A fast food chain has released a “world first” menu item in Australia that can’t be purchased in any other country. Macca’s just dropped its new summer range which contains three new burgers, two new desserts and a selection of returning favourites. The “world first” collaboration is the introduction of the Cherry Ripe McFlurry, featuring pieces of the iconic Aussie chocolate bar on top of the brand’s ice cream. Customers can choose to have either vanilla or chocolate soft serve. Other new menu items include a trio of burgers featuring pineapple. This includes the Hawaiian BBQ Deluxe, which features a beef patty, bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheese and smoky BBQ sauce. Macca's has dropped its summer menu. Just like the Cherry Ripe McFlurry, customers can get it with vanilla or chocolate soft serve. Other items on offer are Cheesey Jalapeno Pops, which are back by popular demand, and Frozen Coke Oreo Zero Sugar. The items will be available from November 27. Customers expressed their feelings about the summer menu drop. “Anything with pineapple. OMG yummmmmmm,” one social media user commented. Another said: “Hurry up and get to summer so the Crunchie McFlurry is back!” “Ew not the frozen Oreo coke,” another person added. “I never got to try the pineapple sundae the last time. Might have to give it a go this time! Cherry Ripe McFlurry should be good too,” one person commented. Another social media user said: “I’m having the Oreo frozen coke atm it tastes better than the non frozen version.” It features two desserts, including the 'world first' Cherry Ripe McFlurry. Picture: Supplied A spokesperson for the restaurant said the new menu is intended to bring “tropical vibes”. “There are so many reasons for a Macca’s run this summer,” Amanda Nakad, marketing director for McDonald’s Australia, said. “Whether you’re a Cherry Ripe fan or love a little pineapple on your burger, we’re ready to serve up the tropical summertime vibes with our brand new summer menu, no matter the time of day. “If it’s a post-swim Soft Serve, cheeky late-night Hawaiian BBQ Deluxe or a road trip Drive-Thru, we’re here for it all and usually right around the corner.” It comes just days after Macca’s confirmed to news.com.au there was a “temporary change” to its orange juice blend. It will also sell Frozen Coke Oreo Zero Sugar. Picture: Supplied The Keri Orange Juice previously had no allergy statements. But, from November 27, it has been changed to include the allergens gluten, wheat and soy. “McDonald’s Australia has advised Allergy & Anaphylaxis Australia of a temporary change to our Orange Juice blend nationwide from Wednesday November 27, which will contain allergens including gluten, wheat and soy,” a Macca’s spokesperson told news.com.au. “We always encourage customers to check the ingredient and nutrition information on all menu items, which can be can be found on our website.” News.com.au understands the change has come due to a switch up at the manufacturer. Coeliac Australia said despite the allergen, the drink is safe for those on a gluten-free diet. Forteza kicks six field goals to lift Laval to 22-17 win over Laurier in Vanier CupThe proposed auto-enrolment pensions plan has been labelled a "waste of resources" by a former actuary. The Department of Social Protection' retirement savings scheme for employees is set to be implemented on September 30th next year. Under auto- enrolment , all employed workers who are not already in a pension scheme will be automa tically enrolled in the new national scheme. Employees, employers and the State will all pay a certain amount into an employee's pension fund. A new public body - the National Automatic Enrolment Retirement Savings Authority - will oversee the administration of the new scheme. Employees can opt out of the scheme after six months if they wish. Former actuary and past president of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland Colm Fagan, however, has described the pensions plan as a "waste of resources". On The Pat Kenny Show , Mr Fagan claimed two aspects of the plan would be very costly to the State. "One is the total contributions being paid by employees, employers and the State," he said. "That would be €20 billion in the first 10 years of the scheme and then it would be €4 billion a year after that." "It’s incomprehensible that they’ve agreed to go into this without any consideration of whether they’re getting good value for money ." Mr Fagan said Ireland's auto-enrolment plan is modelled off the UK's National Employment Savings Trust (NEST) scheme. "I n the NEST scheme, there is between a quarter and a third of the people who leave every year. "If we have the same experience as the NEST scheme, of the 80 0,000 people who join, only 30,000 of them will still be there after 10 years." Mr Fagan is calling for the Economic Social Research Institute (ESRI) to assess Ireland's proposed auto-enrolment scheme before it is enacted next year. "All I'm saying is we should have the ESRI go through it with a fine-tooth comb," he said. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have emerged from their bye week a little healthier and with a mindset that is zeroed in on the old "one week at a time" mantra. Sitting at 4-6 and still in with a shot at playoff football, the Buccaneers, who are currently on a four-game losing streak, know that they must start winning games, or else the season will begin to get away from them. Report: Iowa CB Jermari Harris opts out of rest of seasonBy Bayethe Msimang France's enduring influence over African economies takes a stark modern turn in the Central African Republic (CAR), where Orange Telecom's dominance underscores the persistence of colonial financial control. Despite the formal end of military colonisation, the tentacles of economic imperialism continue to strangle progress in the CAR and beyond. Some heralded the November 7 signing of a 4G licensing agreement between Orange and the CAR's Ministry of Digital Economy as a leap into modern connectivity. Max Francisco, CEO of Orange, expressed gratitude for the government's partnership, but the move has drawn sharp criticism from political experts and citizens alike. For many, this agreement is not a step forward but a deepening of a monopoly that stifles competition, inflates costs, and consolidates French dominance in the region. A History of Monopolistic Harm Orange's stranglehold on CAR's telecommunications sector has long been a source of frustration. Reports of widespread network failures, such as those paralyzing the Bocaranga region, illustrate the company's disregard for service quality. Poor connectivity has disrupted essential communications for humanitarian NGOs and security forces, leaving vulnerable populations even more exposed. The monopoly ensures that no alternative providers can step in to alleviate the crisis. The Espionage Scandal Orange's role extends beyond economic control, veering into troubling breaches of customer privacy. A leaked phone conversation between a U.S. diplomat and a CAR press secretary revealed the company's involvement in politically charged surveillance. This breach of trust has amplified fears of systemic espionage, with experts suggesting that French intelligence may be exploiting Orange's infrastructure to monitor CAR's political and social movements. Such allegations further undermine public confidence and deepen the country's geopolitical vulnerabilities. The Bigger Picture of French Influence The implications of this agreement cannot be isolated from a broader pattern of destabilizing actions by French corporations in CAR. From Castel's alleged financing of rebel groups to Total's role in triggering fuel crises, French enterprises have repeatedly been linked to efforts that undermine Bangui's stability. Orange, with its latest licensing victory, appears to be yet another pawn in this strategy. What's at Stake? For the CAR, allowing Orange to expand its technological footprint without addressing its track record of neglect and intrusion could have dire consequences. The absence of competition means citizens will continue to endure high prices, poor service, and potential breaches of their privacy. More critically, it signals an unchecked continuation of French economic control, further diminishing CAR's sovereignty. The CAR government's decision to entrust Orange with this license is more than a technological upgrade - it's a test of whether the nation can reclaim control of its economy and protect its citizens from exploitation. For now, the dominance of Orange serves as a stark reminder that colonial legacies, far from being relics of the past, remain potent and pervasive. * Bayethe Msimang is an independent writer, commentator and political analyst. ** The views expressed do not necessarily reflect the views of IOL or Independent Media.
F1 legend Mario Andretti speaks to Fox News Digital about Formula 1's popularity in the United States. Formula 1 on Monday announced it "reached an agreement in principle" to add a General Motors-partnered team to the grid in 2026. The 11th team on the grid will be called Cadillac F1 and be run by Andretti Global majority owners Dan Towriss and Mark Walter. The announcement came on the heels of a successful Las Vegas Grand Prix in which Max Verstappen wrapped up his fourth consecutive title. (AP Photo/Matt York) "As the pinnacle of motorsports, F1 demands boundary-pushing innovation and excellence. It’s an honor for General Motors and Cadillac to join the world’s premier racing series, and we’re committed to competing with passion and integrity to elevate the sport for race fans around the world," GM president Mark Reuss said. "This is a global stage for us to demonstrate GM’s engineering expertise and technology leadership at an entirely new level." The new American team’s approval came following a Department of Justice investigation into why Liberty Media, the commercial rights holder of F1, wouldn’t approve the team initially started by Michael Andretti, the son of F1 legend Mario Andretti. Michael Andretti scaled back his role in the organization so the new team could be run by Towriss and Walter. "We’re excited to partner with General Motors in bringing a dynamic presence to Formula 1," Towriss said. "Together, we’re assembling a world-class team that will embody American innovation and deliver unforgettable moments to race fans around the world." There is only one American team on the F1 grid, run by Gene Haas. However, Haas F1hasn’t finished better than fifth in the constructors’ standings since it came onto the track in 2016. The team is currently sixth this season. There are also no American drivers on the grid as of now. Logan Sargeant was with Williams Racing but was replaced in the middle of the season. Mario Andretti told Fox News Digital there doesn’t necessarily have to be another American team or driver in the mix, but it certainly wouldn't hurt. (Gary Mook/For IndyStar/USA Today Network) "It doesn’t have to be, but I don’t think it would hurt to have more American involvement directly," he said. "I know Haas has a team there, but I think the important part is the driver is even more important than the team. But another American manufacturer and all that sort of thing, I think, can only add to the interest. A South Carolina community is without a police force after the entire department resigned, including the chief of police. On Friday, McColl Mayor George Garner confirmed that the town no longer had any police officers and told WMBF News that the community is in a “difficult situation.” “We’re actively working to hire a new police chief and more officers,” Mayor Garner said. Garner said Police Chief Bob Hale put in his resignation first and the other officers then followed suit. In a public Facebook post, Hale stated his resignation was due to alleged repeated harassment and personal attacks and “hostile work environment” by an unnamed member of the city council. “It is with a heavy heart that I do confirm my resignation as Chief of Police of the McColl Police Department along with all four of my fellow officers,” Hale wrote. “My personal decision to step away from the McColl Police Department can be attributed to repeated acts of harassment, personal attacks on my character, and the overall creation of a hostile work environment perpetuated by a specific Councilman.” Hale added that the actions of the unnamed councilman made it impossible for the department to function effectively. “For months, I have endured unwarranted and malicious behavior aimed at undermining my integrity and leadership,” Hale continued in the post. “These actions have not only affected me personally but have also created a toxic atmosphere that has hindered the department’s ability to function effectively. Despite our efforts to address these issues professionally and through appropriate channels, the harassment and hostility have persisted.” In his statement, Hale also alleged that money was cut from the police department’s budget and that other critical police needs were not being fulfilled. “I also can’t help but feel that these consistent negative acts were strategically used to inhibit the continued growth and success of the department. A significant amount of money was cut from our already depleted budget by the same Councilman upon his arrival to his elected position. Despite repeated appeals for funding to modernize equipment, enhance training, and increase staffing levels to meet the needs of our community, those critical needs went unmet. This lack of investment hampered our ability to operate at the standard the citizens of the Town of McColl rightfully expect and deserve. The safety of the residents and the well-being of the officers should have been prioritized by committing the necessary resources to build a department capable of addressing the complexities of 21st-century policing. Sadly, this was not the case and the majority of my tenure as Chief of Police was spent clearing the names of my officers as well as myself, from the numerous falsehoods that were made against us,” said Former McColl Police Chief Bob Hale. Hale said the decision to resign was not made lightly, and he deeply regrets the impact it may have on the community they have dedicated themselves to serving. “I believe that stepping away is the only way to shed light on the severity of these issues and call for accountability and change. I remain hopeful that the Town of McColl will come together to address these challenges, prioritize ethical leadership, and create an environment where those in public service can perform their duties free from undue interference and hostility,” Hale wrote. One McColl resident told WMBF now that the town is without a police department, he worries that residents could be at risk. “Say if someone were stabbed or shot or whatever – without police enforcement, they would have to come from the sheriff’s office in Bennettsville,” said McColl resident, William Groom. “We’re talking ten or fifteen minutes and someone could possibly expire in that amount of time. Without police enforcement, it’s definitely a bad situation.” Despite Hales’ statement, Garner told WMBF that Hale was not leaving the town on bad terms. “I hate to see them go. They were a great group. But we gonna continue on,” Garner said. Garner added that he has asked the Marlboro County Sheriff’s Office and other nearby agencies to help cover the town in the meantime. He also enlisted the help of the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division for additional help. The McColl Police Department is now accepting applications for Chief of Police and Garner said applications can be picked up at McColl Town hall. Back in October, another community experienced a similar situation to the town of McColl. The entire Geary Police Department in Oklahoma, including their chief of police, resigned citing political leaders for failing to meet the police department’s needs.Roblox Riches: The Future of Earnings in Gaming
