The Washington Commanders lost a stunning 34-26 game to the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, and there were a lot of culprits for it. None were more to blame than the team's special teams unit, and the fourth quarter was a clown car full of mishaps that spilled out all over the field. It resulted in allowing a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, a missed game-tying extra point and another kickoff returned for a touchdown on an onside kick. That does not even get into the fact that Washington kicker Austin Seibert also missed a field goal and another extra point earlier in the game. But for now, let's just focus on the fourth-quarter mishaps because that was where the game went wild. After Washington scored a touchdown with three minutes to play in the fourth quarter to make it a three-point game, the Commanders allowed KaVontae Turpin to return the ensuing kickoff 99 yards for a stunning touchdown. That was when Jayden Daniels connected with Terry McLaurin for an improbable 86-yard touchdown that brought them to within an extra point of tying the game. NO GOOD. : #DALvsWAS on FOX : https://t.co/waVpO8ZBqG pic.twitter.com/FDg7wGy8KF That put Washington into a position where it needed an onside kick to position itself to win the game. It resulted in another return touchdown for Dallas. ONSIDE KICK RETURN FOR A TD WHY NOT?! : #DALvsWAS on FOX : https://t.co/waVpO909ge pic.twitter.com/DIXs64vWvP It is truly difficult to put into words how bad of a day that is for Washington's special teams. The result is a third consecutive loss that drops the team to 7-5 and might put the NFC East out of reach behind the Philadelphia Eagles.Holiday decorations are shown in front of the New York Stock Exchange in New York’s Financial District on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2024. (AP Photo/Peter Morgan) New York, United States — Global stocks mostly rose Tuesday, with US and German indices posting records, as markets weighed Chinese stimulus hopes, political tensions in France and the US interest-rate outlook. Germany’s blue-chip DAX stock index jumped above 20,000 points for the first time and Paris rebounded even as France braced for new political turmoil. In New York, both the S&P 500 and Nasdaq narrowly rose to finish at records, while the Dow pulled back. Oil prices jumped more than two percent following reports that crude exporters were near an agreement to extend production limits. READ: PSEi turns red as gov’t economic team cuts growth goal A closely-watched labor market report showed an increase in US job openings in October, but also a decline in new job postings during the month, a less upbeat sign. Samuel Tombs, chief US economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said the data overall provides “good grounds” for the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates again this month. Still, the choppiness of Tuesday’s trading session in New York points to reticence among US investors following a series of post-election records that many pundits believe have left stocks overvalued. “There wasn’t a lot of conviction behind the upside moves,” said Briefing.com. “The overall vibe in the market was more negative.” Stocks in Paris edged higher even as France headed into a new political crisis as opposition lawmakers vowed to topple the minority government of Prime Minister Michel Barnier in a no-confidence vote after just three months in office. Germany’s DAX, meanwhile, scored a fresh milestone, defying multiple headwinds battering Europe’s biggest economy. The German economy, hit hard by a manufacturing slowdown and weak demand for its exports, has struggled in 2024. Yet the DAX has advanced in large part because companies in the index do heavy business abroad. In addition, the euro’s recent weakness has boosted Germany’s export-oriented companies, while easing interest rates both in the eurozone and the United States have also helped sentiment. Investors greeted a Bloomberg report that China’s top leaders, including President Xi Jinping, would hold a two-day economic work conference next week to outline their targets and stimulus plans for next year. The report followed manufacturing activity data on Monday that suggested China’s economic struggles may be coming to an end, but investors are looking for Beijing to step up support for the economy. The news helped push Hong Kong and Shanghai stock markets higher despite Washington announcing new export restrictions taking aim at Beijing’s ability to make advanced semiconductors. The moves step up existing US efforts to tighten curbs on exports of state-of-the-art AI chips to China. Beijing hit back by saying it would restrict exports to the United States of some key components in making semiconductors. Oil prices jumped ahead of a meeting Thursday of members of the OPEC oil cartel and its allies “The forecast is that they will announce an extension until the end of the first quarter of 2025, and this should help put a floor under prices,” said Trade Nation analyst David Morrison. Glenn van Gulik, the divisional secretary for public relations with charity, tells CTV News Ottawa they haven’t been able to receive mail-in donations or send out their donation appeals since Nov. 15, when the strike began. “That's preventing individuals from receiving the direct mail that they're so used to at this time of the year,” he said. “Also it's preventing individuals from actually sending their mail back to us with that cheque. This strike couldn't have come at a worse time for The Salvation Army.” November and December account for roughly 65 per cent of the organization’s fundraising every year, when the spirit of giving is in the air. “The strike is having a dramatic impact, preventing all those funds from coming in to support the work at The Salvation Army,” van Gulik continued. The lack of mail-in donations has put more importance on The Salvation Army’s other methods of fundraising, like their signature kettles, set up in malls and grocery stores over the holidays. Brockville, Ont. resident John Agnew has been volunteering with the charity for 10 years. “I love doing it. And I love meeting people,” he said. “It's great to have donations for people that are less fortunate than ourselves.” Donations are also accepted at Salvationarmy.ca or over the phone at 1-800-SAL-ARMY. SHOPPERS are racing to get hold of the best deal on a litre bottle of Baileys as they stock up for Christmas. With just over a month to go until the big day, we wanted to let you know the cheapest place this week to buy a litre of the liqueur. 1 Baileys is on offer at two supermarkets Credit: Alamy Baileys has always been pretty pricey, usually being sold at around £20 for a litre of its original Irish Cream flavour. Supermarkets like Aldi and Asda have their own versions available for those looking for a dupe. But if it's the real thing you're after, you should always check where you can get the most for your money. As always, remember to check elsewhere in case we missed a cheaper price - there's never a bad time to catch a bargain. The Latest Deals app also lets you search items and helps you compare prices at several supermarkets to see where it's cheaper. When it comes to Baileys , it is always worth noting that the closer to Christmas we get the more likely it is that even better deals will crop up. The deal is available to those with a Nectar Card, which slashes the usual price of £21.95 down by more than half. You can sign up for the scheme for free online or in store. Nectar customers can add the card to their Sainsbury's Groceries account when they check out to access all sorts of discounts. For those shopping in person, all you need to do is scan the Nectar card or app on your phone to bag the bargain. What is loyalty pricing? You may have heard of loyalty pricing, but do you know what it is? Sainsbury's, Tesco and Morrisons are three supermarkets that offer customers signed up to their loyalty schemes exclusive discounts - known as loyalty pricing. All three retailer's schemes, Nectar Card, Clubcard and More Card, are free to sign up to as well. The obvious advantage to loyalty pricing is that you can save potentially hundreds of pounds a year on your shopping, all without spending a penny. But different supermarkets offer exclusive discounts on different products, so do some research before doing your shopping. Either way, be wary of supermarkets artificially inflating prices to make it seem like you're getting a better deal than you are. A previous investigation by consumer group Which? found Sainsbury's and Tesco have increased the price of everyday goods then slapped loyalty prices on them thinking customers wouldn't notice. Either way, it's worth shopping around though. Supermarkets change their prices all the time, sometimes multiple times daily, so it's worth researching to ensure you're getting the best price on an item. You can use websites like Trolley to see how the major supermarket's compare in terms of price on any number of goods. Tesco also has the same deal for shoppers through its loyalty scheme. A litre of the original Irish Cream is now just £10 with a Clubcard, a whopping saving of £12. Despite being a festive favourite it's the cheapest it's been all year. The deal is running until December 9, so shoppers need to be quick to snatch the tipple. You can sign up for Tesco's Clubcard scheme for free and bag special prices like this one. Loyalty members can collect points every time they shop which then can be exchanged for vouchers. If you don't have a Nectar or Clubcard then you'll be stuck paying full price which is £21.95 and £22 respectively. The next cheapest stores selling the liqueur are Ocado and Asda which are both selling a litre for £13. How to save money on Christmas shopping Consumer reporter Sam Walker reveals how you can save money on your Christmas shopping. Limit the amount of presents - buying presents for all your family and friends can cost a bomb. Instead, why not organise a Secret Santa between your inner circles so you're not having to buy multiple presents. Plan ahead - if you've got the stamina and budget, it's worth buying your Christmas presents for the following year in the January sales. Make sure you shop around for the best deals by using price comparison sites so you're not forking out more than you should though. Buy in Boxing Day sales - some retailers start their main Christmas sales early so you can actually snap up a bargain before December 25. Delivery may cost you a bit more, but it can be worth it if the savings are decent. Shop via outlet stores - you can save loads of money shopping via outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts. They work by selling returned or slightly damaged products at a discounted rate, but usually any wear and tear is minor.Arkansas WR Andrew Armstrong declares for NFL draft, skipping bowl5 winners, 3 losers from the Lions’ win against Colts - Pride Of Detroit

Paris Saint-Germain have retained their six-point lead at the top of Ligue 1 with a 3-0 home win over Toulouse. The defending champions dominated the first half but it took until the 35th minute to open the scoring. Young Portuguese midfielder João Neves spun to meet a cross from the right and struck a superb half volley from just outside the box. Lucas Beraldo got a second with six minutes remaining when he pounced on a loose ball and fired home. Vitinha made it 3-0 in stoppage time when he showed fine footwork inside the box to finish off a quick counterattack. The scoreline was harsh on Toulouse, who came into the game in a more even second half. Only Vitinha's last-gasp tackle stopped Zakaria Aboukhlal from equalising after 69 minutes and then Shavy Babicka blazed over from close range a minute later when he should have hit the target. The win was a confidence boost for Luis Enrique's side ahead of next Tuesday's Champions League encounter at Bayern Munich. PSG lie in 25th place in the 36-team Champions League table with one win in four matches and outside the playoff spots. The win came immediately after second-placed Monaco beat Brest 3-2 to briefly close the gap at the top to three points. Brest, who meet Barcelona next week in the Champions League, turned in another inconsistent French league performance and struggled to show the sparkling form they have produced in Europe. Brest have struggled in Ligue 1, where they remain 12th, but thrive with three wins from four in their first ever Champions League campaign. They were behind after just five minutes on Friday when Maghnes Akliouche scored with a superb airborne volley, and 2-0 down after 24 minutes after Aleksandr Golovin scored. The Russian striker seized on a poor pass just outside the Brest penalty area and his low shot was perfectly placed, sneaking in off the post to give him his first goal in nine league appearances. On-loan Brighton striker Abdallah Sima used his 1.88-metre frame to outjump the Monaco defence four minutes into the second half and cut the deficit, but Akliouche restored Monaco's two-goal cushion when he brilliantly finished a quick counterattack in stoppage time. Ludovic Ajorque got a second for Brest in the sixth minute of added time but it was not enough in a second half most notable for the red card shown to Brest coach Éric Roy.

Biden’s visit, the first to Angola by a U.S. president, is meant to promote billions of dollars of commitments to the sub-Saharan African nation for what he called the largest ever U.S. rail investment overseas. “The United States is all in on Africa,” Biden earlier Tuesday told Angolan President João Lourenço, who called Biden’s visit a key turning point in U.S.-Angola relations dating back to the Cold War. But even as the trip was meant to counter China’s influence on the African continent of over 1.4 billion people by showcasing a U.S. commitment of $3 billion for the Lobito Corridor railway redevelopment linking Zambia, Congo and Angola, China announced its own move. The corridor across southern Africa is meant to make it easier to ship raw materials for export and advance the U.S. presence in a region rich in critical minerals used in batteries for electric vehicles, electronic devices and clean energy technologies. China already has heavy investments in mining and processing African minerals, and on Tuesday it announced it is banning exports to the United States of gallium, germanium, antimony and other high-tech materials. It came a day after the U.S. expanded its list of Chinese technology companies subject to controls. The U.S. for years has built relations in Africa through trade, security and humanitarian aid. The 800-mile (1,300-kilometer) railway upgrade is different, with shades of China’s Belt and Road infrastructure strategy in Africa and other parts of the world. Biden will visit the coastal city of Lobito on Wednesday for a look at the corridor’s Atlantic Ocean outlet. The project also has drawn financing from the European Union, the Group of Seven leading industrialized nations, a Western-led private consortium and African banks. It was not clear how much of the U.S. commitments had been delivered and how much will depend on the Trump administration. White House national security spokesperson John Kirby said the corridor’s completion is “going to take years.” That means much of it may fall to Donald Trump , who takes office on Jan. 20. Asked whether the project could proceed without Trump’s support, Kirby said the Biden administration’s hopes “that they see the value too.” Kirby also insisted that the corridor was about more than simply trying to outpace Beijing, saying that “we’re not asking countries to choose between us and Russia and China.” One Angolan, 19-year-old Ladislau Ngola, called Biden’s visit “very important for our country as the Lobito Corridor will create lots of jobs for young people.” Julião Oliveira said ”Africa in general” would benefit, too. The rainy streets of the capital, Luanda, had a heavy military presence but few civilians — a striking change from Biden’s arrival on Monday, when cheering onlookers lined his route. Authorities on Tuesday encouraged people downtown to stay home. As the motorcade passed through outer neighborhoods, crowds waved from rooftops or intersections. Biden and Lourenco briefly addressed reporters before a closed-door meeting. Biden ignored questions about his decision to issue a pardon for his son after previously pledging not to, and joked to the Angolan delegation, “Welcome to America.” He also told Lourenco while pledging to use the trip to listen: “We don’t think, because we’re bigger and more powerful, that we’re smarter. We don’t think we have all the answers.” Angola’s president said he’d like to see a public-private partnership to increase energy production, and praised Biden’s leadership on the Lobito Corridor, saying it would “always be remembered.” After the meeting, a senior U.S. administration official said China didn’t come up. The official, who insisted on anonymity to discuss a meeting that was not public, also said Biden’s visit to Lobito will be joined by the presidents of Zambia and Congo. Biden had promised to visit sub-Saharan Africa last year , after reviving the U.S.-Africa Summit in 2022. But the trip was delayed until this year, reinforcing a sentiment among Africans that their continent is still a low priority for Washington. The last U.S. president to visit sub-Saharan Africa was Barack Obama in 2015. Biden toured Angola’s National Slavery Museum at a site that was formerly the headquarters of the Capela da Casa Grande. The 17th century temple is where slaves were baptized against their will, with their names changed, before boarding ships to America. Angola was the departure point for an estimated 6 million enslaved people, the White House said. Looking ahead, “I know the future runs through Angola, through Africa,” Biden said. Speaking by the water, he said history “cannot and should not be erased,” and that while America was founded on the ideal of freedom and equality, “it’s abundantly clear today we have not lived up to that ideal.” AP journalist John Karlos in Luanda, Angola, contributed.
