In light of these considerations, it is evident that Da Bing's criticism of bargain hunters as morally deficient is misguided and unfair. While there are certainly examples of unethical behavior within the realm of consumerism, it is essential to differentiate between those who exploit loopholes for personal gain and those who are simply striving to navigate a challenging economic landscape with integrity.Cerence AI Announces Equity Grant to Employee Under Inducement Plan Pursuant to Nasdaq Listing Rule 5635(c)(4)

That includes one woman who saved herself an eye-watering £135 on ornaments, tree baubles, nutcrackers and even gift bags. Sofia Spencer Rachel Stevens didn’t nab the bargains in her local supermarket, though. Instead, she found them at a local garden centre - retailers which are often overlooked when it comes to bargain hunting. Sofia took to Facebook group Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK to boast about her finds and alert other shoppers. She wrote: “I love shopping at garden centres. “I bought all this and it should have been £205, but got for £70. “The wooden stars, one is 60cm and one 50cm - gorgeous quality. “Nutcrackers, decorations and gift bags ready for next year.” It’s not just Sofia who has twigged onto garden centre bargains. Sarah Green commented: “Love a garden centre Christmas sale.” Garden centres often stock premium and unique Christmas decorations, including hand-crafted ornaments, wreaths and garlands, many of which are unavailable in mainstream stores. They’re also a good place to pick up a faux Christmas tree at a good price. What’s more, countless garden centres in the UK have loyalty programs that offer members exclusive discounts or vouchers. These can often be redeemed against sale items, making your year-early savings even better. And it’s no secret that garden centre bosses and staff last Christmas. HERE'S what you need to know if you're buying a real Christmas tree: First thing's first: buy a pot (if it doesn't come in one already). You'll need to treat your tree just like a houseplant and give it water and attention. Make sure the container has good drainage - and it's a good idea to put something underneath to catch the excess water. Check the soil everyday to make sure it's not drying out. If it feels dry, give it some water. If it still feels moist, leave it alone as too much water can also kill a tree. Also check the LED bulbs on your tree lights aren't too hot as they could burn it, and keep your tree away from radiators. When Christmas is over, try planting it in the garden so you can dig it up and use it again next year. It's a good idea to take it out of its pot when you do re-plant it though, as large trees don't survive well in pots as their roots need space to grow. In August, The Sun reported that one put out Christmas trees and decorations on the hottest day of the year. Staff at Summerhill’s in Basildon, Essex, spruced up the shelves with seasonal stuff as temperatures hit 32C. Manager Charlotte Harrington said: “For many, many years now, we’ve opened our Christmas department on the August bank holiday. "The stock comes in early and we gradually start putting it out on the shop floor. This is just a small fraction of what we have. “But our Christmas displays are so spectacular it takes time to get everything set up, so we have to start early .”

CLEVELAND, Ohio — For the third consecutive week, there was a familiar face on the other side. The Browns were deflated during their 20-3 defeat to the Dolphins by the hands of quarterback Tyler Huntley, who spent training camp with Cleveland before being released the day after final cuts. It’s been an interesting 2024 for Huntley, better known by his nickname “Snoop.” From being released by Cleveland, to going back to Baltimore’s practice squad, then heading to Miami, to finding himself starting Sunday in place of injured starter Tua Tagovailoa, was made inactive due to a hip injury. But for the South Florida native, walking out victorious versus his former team, it was just business. “ It was just more of just hitting those guys again. Like when I left out...that was it, you know?” Huntley said. The win extended Miami’s hopes at clinching a playoff berth, as the Dolphins have won three of their last four games. “We (knew it was) a possibility because he was a little slow and came in on the day that we left,” Huntley said of Tagovailoa’s injury. “I heard it as we got in here right now. He felt a little sore, you know, and was switching off reps.” Huntley delivered by completing 84.6% of his passes for 225 yards and one touchdown, and also had one rushing touchdown. Four of his completions traveled 15 or more yards downfield, per Next Gen Stats. Despite having not played since Week 7, Huntley came in looking collected and ready to lead Miami. “When it was time to make a play, we had to make a play,” Huntley said. “The time that the plays were there, we just took them and we just got to get better, and clean up our fundamentals.” Huntley scored the game’s first touchdown in the third quarter to help Miami take a 13-3 lead. He described the 13-yard score, in which he faked the pass before scrambling down the sideline, and performed a little stutter-step before diving into the end zone. “I was really just trying to get a little bit more space, man. If I didn’t have them stutter-studs on man, it was tough to pick them feet up out the ground,” Huntley said. Tyler Huntley takes it in himself! That’s why he’s our guy, and we’ve rocked behind Snoop the whole time, and he’s a hell of a football player and a great man as well. He’s a huge pivotal reason why we won that game today, so shout out to Snoop,” Smith said. “He’s a baller. Snoop’s been around for a while. He’s came in early in his career and won some key football games, and he’s done the same thing here. Big plays that helped us to pedal forward, and we went up there and did his thing, led us to a win.” Jonnu extends the lead for the @MiamiDolphins , his 7th TD reception of the year! 📺: #MIAvsCLE on CBS/Paramount+ 📱: https://t.co/waVpO8ZBqG pic.twitter.com/fAx6BV6qG1 Huntley was drafted by Baltimore in 2020 and spent four seasons as Lamar Jackson’s backup. After the 2023 season, he signed with Cleveland, and was positioned in a duel with Dorian Thompson-Robinson for the third-string quarterback role. In three preseason games, Huntley completed 37 passes for 322 yards, with three touchdowns and two interceptions. His best performance was during the preseason finale loss to Seattle, where he played the whole second half and threw for 146 yards and three scores. After making the official roster, Huntley was released the next day due to a lack of trade interest, after losing the position battle to Thompson-Robinson. Baltimore brought him back to its practice squad. After Tagovailoa suffered a concussion in Week 2, and underwhelming play from their backup quarterbacks in Week 3, Miami decided to pick up Huntley off the Ravens’ practice squad. He started the next three games for them, picking up one win and completing 59% of his passes for 377 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the stretch. Tagovailoa returned in Week 8 versus the Cardinals, a game where though Huntley wasn’t playing, he feels he had a better understanding of how to command Miami’s offense. “I’ll say after my third start when I was able to just watch Tua come in right in that Arizona game, it just, I was able to just pick it up (while snapping fingers) and see how he takes control of the offense,” Huntley said. And after the win over Cleveland on Sunday, Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel likes what he’s seen from Huntley. “I think what was evident was the positives of time for Snoop and for how far he’s come since we last played with him. I thought that was a tremendous outing for him,” McDaniel said. “I thought he made some plays and was very good with the ball, and those are always cool things for a player when they’re playing a team that they were on in that same calendar year.” Football Insider newsletter free trial: Take a minute and sign up for a free trial of our Football Insider newsletter, featuring exclusive content from cleveland.com's Browns reporters.Shoppers in Stoke-on-Trent have been left bemused after spotting Easter eggs on supermarket shelves before New Year’s Eve. With Easter Sunday falling on April 20 next year, customers shared their confusion on social media after finding chocolate eggs and hot cross buns already for sale in shops including Morrisons, Tesco and Asda. Joseph Robinson found Easter confectionary including Cadbury Mini Eggs, and themed Kit-Kat and Kinder Surprise products at his Morrisons in Festival Park on Friday evening. “It’s funny, as they’ve not even managed to shift the Christmas chocolates off the shelves yet and they’re already stocking for Easter,” the 35-year-old admin support worker told PA. “I wish that supermarkets weren’t so blatantly consumerist-driven and would actually allow customers and staff a time to decompress during the Christmas period.” Asked if he was tempted to make a purchase, Mr Robinson added: “As a vegan it holds no appeal to me!” One social media user, @Jingle1991, shared an image of Malteser Bunnies in Sainsbury’s on Christmas Eve and pointed out: “Jesus hasn’t even been born yet.” Meanwhile, Gary Evans shared a shot of Creme Eggs on display in Morrisons in Margate on Boxing Day. “I just think its crazy that everything is so superficial and meaninglessly commercial... (there’s) something quite frantic about it,” the 66-year-old told the PA news agency. Mike Chalmers, a devout Christian from Chippenham, Wiltshire, was slightly less critical after spotting a display entitled: “Celebrate this Easter with Cadbury.” “Christmas and Easter are the two centrepoints of the Christian good news story so it’s no bad thing to see the connections,” the 44-year-old said. “It’s about more than shapes of chocolate though!” Marketing consultant Andrew Wallis admitted he was surprised to see Easter eggs in the Co-op in Kilgetty, Pembrokeshire, but added it also illustrates “forward-thinking” from big businesses. “It made me reflect on how big brands are always thinking ahead and planning early,” the 54-year-old from the Isle of Man, who provides marketing advice to the fitness industry, told PA. “My message to retailers would be: while planning ahead is important, it’s also essential to be mindful of consumer sentiment. “Some might feel it’s too early for seasonal products like this but others might see it as a sign of forward-thinking. Striking the right balance is key to keeping customers happy.” Sign up for the latest breaking news and top stories from StokeonTrentLive on WhatsApp
