NoneAccording to the latest labour force numbers released by Statistics Canada, Saskatchewan’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remains well below the national average. For the month of November, the provincial rate was 5.6 per cent, which compared to the national average of 6.8 per cent. The province also added 8,400 new jobs year-over-year. “Saskatchewan’s economy remains strong, with 8,400 jobs added and the lowest unemployment rate in Canada,” Deputy Premier and Immigration and Career Training Minister Jim Reiter said in a news release. “Opportunities provided by our growing economy and measures passed to ensure the province remains the most affordable place to live, work and raise a family in Canada.” Year-over-year, full-time employment increased by 5,900, an increase of 1.2 per cent. Female employment is up 4,600 an increase of 1.7 per cent, and male employment is up 3,700, an increase of 1.2 per cent. Major year-over-year gains were reported for health care and social assistance, up 11,700, an increase of 13.5 per cent; accommodation and food services, up 4,100, an increase of 13.6 per cent; and forestry, fishing, mining, oil and gas, up 2,800, an increase of 14.1 per cent. The provincial NDP however pointing out Prince Albert and the Northern economic area of Saskatchewan lost 800 jobs in November. Overall, there are 400 fewer jobs in the region since Scott Moe became Premier in February 2018, the opposition stated in a press release. “The Sask. Party Government has left us in last place on full time job creation,” said Kim Breckner, Saskatchewan NDP Shadow Minister for Trade & Export Development. “We need good-paying jobs for people in Prince Albert, in the North and right across Saskatchewan. “We need an economic plan for the future, especially during a period of great uncertainty with the potential of tariffs threatened by the incoming U.S. President and the ongoing affordability crisis.” Saskatchewan NDP Leader Carla Beck has advocated for prioritizing Saskatchewan jobs and workers, lower taxes for small businesses, retrofit programs for aging buildings and increased policing to keep communities safe. “We want to invest in local economic development to create a domino effect across the region,” Breckner said. “We will continue to propose ideas to get Saskatchewan’s economy out of last place.” panews@pattisonmedia.com On X: @princealbertnowIn conclusion, Rio Ferdinand's comments about Manchester United needing to be more ruthless towards underperforming players have sparked an important debate about the club's values and standards. As a former player who experienced success at the highest level, Ferdinand's words carry weight and should be taken seriously. If Manchester United wants to return to the top of English football, it may need to adopt a tougher approach towards those who are not pulling their weight. Only time will tell if the club will heed Ferdinand's advice and make the necessary changes to improve its performance on the pitch.y888

Moreover, the decision to transfer power to the opposition underscores a growing recognition of the need for inclusivity and diversity in the governance of Syria. By involving representatives from various factions and segments of society in the power transition process, the goal is to build a government that is truly representative of the Syrian population and capable of addressing the diverse needs and concerns of its citizens. This inclusivity is essential for fostering reconciliation, rebuilding trust, and laying the foundation for a more peaceful and prosperous future for Syria.

CARSON, Calif. — The LA Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls have been Major League Soccer mainstays since the league's inaugural season in 1996, signing glamorous players and regularly competing for championships through years of success and setbacks in a league that's perpetually improving and expanding. Yet just a year ago, both of these clubs appeared to be a very long way from the stage they'll share Saturday in the MLS Cup Final. The Galaxy were one of MLS' worst teams after a season of internal turmoil and public fan dissent, while the Red Bulls were merely a steady mediocrity seeking yet another coach to chart a new direction. A year later, these MLS founders are meeting in the league's first Cup final between teams from North America's two biggest markets. "Two original clubs being able to put themselves in this situation, I think it's great," Galaxy coach Greg Vanney said. "To see two clubs that have been at it as long as this league has been around be here, I think it's a special moment. Couldn't be two more different and contrasting styles as well, which could make for an interesting game, and I would imagine a high-intensity game." Everything changed in 2024 after a dismal decade for the Galaxy, who are favored to cap their transformation by winning their team's record sixth MLS championship with a roster that's dramatically different from its past few groups — albeit with one massive injury absence in the final. The transformation of the Red Bulls happened only in the postseason, when a team that hadn't won a playoff game since 2017 suddenly turned into world-beaters under rookie coach Sandro Schwarz. New York struggled through the final three months of league play with only two wins before posting road playoff victories over defending champ Columbus, archrival New York City FC and conference finalist Orlando to storm into the Cup final. "We know about the history (of our club), and we know tomorrow will define what that could mean," Schwarz said Friday. "To feel the pressure for tomorrow, it's necessary, because it's a final, and without pressure it's not possible to bring the best quality on the field." The Red Bulls have never won an MLS Cup, only reaching the championship match once before. What's more, they've somehow never won a Cup in any tournament, although they've collected three Supporters' Shields for MLS' best regular-season record. The Galaxy's trophy case is large and loaded, and those five MLS Cups are on the top shelf. But not much of that team success happened in the past decade for the club that famously brought David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Robbie Keane, Steven Gerrard and many other international stars to Hollywood. In fact, this season has ended a grim era for the Galaxy, who haven't lost all year at their frequently renamed home stadium — which was the site of protests and boycotts just a year ago. The club's fans were tired of LA's steady underachievement and ineptitude in the front office run by team president Chris Klein, who was fired in May 2023. One year ago Thursday, the Galaxy hired Will Kuntz, a longtime Los Angeles FC executive who engineered his new club's roster transformation, most dramatically by landing new designated players Gabriel Pec and Joseph Paintsil — two international talents that LAFC also had in its sights. "I give Will and the group up there a ton of credit," Vanney said. "It's one thing to have players you like, and it's a whole other thing to get them here and get them to connect with your group." Pec and Paintsil combined for 32 goals and 27 assists while boosting the incumbent talents of striker Dejan Joveljic and Riqui Puig, the gifted Barcelona product who runs the offense from the midfield. The Galaxy clicked in the postseason, scoring a jaw-dropping 16 goals in four matches. Puig has been the Galaxy's most important player all season, but he won't be in the MLS Cup Final after tearing a knee ligament late in last week's conference final victory over Seattle. The loss of Puig — who somehow kept playing on his injured knee, and even delivered the game-winning pass to Joveljic — makes the Galaxy even more difficult to anticipate. "He played a lot in the regular season, so it was not so easy to analyze all these games now without him," Schwarz said. "But the main focus is to analyze what we need to do, because it's not clear now how they're playing without him." The Galaxy could give some of Puig's responsibilities to Marco Reus, the longtime Dortmund standout who joined LA in August. Reus is nursing a hamstring injury, but Vanney expects him to play. Mr Trump made the announcement in a Truth Social post, calling Charles Kushner “a tremendous business leader, philanthropist, & dealmaker”. Mr Kushner is the founder of Kushner Companies, a real estate firm. Jared Kushner is a former senior Trump adviser who is married to Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka. The elder Mr Kushner was pardoned by Trump in December 2020 after pleading guilty years earlier to tax evasion and making illegal campaign donations. Prosecutors alleged that after Charles Kushner discovered his brother-in-law was co-operating with federal authorities in an investigation, he hatched a scheme for revenge and intimidation. Mr Kushner hired a prostitute to lure his brother-in-law, then arranged to have the encounter in a New Jersey motel room recorded with a hidden camera and the recording sent to his own sister, the man’s wife, prosecutors said. Mr Kushner eventually pleaded guilty to 18 counts including tax evasion and witness tampering. He was sentenced in 2005 to two years in prison – the most he could receive under a plea deal, but less than what Chris Christie, the US attorney for New Jersey at the time and later governor and Republican presidential candidate, had sought. Mr Christie has blamed Jared Kushner for his firing from Mr Trump’s transition team in 2016, and has called Charles Kushner’s offences “one of the most loathsome, disgusting crimes that I prosecuted when I was US attorney”. Mr Trump and the elder Mr Kushner knew each other from real estate circles and their children were married in 2009.In response to the Eagle-Eye challenge, Wang Chuqin has proposed a different approach to enhancing officiating in table tennis matches. He suggests implementing stricter guidelines for umpires and referees, as well as providing additional training to ensure consistent and fair calls. "I believe that by investing in the development of human officiating skills, we can maintain the integrity of the sport while also addressing concerns about accuracy and fairness," Wang Chuqin stated.

Subsidies, tax incentives, and other financial support measures have been introduced to encourage investment in infrastructure and housing projects. These initiatives have not only created job opportunities and boosted economic growth but have also contributed to the expansion of the real estate market.

Cooperation between China and the EU has been evident in various areas, including trade, investment, and climate change. The former Spanish Foreign Minister acknowledged the progress made in recent years in deepening economic ties and working together to achieve common goals. The successful conclusion of the Comprehensive Agreement on Investment (CAI) was cited as a positive example of how China and the EU can come together to create opportunities for mutual benefit.

Sea Limited ( SE -2.83% ) is based in Singapore, and it serves the Southeast Asian market across three business segments: e-commerce, digital entertainment (gaming), and digital financial services. Its stock is up by a whopping 195% in 2024 so far, thanks to improving economic conditions and the company's accelerating revenue growth. It's still down 68% from its all-time high which was set during the tech frenzy in 2021, so I think this recovery is in the very early stages. Here's why Sea Limited stock could double (or more) again in 2025. A three-headed powerhouse in the digital economy E-commerce is Sea Limited's largest source of revenue. It's headlined by the company's hybrid consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer Shopee platform, which processed more than 2.8 billion orders during the third quarter of 2024 (ended Sept. 30). Sea is trying to improve the efficiency of Shopee's logistics network to save money and offer customers a better shopping experience. It's having success because, during Q3, the company said half of all orders across Asia were delivered in two days or less while the cost per order continued to come down. E-commerce giant Amazon discovered that customers order more frequently when they receive products quickly, which is good news for Shopee over the long term. Shopee also has powerful synergies with SeaMoney, which is the main brand in Sea's digital financial services segment. It provides buy now, pay later loans to consumers on Shopee, and it also lends money to sellers on the platform to help them grow. SeaMoney ended Q3 with a record $4.6 billion in loans outstanding, which was up by a whopping 73% from the year-ago period. It added 4 million first-time borrowers during the quarter, taking its total active users to 24 million. The third and final segment in Sea's business is digital entertainment, which is led by the Garena mobile game development studio. It's home to Free Fire , which continued to be the most downloaded mobile game in the world during Q3 and averaged over 100 million daily active users. Sea's digital entertainment segment overall served 628.5 million users during the quarter, which was up 15% from the year-ago period. Unfortunately, gaming has been a drag on Sea's business since pandemic-era social restrictions ended, because people are now spending less time online. The segment's quarterly active users peaked at 729 million in 2021, so it hasn't generated any growth in the three years since then. Monetization has also suffered, with the number of paying users shrinking by 46% from the pandemic-era peak. The good news is those metrics have stabilized over the past year (despite being down from 2021 levels), so investors will be looking for a return to consistent growth. Accelerating revenue growth Sea Limited generated $4.3 billion in revenue during the third quarter of 2024, which was an increase of 30.8% compared to the year-ago period. It was its fastest growth rate in two-and-a-half years, and it also represented the third consecutive quarter of acceleration. Most of Sea's Q3 revenue came from the e-commerce segment, where revenue soared 42.6% year over year to $3.2 billion. The digital financial services business also delivered a strong result, with revenue soaring 38% to $615.7 million. Digital entertainment remained a drag on the company's overall results, with its revenue shrinking 16% to $497.8 million. Sea's overall top-line growth was impressive because the company's operating expenses only increased by 5.7% compared to the year-ago period, and its marketing costs shrank by 4.3%. In other words, Sea wasn't spending aggressively to generate sales growth; it actually experienced strong organic demand instead. The rapid revenue growth combined with only a modest increase in costs allowed more money to flow to the bottom line as profit. As a result, Sea generated net income of $153.3 million, which was a positive swing from the $143.9 million net loss it delivered in the same quarter last year. Sea is carefully balancing revenue growth and profitability in order to build a more sustainable business for the long term. It's a major shift compared to 2020 and 2021, when the company used a growth-at-all-costs strategy, even if it led to blowout losses on the bottom line. Sea Limited stock could double again in 2025 As I mentioned at the top, Sea stock is down 68% from its all-time high in 2021. Its price-to-sales (P/S) ratio soared above 30 back then, which was undeniably expensive. However, the combination of a falling stock price and solid revenue growth since then have pushed that P/S ratio down to just 4.4 as of this writing. That's actually a 53% discount to Sea's average P/S ratio of 9.5 since the company went public in 2017: SE PS Ratio data by YCharts Sea stock will have to more than double from here in order for its P/S ratio to trade in line with that average of 9.5. Investors typically pay higher valuations for companies that are growing quickly, so if Sea's revenue growth continues to accelerate, I think it could get there in 2025. Here's the kicker: Sea has a whopping $9.9 billion in cash and equivalents on its balance sheet with practically no debt. That gives the company incredible flexibility when it comes to ramping up spending in areas like marketing and research and development , which could contribute to a further acceleration in revenue growth. Plus, now that Sea has proven it can be profitable over the last couple of years, it can spend more aggressively without depleting its cash balance. As a result, there is a clear pathway for this stock to double again next year, so now might be a great time to buy.

The Lions had beaten Cornell 17-9 but needed a Harvard loss against Yale to secure a share of first place on the season’s final day. So Columbia players retreated to their locker room on a hill a few hundred feet from Wien Stadium to watch the game in Boston on TV as a few hundred fans remained and gazed at the gold-and-orange foliage of Inwood Hill Park glowing in Saturday’s afternoon sun. When Yale recovered onside kick with seconds left to ensure a 34-29 Harvard defeat, players let out a scream and streamed back onto the field to celebrate, smoke cigars, lift a trophy and sing “Roar, Lion, Roar” with family and friends. Who would have thunk it? “You had the realization of, oh, I’m a champion, which is something that hasn’t been said here in a while,” co-captain CJ Brown said. Harvard dropped into a tie with Columbia and Dartmouth at 5-2, the first time three teams shared the title since 1982 — the conference doesn’t use tiebreakers. “It was nerve-wracking, for sure, but definitely exciting because that’s something that not a lot of people have experienced, especially here,” running back Joey Giorgi said. There have been several top players at Columbia — Sid Luckman, Marty Domres, Marcellus Wiley among them — but the school is perhaps better known for owners such as the New England Patriots’ Robert Kraft and former Cleveland Browns head Al Lerner. Columbia’s only previous championship in 1961 also was shared with Harvard. That Lions team was coached by Buff Donelli, a former Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Rams coach who scored for the Americans in soccer’s 1934 World Cup. Columbia set a then Division I-AA record with 44 consecutive losses from 1983-88, a mark broken by Prairie View’s 80 in a row from 1989-98. Since 1971, the Lions’ only seasons with winning records until now were 1994, 1996, 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022. Al Bagnoli, who won nine Ivy titles in 23 years at Penn, couldn’t manage one at Columbia from 2015-22. He quit six weeks before the 2023 opener, citing health, and was replaced on an interim basis by Mark Fabish, his offensive coordinator. Jon Poppe, now 39, was hired last December after working as a Bagnoli assistant at Columbia from 2015-17 between stints at Harvard from 2011-14 and 2017-22, plus one season as a head coach at Division III Union College. He led the Lions to a 7-3 record overall, their most wins in a coach’s first season since George F. Sanford’s team went 9-3 in 1899. Poppe had wife Anna and 7-year-old daughter with him in the locker room watching the countdown to the title. “Sixty-three years of whatever into now,” he said. “Just seeing a lot of that history myself, personally. This is a hugely — a feeling of elation, seeing my dad on the field, a lot of emotional things with that.” Before a crowd of 4,224, quarterback Caleb Sanchez’s 1-yard touchdown run put Columbia ahead in the second quarter. Giorgi’s 1-yard TD run opened a 14-3 lead in the third and Hugo Merry added a 25-yard field goal in the fourth, overcoming three field goals by Alan Zhao. Giorgi rushed for 165 yards and finished his career with 2,112, second in school history. He and Brown missed what would have been their freshman season in 2020 because of the coronavirus pandemic. Given Columbia’s athletic history — the most successful sport is fencing — it is not an obvious football destination. “I saw the dedication, whether it resulted in wins or losses,” Brown said. “I saw their dedication to the product that they put out on the field and also the athletic department, the facilities that we had here, the busses on schedule and stuff, I was like, OK, they care about their athletes. People here want to win and it doesn’t matter what’s happened in the past, it matters what we’re going to do now.” Poppe cited a mindset. “You get 10 opportunities, unlike other sports, it is a grind to play this sport and prepare the way we do just for 10,” he said. As the final whistle sounded in Boston, Brown noted an unusual initial reaction in the locker room. “It was like kind of awe when they recovered the kick,” he said. “It was a lot quieter than you would think it would be, but you could feel the joy and the elation.” Winnipeg Jets Game Days On Winnipeg Jets game days, hockey writers Mike McIntyre and Ken Wiebe send news, notes and quotes from the morning skate, as well as injury updates and lineup decisions. Arnold was downgraded Saturday from questionable to out because of a groin injury. He was limited at practice on Thursday and participated in a full practice on Friday. The Lions drafted Arnold with the 24th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft out of Alabama. Arnold, 21, has started all 10 games and has 38 tackles and six passes defended. Rakestraw (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve after not practicing all week. He already had been ruled out for Sunday's game. Detroit picked Rakestraw in the second round (61st overall) out of Missouri. He has played in eight games and has six tackles. Rakestraw, 22, has played on 46 defensive snaps (8 percent) and 95 special teams snaps (42 percent). Moseley had full practice sessions all week and was activated from injured reserve on Saturday but was listed as questionable for Sunday. The 28-year-old is in his second season with Detroit and appeared in one game last season before going on IR in October 2023. He was placed on IR on Aug. 27 with a designation to return. Moseley played from 2018-22 for the San Francisco 49ers and had 162 tackles, four interceptions -- one returned for a touchdown -- and 33 passes defensed in 46 games (33 starts). Detroit elevated linebacker David Long on Saturday for game day. Long, 28, signed with the practice squad on Tuesday after the Miami Dolphins released him on Nov. 13. He had started six of eight games for the Dolphins this season and had 38 tackles. In other Lions news, the NFL fined wide receiver Jameson Williams $19,697 for unsportsmanlike conduct for making an obscene gesture during a touchdown celebration in last Sunday's 52-6 home win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, the NFL Network reported Saturday. Williams, 23, scored on a 65-yard pass from Jared Goff with 12:55 remaining in the third quarter. --Field Level Media

Authorities in Colombia on Thursday refuted claims made by the United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances (CED), which stated that 20,000 unidentified bodies allegedly remain stored at a hangar in Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport. A U.N. CED delegation conducted a two-week visit to Colombia in late November to study the country’s decades-old, forced disappearance crisis. According to a U.N. press release, the group met with dozens of local government authorities, civil society organizations, and victims. “Although enforced disappearances started in Colombia around the 1940s, they are not just a crime of the past. They continue to occur daily across the country in diverse circumstances,” the group said. The delegation asserted that there are discrepancies between institutional records on the number of forced disappearance victims, with reported figures received by the group ranging from 98,000 to 200,000. The reported discrepancies, CED stated, “make it impossible to determine the true extent.” At the end of the visit, the U.N. group issued a press conference on Thursday in which its members shared some of its preliminary findings and stressed that enforced disappearances “are not a crime of the past” in Colombia. The group added that the existing material and human resources of the Colombian state “are not sufficient to meet the demand.” “Enforced disappearances are not a crime of the past. During these two weeks, the people we interviewed conveyed the image of a society overwhelmed by the phenomenon of disappearances, which continue to occur daily throughout the national territory,” Juan Pablo Albán, one of the members of the U.N. delegation, said . The U.N. group claimed that, in addition to its other findings, thousands of unidentified bodies “lie in poorly managed cemeteries or storage facilities, such as a hangar at Bogotá airport where around 20,000 unidentified bodies are currently stored.” CED’s full report is slated to be released in April 2025. Colombian authorities immediately rejected CED’s claims. The Legal Medicine Institute released a brief statement moments later in which the institution claimed to be “unaware of the existence of such a hangar and has not received requests from any authority for the study and analysis of such cases.” The Colombian Attorney General’s Office responded by immediately launching an inspection of Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport. According to the Attorney General’s Office, no such bodies were found in any of the airport’s hangars by local officials throughout the inspection. “After visiting the 27 hangars, we were able to verify that they are dedicated to airport activities such as private passenger boarding, aircraft repair, and storage of equipment for ground operations,” Tito Perilla, advisor to the Colombian Human Rights Ombudsman’s Office told reporters. Other Colombian authorities refuted the U.N. group’s claims in the morning hours of Friday. Mayor of Bogotá Carlos Fernando Galán described the allegations as “very grave” in remarks given to reporters. Galán stated that his office has no information on the U.N. report’s claims over the alleged 20,000 bodies in the airport hangar and stressed that the international organization must clarify its assertions and offer more evidence. “I think it is very important that the United Nations, in this case the mission that came to Colombia, provide the support to be able to make that statement because there is nothing, no indication, no element that the local authority, the Attorney General’s Office, the Medical Examiner’s Office, the Police or the airport have, that indicates to us that this information has any kind of support,” Galán said. Colombian Interior Minister Juan Fernando Cristo issued a message on social media in which he thanked the United Nations for its work in Colombia, which he described as “fundamental in the construction of peace,” but called for the institution to clarify its assertions. “This is a very serious and unverified statement in the face of which public opinion deserves transparency,” Cristo said. The Colombian radio station La FM reported on Friday morning that it received an email from U.N. media officer Vivian Kwok stating that the CED delegation’s members are not U.N. personnel. “Please note that the Committee on Enforced Disappearances is a monitoring body made up of independent human rights experts from around the world. They are not UN officials,” the email reportedly read. Christian K. Caruzo is a Venezuelan writer and documents life under socialism. The consequences of promoting harmful behaviors and attitudes are severe, and the repercussions can be swift and unforgiving. It is time for all individuals, especially those in positions of influence, to stand up against toxic ideologies and strive towards a more inclusive and respectful society.
