement adapts to a shifting global landscape, new opportunities for partnership and growth are expected. Looking ahead, the Olympic Movement continues to embrace innovations. The Los Angeles 2028 Games promise to redefine AI-driven spectator experiences, leveraging cutting-edge technology for unprecedented engagement. Meanwhile, the 2030 Winter Olympics in France will fully implement green initiatives, setting a benchmark for sustainability in major sporting events. With evolving leadership, technological integration and cultural inclusivity, the Olympics stand poised for a new era of global unity and progress. ■Stock market today: Wall Street hits more records following a just-right jobs reportScreenshots of smartphone text messages have become a common feature in courtrooms, but their reliability is increasingly under scrutiny. A recent case involving eXp Realty founder Glenn Sanford illustrates that screenshots alone are not enough to prove text message authenticity. Sanford has previously submitted dozens of pages of text message screenshots of communications with some of the accused defendants. However, plaintiffs' attorneys contended that this method of "self-collection" was inadequate and failed to meet evidentiary standards, RisMedia reports. In response, Judge Alicia Rosenberg granted a protective order requiring Sanford to collaborate with a digital evidence expert to extract, authenticate, and provide the messages from the physical phone itself, but with privacy guardrails. A cell phone forensic examination can prove if a text message is authentic, but there is still the problem of privacy, which the protective order aims to address. When a digital forensics expert collects the data from a cell phone, they cannot selectively choose data beforehand. All the data has to be collected at the outset, meaning the examiner would have access to everything recoverable from the smartphone, including recovered deleted data. Digital Forensic Experts Cannot Pre-Filter Smartphone Data Before Collecting It Cell phone forensics is a complex process that relies on advanced tools like Cellebrite and Magnet Forensics Graykey to retrieve and analyze data from mobile devices. These tools are designed to capture all available data from a device in a single process called a forensic acquisition or extraction. Pre-filtering, selectively extracting only certain types of data before acquisition, is not possible due to technical, structural and evidentiary reasons inherent to the way mobile devices store and manage data. Smartphone Data Is Interconnected in Complex Databases Modern smartphones store data in highly interconnected databases that are often encrypted. Messages, metadata, app information, and even deleted files are often co-mingled in the same data structures. Here’s why pre-filtering isn’t feasible: To extract any specific data, forensic tools must first acquire the entirety of the smartphone’s recoverable contents, ensuring no connections or context are lost. What Is a Cell Phone Forensic Acquisition? The problem with screenshots of text messages is that they cannot be verified using digital forensic technology. Anyone with a modicum of technical sophistication can create fakes using websites or applications. This is why a cell phone forensic acquisition and examination is always superior. A forensic acquisition is the gold standard for retrieving data from a phone. Unlike a simple screenshot, this process involves accessing the phone directly and creating a digital copy of all recoverable data. This includes messages, timestamps, contact information, and even deleted content that might still reside in the device’s memory. By using specialized digital forensic tools, experts can pull this information without altering the data, preserving its original state. A process called “hashing” ensures that the digital copy is tamper-proof. Hashing generates a unique code—akin to a digital fingerprint—for the data, and any subsequent change to the evidence would alter the hash code, signaling potential tampering. Why Is a Forensic Acquisition Better Than Screenshots? Last month, I explained why screenshots of text messages along are inferior evidence , and are often dismissed in court because they are inherently unreliable. They can be cropped, edited, or taken out of context. In contrast, a forensic acquisition provides: What Does the Protective Order Do in This Case? When courts issue protective orders to limit the scope of discovery, they create a framework for balancing privacy rights with the need for relevant evidence. Digital forensic experts cannot filter cell phone data before collecting it. Instead, they must perform a forensic acquisition of the phone’s contents, capturing everything recoverable on the device, and then carefully filter the data afterward to comply with the court’s instructions. The protective order in this case prevents a full forensic examination of Sanford's cell phone. Instead of allowing unrestricted access to the entire contents of the smartphone, the court has limited the scope of discovery to ensure only relevant data is disclosed. Here’s how it works and why it matters: Restricts Unnecessary Intrusions: Cell phones hold a wealth of personal information, much of which may have no connection to the legal case. The protective order safeguards Sanford’s private data—such as personal communications, photos, or unrelated files—from being exposed during discovery. Ensures Relevance of Evidence: The court directed that only specific types of electronically stored information, or ESI, relevant to the case—such as text messages, timestamps, and deleted communications—be extracted and reviewed. This ensures that discovery is focused and not a “fishing expedition” into unrelated matters. Mandates Use of an Electronic Evidence Expert: To strike a balance between privacy and the need for evidence, the judge required the parties to collaborate with an electronic evidence expert. The expert’s role is to extract and authenticate the relevant data while filtering out extraneous information. This process reduces the risk of misusing private data and enhances the reliability of the evidence. Protects Against Abuse of Discovery: Without a protective order, unrestricted smartphone forensic examination could lead to the exposure of sensitive information unrelated to the case. This could be used improperly to pressure or embarrass the opposing party. The protective order ensures that discovery remains proportional and fair. But What About Phone And Call Detail Records: Can They Prove Screenshot Authenticity? Short Message Service, or SMS, and Multimedia Messaging Service, or MMS, messages are sent through the cellular carrier's network. When these messages are transmitted, the carrier generates records of these messages in call detail records , or CDRs. These records provide metadata about the communication, including timestamps, sender and recipient phone numbers and the cell tower used to make the call. However, CDRs do not capture the actual content of the message—just that it was sent or received. The contents of the messages exist for a short period of time before being erased by telecommunication service providers. Because of this, while the existence of an SMS or MMS message can sometimes be corroborated through carrier logs, the only way to confirm the content of the message is by examining the sender’s or receiver’s phone directly . Without access to the device, the conversation contents are unrecoverable. In other words, CDRs can prove a SMS or MMS message was sent or received, but you can only recover the actual conversations that took place from the phone itself with cell phone forensics. In contrast, messages sent through platforms like iMessage, WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram Messenger, Facebook Messenger, and all other chat apps rely on internet data connections—either Wi-Fi or mobile data. These messages bypass the carrier's network entirely, meaning they are not logged in CDRs. Carriers cannot verify their existence, metadata, or content because these messages are outside their domain. For data-based messages, the only record typically resides on the phones of the sender or recipient. In some cases, the platforms themselves may retain encrypted copies of the data, but these are generally inaccessible without specific legal requests and cooperation from the service provider. Screenshots can be easily manipulated, cropped, or fabricated, and they lack the metadata necessary to prove a message’s origin, timing, and context. For traditional SMS and MMS, screenshots cannot be cross-referenced with carrier logs to confirm the contents of a message, since the message contents are not recorded in the CDRs. For data-based messages, where no carrier logs exist, screenshots are even more problematic—they offer no mechanism for independent verification. Court Responds: Privacy and Authenticity Matter The only way to authenticate a message reliably is through a digital forensic examination of the physical smartphone. This process can retrieve not only the visible messages but also the underlying metadata and, where possible, deleted messages and other supporting artifacts. It provides a comprehensive and verifiable record, ensuring that the evidence stands up to scrutiny in court. The eXp Realty case highlights this reality. By seeking a forensic examination to access text messages and metadata, the plaintiffs aimed to move beyond potentially unreliable screenshots to establish a full and accurate picture of the communications, and the court agreed. As a digital forensics expert, I have witnessed firsthand how courts are relying on protective orders like this with increasing commonality. With the protective order, the court is signaling that privacy matters, but so does proper evidence authentication. This case illustrates the necessity of digital forensic methods to ensure the integrity of electronic evidence in the modern legal system. In a world where digital communications are central to many disputes, screenshots of smartphone text messages alone are no longer sufficient.

In a significant move to address youth unemployment, AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine has donated essential tools and equipment to 10 Mastercraft persons—including beauticians and hairdressers—who will train 19 youth apprentices from the Sanso community in the Obuasi Municipality. This initiative is part of the company’s broader commitment to youth empowerment, aligned with its 10-year Socio-Economic Development Plan (SEDP). The project, dubbed the Sanso Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship (A2E) Project, aims to equip the unemployed youth of Sanso with both the practical skills and the entrepreneurial knowledge needed to secure sustainable livelihoods. Over a period of 8 to 12 months, apprentices will receive hands-on training from Mastercraft persons, who themselves will undergo technical and entrepreneurship training to further enhance their teaching capabilities. The beneficiaries of the project will not only acquire vocational skills but also gain valuable entrepreneurship training, ultimately preparing them for the NVTI certification exam. This dual approach is designed to give the youth both the technical expertise and business acumen to thrive in their chosen trades. Daniel Arthur-Bentum, the Economic Development Superintendent of AngloGold Ashanti’s Obuasi Mine, explained that the project was born out of a series of consultations with the people of Sanso. AGA’s engagement revealed a strong desire among the youth to pursue vocational training, but many lacked the financial means to enroll in such programs. Through the A2E initiative, the company seeks to bridge that gap and ensure that young people in the community have the tools, knowledge, and resources to build successful careers. Arthur-Bentum further emphasized that the project is designed with a well-thought-out exit strategy, ensuring that once the apprentices complete their training, AGA will provide them with startup kits to help them launch their businesses. This commitment aims to ensure that the initiative leaves a lasting impact on the community by fostering long-term economic self-sufficiency. Justice Ofori Amanfo, the Assembly Member for the Sanso electoral area, commended AGA for its proactive efforts in tackling youth unemployment in the area. He noted that by providing the youth with valuable employable skills, the company is playing a crucial role in uplifting the community and promoting economic development. For Alice Twumasi, a local hairdresser, the A2E project represents a step in the right direction for tackling youth unemployment in the region. She urged the beneficiaries to fully capitalize on the opportunity, emphasizing that the project is a pathway to economic independence and long-term success. The Sanso Apprenticeship to Entrepreneurship (A2E) Project is one of several youth-focused initiatives under AGA’s 10-year Social and Economic Development Plan, which aims to build resilient and self-sustaining communities in Obuasi. By focusing on skills development and entrepreneurship, the program is poised to significantly improve the livelihoods of youth in Sanso, creating not only jobs but also opportunities for lasting economic growth in the region.Jimmy Carter, 39th U.S. president, Nobel winner, dies at 100
Bowers has 108 receptions to top the mark set last season by Puka Nacua (105) of the Los Angeles Rams. Bowers' yardage stands at 1,144 after having seven receptions for 77 yards in a 25-10 road victory over the New Orleans Saints. Bowers also set a franchise receptions for catches in a season, surpassing Darren Waller (107 in 2020). "It's awesome," Bowers said of the records in a postgame interview on Fox. "You never know what to expect coming up to the next level. It's been everything and more." Bowers' third catch on Sunday -- a 13-yard grab late in the second quarter against the Saints -- pushed his season total to 1,087 yards. Ditka totaled 1,076 receiving yards in 14 games with the Chicago Bears in 1961. Bowers, 22, set the record for receptions by a rookie tight end earlier this season by eclipsing the total of 86 reeled in by Sam LaPorta of the Detroit Lions in 2023. Bowers was selected by the Raiders with the 13th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft. Despite all his catches, he has just four scoring receptions. While with Georgia, Bowers was the first back-to-back winner of the Mackey Award (2022, 2023), which is given to the top tight end in college football. --Field Level Media

Frisch's Big Boy Closures Hit Northern Kentucky Amid Rent DisputesCongratulations to everyone reading this. You survived spooky and for that, you deserve to enjoy Sagittarius Season 2024 in all its glory! As Scorpio Season comes to a close, in its place comes Sagittarius Season, bringing the archer’s adventurous energy into our lives, just in time for summer (yiewwww!). What is Sagittarius Season 2024? While was, , the dark mistress of the zodiac, Sagittarius is the energetic firecracker who cannot sit still, which is perfect considering the next few seasons are gonna be crazy busy. I’m assuming the last month or so was an emotional mess for you what with the sensitive water element vibe of Scorp Sun, so now you want nothing more than to shake that shit off and have fun, with no strings attached. Sagittarius energy is all about adventure, and that’s exactly what you need to embrace this season. Sagittarians love to explore new places, learn new things and break out of old routines. So brush off the dust that and get ready to shimmy into the new year with optimism and positivity. What does it mean for each star sign? As we know, each astrological season’s energy can impact the signs in different ways, and sadly it won’t be a total party for my earth signs. The main reason for this is because Sagittarius Season is a time to be adventurous and free — and grounded, goal-oriented earth signs usually have a harder time letting their hair down. Capricorn, and Virgo will likely cop the brunt of the silly season. They’ll be stressing over gift giving, the lack of funds and their general disdain for the bedlam and mayhem that ensues. You should be feeling happy and free but sadly, because of the heccas nature of the szn, you’ll be feeling anything but. I know you folks hate transformation and hate being told what to do even more, but try taking a leaf out of your fire sign pals’ book, throw back a tequila shot and just bloody enjoy yourself. Write those lists, buy those pressies, and sort your end-of-year work shit out so you can have a damn good time. The energy of Sagittarius Season will bring clarity to my Cancer sign pals and you’ll realise that someone in your inner circle has been taking your kindness and compassion for granted and using your friendship to benefit them. Channel the Sagittarian strength and revoke this person’s access to your life. As for Libra babes, this season is all about R&R (rest and recovery) for you. Cancel any and all plans to chill the fuck out and look after yourself. To avoid burning out by the end of the season, it’s definitely be wise for you to sit some events out and reserve your strength (and $$$) for a select few shindigs. Speaking of dollar, dollar bills, Scorpios will be wise to take stock of their finances and avoid overspending at this time. The last thing you wanna do is enter the new year eating nothing but 2-minute noodles and avoiding group hangs ‘cos you’ve blown your budget too soon. Create a to figure out what you want for yourself and try some . The season of the fire sign will light a fire under the relationships of bb . You’ll feel a shift in the waters, relationship wise, and the key message here is to make smart decisions. Feel with your heart, but 1000 per cent think with your head as well. Networking opportunities will be all around for and if you play your cards right, you might even find a professional break. And as for my , defs don’t drop the ball at work now that the year’s coming to a close because your hard work could lead to a well-deserved promotion. Summon that positive and enthusiastic Sagi energy to put in the hard yards. Your efforts will be rewarded. Now, where are my fire signs at? It’s your time to shine, bb. Intensity-filled Scorpio season was the harshest on your sign so you, of all people, will be embracing Sagittarius season with open arms. You’ve been in major need of an adventure and after months of dealing with everyone’s shit, now’s the time to let go and be free. Aries, if you’ve been pondering whether or not you should book a summer vacay, let this be your sign that the answer is Y-E-S. Now is not the time for restricting yourself and with celestial energy on your side, I’d recommend giving your travel agent a bell ASAP. This time is also about self-reflection and transformation for yu. , as with your fire sign pals, you’ll finally earn the recognition you’ve been craving all year. It’s also a time to get the hell out there and be your typical social butterfly self. Make up for all those months we were trapped indoors by having a raging good time night after night. And we’ve saved the best ’til last, our birthday babe Sagittarius. Expect good fortune, growth, and synchronicity. Take risks, make changes, have a fucken ball. Whatever plans you’ve been thinking of doing but were to afraid to put into action, now’s the time, bb. See y’all on the other side. Meanwhile, head to read your November horoscopes 2024 to see what you’re in for over the next few weeks.
There wasn’t much that was aesthetically pleasing about watching Kenny Pickett play quarterback Sunday. He wears gloves, for one thing, because he finds that they’re more comfortable and help him better grip a football. But no quarterback who wears gloves appears as graceful and fluid throwing the ball as a quarterback who doesn’t wear them. What’s more, on every pass, whether it was a go route to DeVonta Smith or a screen to Saquon Barkley, Pickett seemed to be putting all his might into every throw. None of these observations meant that Pickett had a poor game in the Eagles’ 41-7 romp over the Cowboys, in the victory that clinched for them the NFC East title and at least the No. 2 seed in the conference playoff bracket. On the contrary, despite some skittish moments early on, Pickett was excellent: 10-for-15, 143 yards, one passing touchdown, one Tush Push touchdown. His style of play was reminiscent of a previous Eagles backup QB, Jeff Garcia, and his production was, too. Pickett left the game with just less than nine minutes remaining in the third quarter after taking a shot to his already-sore ribs from the Cowboys’ Micah Parsons. But then Tanner McKee stepped in for Pickett, tossed a touchdown to A.J. Brown on a beautiful back-shoulder throw, and the Eagles just rolled along. Hello, 13-3. Goodbye, any worries about Jalen Hurts’ absence. At least for the moment. And it might be only a moment. Had Hurts suffered a knee sprain or bruised shoulder last Sunday against the Washington Commanders, everyone would have a clearer sense of his immediate future. There would be a more reliable and defined timeline for his return. But he didn’t sprain his knee or bruise his shoulder. He was concussed, and though he wanted to get back into action immediately, there’s really no telling when he’ll be able to play again. He might pass the league-mandated protocol in the next few days and be ready to go for the postseason’s first round, in two weeks, or ... the Eagles’ medical staff might not clear him at all. Head trauma is that unpredictable, and it demands that much patience and care. With Hurts at full health, the Eagles are an obvious favorite to reach and, once there, win the Super Bowl. And in most such situations, when a quarterback who is that valuable to his team goes down, that team would be so crippled that it would no longer be considered a championship contender. Take Patrick Mahomes away from the Kansas City Chiefs or Josh Allen from the Buffalo Bills, of course, and those teams aren’t nearly so formidable, and the same principle applies to those QBs who are a tier below Mahomes and Allen: Jared Goff with the Detroit Lions, say, or Hurts with the Eagles. Even Sunday’s lopsided outcome at Lincoln Financial Field doesn’t necessarily mean the Eagles would be just hunky-dory in the playoffs if Hurts is still sidelined. The Cowboys didn’t have Dak Prescott or CeeDee Lamb or Trevon Diggs, and they weren’t exactly tearing up the NFL this season when those were healthy, anyway. Remember, though: The Eagles have a long history of surviving, even thriving, after losing their starting quarterback to injury. In 2002, Donovan McNabb broke his ankle, and the Eagles kept winning with Koy Detmer and A.J. Feeley. In 2006, Garcia filled in for McNabb and became a folk hero for his contributions to an out-of-nowhere run to a division title and the NFC divisional round. And no one around here needs reminding of what happened after Carson Wentz had his left knee torn up in early December 2017. That overwhelming doubt that usually accompanies seeing a star quarterback limp or stagger to the sideline? Yeah, Nick Foles caused a lot of it to evaporate forever. Those episodes don’t have much direct relevance to this particular Eagles team in this particular Eagles season. But they do serve as good reminders that whether Pickett or McKee or Ian Book turns out to be the one taking snaps in another meaningful game, there’s still a chance, maybe a good one, that this team — especially this team, with this collection of skill-position standouts, with this offensive line, with this defense — can withstand being without Hurts. The Eagles have been here before. These Eagles look like they can handle it. (Mike Sielski is a columnist for the The Philadelphia Inquirer .) ©2024 The Philadelphia Inquirer, LLC. Lahore: In a groundbreaking initiative by Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) has launched a new program, CM’s Skills Development Program for Transgenders to drive social change and inclusion. The primary focus of this program is to empower the transgender community through comprehensive skills development and income generation opportunities through the provision of toolkits and concessionary loans. Pakistan's transgender community is estimated to be over 4 million but remains marginalized. Across the country only 20,000 transgender individuals are registered, resulting in exclusion from formal education, skills training, and employment opportunities. In light of these challenges, CM Punjab is eager to empower the transgender community by providing access to formal education and training in market-relevant trades. The objective of this program is to skill 2,200 transgender individuals and provide them with on-the-job training resulting in meaningful employment opportunities over 2 years. This program aims to focus on skills training in market-relevant trades like performing arts, beauty services, domestic tailoring, culinary arts, and IT with an inclusive approach that incorporates Gurus and other transgender individuals as trainers. This ensures that the training is not only comprehensive but also culturally sensitive and empathetic, with dedicated classrooms thoughtfully designed to support the unique needs of the transgender community. In order to mobilize transgender individuals for the program, PSDF has entered a strategic partnership with Khawaja Sira Society. Mahnoor Chaudary, Director of Khawaja Sira Society, emphasized on what part they will play to make this collaboration fruitful saying, “We will identify and mobilize potential transgender trainees through community engagement and will facilitate the creation of CNICs, provide access to HIV testing, and conduct capacity-building sessions to raise awareness about the program’s outcomes. Additionally, we will ensure continuous collaboration with PSDF to track progress and ensure successful integration into the workforce”. Financial support is a key component of the program as trainees will have access to concessionary micro-finance and toolkits increasing the prospects of starting businesses or securing jobs. Additionally, the program will assist transgender individuals with registration and documentation with NADRA, enhancing their social and financial inclusion. The integration of both social and financial support ensures a more inclusive society where transgender individuals can contribute to and benefit from the economic mainstream. Ahmed Khan, CEO of PSDF, said: “We are thrilled to launch this program, which represents a significant step towards social inclusion and empowerment for Pakistan's transgender community. It will prove to be a significant step in achieving an equitable and inclusive society”.
