New York Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said Aaron Rodgers “absolutely” will remain the team's starting quarterback and start Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks. Rodgers, who turns 41 next Monday, has been hampered at times during the Jets' 3-8 start by various injuries to his left leg, including a sore knee, sprained ankle and balky hamstring. Ulbrich said Monday the quarterback came back from the team's bye-week break ready to go. “All I can say, and you'd have to ask Aaron if he's fully healthy, but he's better off today than he's been as of late,” Ulbrich said. "So he's definitely feeling healthier than he has probably for the past month. A healthy Aaron Rodgers is the Aaron Rodgers we all love. “So, I'm excited about what that looks like.” NFL Network reported on Sunday that Rodgers, who missed all but four snaps last season with a torn left Achilles tendon , has declined having medical scans on his injured leg so he can continue to play. “I have not been informed of that, either way,” Ulbrich said. Rodgers suffered what NFL Network reported was a “significant” hamstring injury against Denver in Week 4. He then sprained his left ankle against Minnesota in London a week later. The four-time MVP has not been able to consistently move around during games as he has in the past, when extending plays and making things happen on the run became such a big part of his game. Rodgers said leading into New York's 28-27 loss to Indianapolis last Sunday that it was the healthiest he felt in a while. But he struggled against the Colts, finishing 22 of 29 for 184 yards after a brutally slow start during which he went 9 of 13 for just 76 yards. The Athletic reported last week that owner Woody Johnson broached the idea during a meeting with the coaching staff of having the banged-up Rodgers sit after the Jets' loss to Denver in Week 4. With Rodgers' struggles and perhaps compromised health the past few games, a hot debate on social media and sports talk shows during the past week has been whether the quarterback should take a seat in favor of Tyrod Taylor. But when asked if there has been any talk of shutting down Rodgers, Ulbrich replied flatly: “There has not.” In a follow-up question, the interim coach was asked if Rodgers will, in fact, be the Jets' starting quarterback at home Sunday against the Seahawks. “Absolutely,” Ulbrich said. He added that he didn't feel the need to sit down with Rodgers and address all the reports and chatter outside the facility. “No, I feel like we are on the same page,” the coach said. Last week, Ulbrich said he and his staff would take “a deep dive” into what the team could do better after losing seven of its past eight and being on the verge of missing the postseason for the 14th consecutive year. Ulbrich opted not to make any changes to the coaching responsibilities of his staff and he will continue to run the defense as the coordinator. He also said there would not be any personnel changes coming out of the bye, barring injuries. “But definitely, we created a really clear vision of where we need to improve and found some things,” Ulbrich said. “Obviously, you find the things that you’re not doing well, you need to improve upon them, but then also found some some things that I think we can really build upon. So I was excited in both ways.” Johnson fired general manager Joe Douglas last Tuesday, six weeks after he also dismissed coach Robert Saleh. On Monday, the team announced it would be assisted by The 33rd Team , a football media, analytics and consulting group founded by former Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, in its searches for a general manager and coach. Ulbrich insisted that isn't creating an awkward situation for him, in particular, as he and his staff focus on the present while the organization begins planning for the future. “In all honesty, it’s not at all,” Ulbrich said. “My singular focus is just finishing the season off the right way, playing a brand of football we’re all proud of, myself included. And that starts with Seattle.” LB C.J. Mosley said he's “progressing” in his return from a herniated disk in his neck, but is still uncertain about his availability for Sunday. Mosley said Monday was the first time he put on a helmet since the injury occurred during pregame warmups against New England on Oct. 27. ... Ulbrich said the team is still evaluating LT Tyron Smith, who missed the game against Indianapolis with a neck ailment. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/nfl

The New York Jets will have another formidable matchup against a division leader when they host the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday coming out of their bye week. Aside from their offensive line, the Jets' offense has stayed relatively healthy this season, especially when it comes to their starting weapons. However, they could be missing of the of their few bright spots on Sunday. © Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports Running back Breece Hall, who has averaged five yards-per-carry the last four weeks, missed practice on Wednesday with a knee injury. His status for Sunday is currently uncertain. If Hall, who leads the team with 1,033 scrimmage yards, isn't able to play on Sunday, the Jets will likely turn to rookie Braelon Allen to be the "emergency'' plan to carry the team's run game. Allen, who is the youngest active player in the NFL at 20-years-old, has shown flashes of potential throughout his rookie year as both a running and receiving threat. Related: Should Jets Let Aaron Rodgers Decide Future with Team? He's currently second on the team in rushing behind Hall with 229 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. Aside from Hall, he is the only other player on the roster that has a rushing touchdown this season. In Week 2 against the Tennessee Titans, Allen brought in both a rushing and a receiving touchdown. He was then named the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week for his performance in one of the Jets' few wins this season. While New York's playoff chances are extremely slim this late in the season, it would still be nice for Allen to have a great performance with the team beginning to look towards their future. THE CANADIAN PRESS/Paige Taylor White TORONTO — Canada's main stock index gained more than 350 points Thursday in a broad rally led by energy and technology stocks, while U.S. markets also rose, led by a one-per-cent gain on the Dow. The S&P/TSX composite index closed up 354.22 points at 25,390.68. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 461.88 points at 43,870.35. The S&P 500 index was up 31.60 points at 5,948.71, while the Nasdaq composite was up 6.28 points at 18,972.42. The Nasdaq lagged an otherwise decent day for Wall St., rising just 0.03 per cent as it was dragged down by Google parent Alphabet and some of its tech giant peers. The tech company’s stock fell 4.6 per cent after U.S. regulators asked a judge to break it up by forcing a sale of the Chrome web browser. Amazon shares traded down 2.2 per cent while Meta and Apple both moved lower as well. After a substantial run for major tech stocks this year, that kind of news “shakes people a bit,” said John Zechner, chairman and lead equity manager at J. Zechner Associates. Meanwhile, semiconductor giant Nvidia saw its stock tick up modestly by 0.5 per cent after it reported earnings Wednesday evening. The company yet again beat expectations for profit and revenue, and gave a better revenue forecast for the current quarter than expected. But expectations for Nvidia have been so high amid the optimism over artificial intelligence that even beating forecasts wasn’t enough to send its stock flying the way it has in previous quarters, said Zechner. Nvidia essentially caps earnings season in the U.S., with companies largely beating expectations, said Zechner — though those expectations weren’t exactly lofty for companies outside the tech and AI sphere, he added. The Dow led major U.S. markets as the post-election hopes for economic growth continued to fuel a broadening of market strength, said Zechner. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to U.S. president-elect Donald Trump, said Zechner, and there’s no guarantee he will do what he’s promised. “There’s a lot of unknowns, but for now the markets seem to be assuming that whatever comes of this, the U.S. will continue to lead global growth,” he said. However, some of Trump’s promises — chief among them widespread tariffs on imports — have sparked bets that inflation may rear its head again. The market has pared back its expectations for interest rate cuts as a result, said Zechner. “Nobody’s talking about a half-point cut, that’s for sure,” he said. Los Angeles: Singer-songwriter Shakira has made a commitment, and won’t lie about it. The singer recently announced that she would be giving away her customised purple car. The car, a Lamborghini Urus, holds deep significance for the singer, reports ‘People’ magazine. The singer is giving away her sporty ride to a fan in celebration of her latest single ‘Soltera’ (Spanish for single). The contest, which is in partnership with Univision, is also a gesture of gratitude from the Colombian star, 47, after the overwhelming love and support she’s received. Shakira said in a press release, “This car was a gift to myself as I began my single life, but I realised that what truly matters is human connection”. As per ‘People’, she referred to her split from ex Gerard Pique. The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer added, “The car, the clothes, the material things — they don’t transform us. It’s the people we love and the connections we build that truly make a difference”. To enter the contest, fans will need to upload a dance to ‘Soltera’ on Instagram and TikTok with the hashtag #ElCarroDeShakira by November 29. Shakira will then select five finalists and the public will vote for the winner on December 5. The winner will be announced on December 6 on Despierta America. To enter, the fan must be at least 18 years of age. Shakira released ‘Soltera’ in September this year, and the track has already climbed to the Global Top 50 on Spotify. Meanwhile, her album ‘Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran’ (Women Don’t Cry Anymore) recently earned a Grammy nomination for best latin pop album. In October, the singer-songwriter, who is kicking off her world tour in May 2025, reflected on the impact her seventh studio album had on her healing journey in a cover story interview with GQ Spain. She said, “For many months after my separation I had been silent, trying to begin my mourning, but I couldn’t really begin to grieve until I started writing music”.One of the key objectives of the initiative is to enhance the region's computing power by investing in infrastructure, talent development, and research and development.
