MISSOULA, Mont. – The University of Montana's spirited student group, the Zoo Crew, is gearing up for a big weekend in Bozeman. Known for their energy and enthusiasm, these Griz superfans are heading south to support their team in the much-anticipated Brawl of the Wild rivalry game. Throughout the school year, the 370 Zoo Crew members earn points on the Montana Grizzlies app by attending various sporting events. Silvia Ciacci, the UM Zoo Crew Captain, explained, "It's location based, and so if they're at the location of that event, they can check in, get their points." This weekend, the six students with the most points will be rewarded with a trip to the Brawl. Ciacci shared, "They're getting sent to Bozeman to go watch Griz / Cat volleyball and Griz / Cat football, it's sponsored by Griz Athletics." She added, "Some of them are freshmen, so you know, it's their first rivalry game is definitely very exciting." Recommended Videos Tice's mother and other relatives spoke at an event Friday following a White House meeting with national security officials that unfolded amid ongoing turmoil in Syria, as insurgent fighters who have already captured the northern city of Aleppo, the country's largest , are pressing their march against President Bashar Assad's forces. “The news we're hearing from the Middle East is the kind of thing that can unsettle a mom,” Debra Tice said, later adding, “When I think about war, I never have a happy moment.” Austin Tice's sister, Naomi, said she asked officials whether there was a way to leverage the unrest to help secure Austin's freedom. “We were basically just told that we need to wait and see how it pans out” — a response she said may have been “understandable” but was “beyond frustrating.” Tice's father, Marc, echoed that sentiment, noting that meetings this week with White House and State Department officials had devolved into finger-pointing and frustration. “We have seen what real commitment looks like. We've seen it in Russia. We've seen it in China, we've seen in Venezuela, we see it in Gaza," he said, referring to places where hostages have been released in recent months. “And we've yet to see it for us.” He, too, declined to speak about the information pointing to his son being alive but said, “We are confident that this information is fresh. Former President Jimmy Carter has died at the age of 100. The 39th president of the United States was a Georgia peanut farmer who sought to restore trust in government when he assumed the presidency in 1977 and then built a reputation for tireless work as a humanitarian. He earned a Nobel Peace Prize in 2002. Carter died Sunday, coming up on two years after entering hospice care, at his home in Plains, Georgia. At age 52, Carter was sworn in as president on Jan. 20, 1977, after defeating President Gerald R. Ford in the 1976 general election. Carter left office on Jan. 20, 1981, following his 1980 general election loss to Ronald Reagan. Here's the latest: President Joe Biden has scheduled a state funeral in Washington for former President Jimmy Carter on Jan. 9.
