It’s been a day fuelled by weather-related postponements and delays throughout Scottish football. And in the final Scottish Premiership fixture of the weekend, Celtic were 3-1 up against Heart of Midlothian at Tynecastle with a matter of minutes remaining when the game had to be halted because of a bizarre incident. Assistant referee appeared to sustain a thigh injury whilst running the line which resulted in the fourth official taking over the duties late on. “What is going on here, is the fourth official having a massage?,” quipped Chris Sutton on Sky Sports commentary as he attempted to figure out what was happening. “That’s Mickey Mouse, dearie me!” The match ended up at a standstill for four minutes until the replacement, Stevie Kirkland, prepared themselves. Celtic went on to score another with substitute Adam Idah converting from the penalty spot to secure maximum points and go three ahead of Aberdeen in the league table.Meta said it is “99% of the way there” in solving an ongoing social media blackout with its apps. Brandon Durham called 911 early Nov. 12, saying he was hiding with his 15-year-old daughter after someone broke into his home, Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren said. Durham is heard pleading with the dispatcher to “send someone ASAP” in audio recordings obtained this week by KVVU-TV in Las Vegas . Koren identified the officer who shot Durham as Alexander Bookman, 26. Bookman was one of the first officers to arrive and kicked in the front door. Koren said the officer found Durham in a hallway struggling over a knife with the intruder. In a short clip of body camera video released by police, the officer yells for them to drop the knife, then fires one round. Durham and the intruder both fall to the floor, then the officer moves closer and fires five more rounds while standing over them, the video shows. Durham, 43, died in his home. Koren said Durham and the intruder knew each other. The intruder was arrested and charged with home invasion and assault. David Roger, general counsel for the union representing Las Vegas police officers, said Saturday in a statement that Bookman was not at fault. “While Mr. Durham’s death is tragic, Officer Bookman was doing his job and did not intend to commit a crime. The person responsible for Mr. Durham’s death is in custody,” he said. Durham’s family wants Bookman fired and charged in the shooting. “Mr. Durham was not threatening anyone. There’s no justification for the use of force against Mr. Durham,” Lee Merritt, a civil rights attorney representing the family, said at a news conference, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported . Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said in a statement that it was too early in the investigation for him to comment on possible charges. Bookman is on paid leave while the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigates. Despite BNP leader and Mayor Shahadat Hossain's pledge to free Chattogram from posters and banners, the publicity materials of his party have engulfed the port city. Even some of these are to greet the new mayor. Two of the three banners seen at an unauthorised ambulance stand near the east gate of Chattogram Medical College Hospital on Saturday were to greet Shahadat while the other was for BNP Chattogram City Unit's new Convener Ershad Ullah. Chattogram Ambulance Owners Cooperatives Limited, CMCH Ambulance Owners, and leaders of BNP Chawkbazar Ward Unit put up the banners. Another banner greeting the new mayor was put up by Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal of Chawkbazar Thana and ward units at a passenger shed adjacent to the ambulance stand. Two similar banners were seen on the road just five metres from the passenger shed. Residents said such publicity materials are an eyesore and these ruin the city's beauty. "Banners and posters greeting the new mayor and leaders of BNP's city unit have engulfed the city," said Rashed Iqbal, a resident at KB Fazlul Quader Road area. "We had seen posters and banners greeting Awami League ministers, MPs and leaders in the past. And now we're seeing the same practice by the BNP," he added. After taking charge on November 5, Shahadat pledged to build a clean, green, and healthy city. He accordingly declared to free the city from banners and posters. The mayor started the work by removing banners in and around the CCC compound. On November 20, when Shahadat was leaving his office, he saw a banner greeting him on the wall of the CCC building. He instantly took down the banner. "I told you: none of you will put up banners and posters. I thank you for electing me mayor. I respect your emotions, as you love me. I don't know how I can repay you for this love of yours. But please remove the banners and posters that you have put up," he told the people there. "I have instructed the conservation officer to remove all posters and banners. But in the meantime, I have visited several places and seen that there are still banners and posters." "I want the city to be free from these," he added. Contacted, Latiful Haque Kazmi, chief conservancy officer of CCC, said they were removing banners and posters every day, but new materials are hung again. "Our drives will continue," he said.AP Trending SummaryBrief at 4:13 p.m. EST
Both Oklahoma and Providence are hoping they'll have key pieces back in place when the two undefeated teams square off in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis on Wednesday in Paradise Island, Bahamas. The Friars (5-0) are expected to have Bryce Hopkins available, according to a report from Field of 68. Hopkins was averaging 15.5 points and 8.6 rebounds last season before suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament Jan. 3. He returned to full-go practices last week, and Tuesday, Providence coach Kim English said Hopkins would be a "game-time decision" against the Sooners. "It's been a process," English said. "We're not rushing it." But English praised Hopkins' progress since the Friars' last game, Nov. 19, when Hopkins went through pregame warmups. "I thought he looked better than I remembered," English said. "He's been in our system for the past year. His patience, his understanding, his versatility on offense and defense ... it's been great to see him in practice." The Sooners (4-0) are hopeful that they'll get Brycen Goodine back. Goodine played for the Friars for two seasons from 2020-22 before transferring to Fairfield for two seasons and then to Oklahoma this offseason. Goodine suffered an ankle injury in the Sooners' opener Nov. 4 and has not played since. "He's a really tough kid and trying to push through it," Oklahoma coach Porter Moser said. "It will truly be one of those game-time decisions. He hasn't gone a full practice yet, just been pieces of practices." Playing with Goodine and Jadon Jones, expected to be two of the Sooners' top outside shooters, Moser said he's learned plenty about his team's offense. "When you're down those shooters, it's really a great weapon to know that a lot of other guys can knock down the open shot," Moser said. "It's been a huge takeaway." The Sooners have been led by Jalon Moore, who is averaging 18.8 points per game, and freshman Jeremiah Fears, who is averaging 15.5. Providence has been led by senior guard Bensley Joseph, who is averaging 11.8 points and 4.0 assists per game. Oklahoma has not played a game closer than 16 points yet this season, with an average margin of victory of 24 points. Providence has won its five games by an average of nearly 17 points per game. The teams will square off against either Davidson or No. 24 Arizona in the second round Thursday, with the winners playing each other in one semifinal while the losers play in a consolation semifinal. --Field Level MediaScience and Technology Daily: Promoting AI Governance Jointly
