Jaland Lowe flirted with a triple-double as Pitt improved to 6-0 with a 74-63 win over LSU on Friday afternoon at the Greenbrier Tip-Off in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. Lowe finished with a game-high 22 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists for the Panthers, who have won their first six games of a season for the first time since the 2018-19 campaign. It would have been the second straight triple-double for Lowe, who had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists against VMI Monday. Ishmael Leggett chipped in 21 points and Cameron Corhen supplied 14, helping Pitt outshoot the Tigers (4-1) 44.4 percent to 37.3 percent overall. Vyctorius Miller and Jalen Reed recorded 14 points apiece for LSU, with Reed also snatching seven boards. Cam Carter contributed 11 points. Pitt took control in the first four-plus minutes of the second half, opening the period on a 13-0 run to build a 40-28 lead. The Tigers were held scoreless following the break until Carter converted a layup with 13:13 to go. It was still a 12-point game after Zack Austin hit a pair of free throws with 12:50 remaining, but LSU then rallied. Corey Chest, Reed and Jordan Sears each had a bucket down low for the Tigers during an 8-1 spurt that made it 43-38. However, Lowe stemmed the tide, answering with back-to-back 3-pointers to put the Panthers up 49-38 with 9:31 left. Miller did everything he could to keep LSU in contention, scoring eight points in a span of 1 minute, 23 seconds, with his four-point play getting the Tigers within 56-52 with 6:03 to play. But Pitt never let LSU get the upper hand, and it led by at least six for the final 5:05 of the contest. The Tigers had a 28-27 edge at intermission after ending the first half on an 8-2 run. LSU overcame a quick start by the Panthers, who raced out to a 12-6 advantage and led by as many as eight in the first 20 minutes of action. --Field Level Mediayy777 casino

Police body-cam footage has captured the moment police arrested a man on suspicion of harassment and voyeurism following a series of viral ‘Manchester nightlife’ videos filming intoxicated women in Manchester city centre . Uniformed officers are seen smashing down the front door of a house in Bradford this morning (November 27) with a 'wham-ram' before arresting the suspect and escorting him into the rear of a waiting police van. The arrest follows a Manchester Evening News investigation into the videos which saw women filmed without their knowledge - often in vulnerable positions - on Peter Street and Deansgate . Investigations by the M.E.N exposed the trend and revealed how vloggers were posting more explicit videos behind paywalls . Footage that was posted for subscribers paying £13 per month zooms in on women's chests and bottoms as they walk, unaware they are being filmed. Video Loading Video Unavailable Click to play Tap to play The video will auto-play soon 8 Cancel Play now Information collected during our investigation was passed to Greater Manchester Police , who traced a suspect and conducted this morning’s arrest. It is understood to be the first arrest in the country linked with viral videos on social media platforms filming women on nights out. The videos, which have racked up millions of views, have also been taken in London, Liverpool, and Leeds. The 27-year-old suspect has been arrested and remains in police custody for questioning. In a statement, Greater Manchester Police said: “This morning (Wednesday 27 November 2024), we’ve arrested a 27-year-old man in Bradford on suspicion of stalking and harassment, in connection with several reports of women being followed, filmed, and harassed in Manchester City Centre. “This arrest is thought to be the first in the country linked with several viral videos on social media platforms appearing to have filmed women on nights out, some whilst in vulnerable positions. “As well as the widely viewed videos posted publicly, through further investigation, we found more content locked under paywalled accounts which included footage of suspected non-consensual nudity and upskirting. “After the issue was first brought to our attention, we made several appeals for anyone directly impacted by these videos to come forward. Many women did so, explaining the fear this had created for them, and the impact on their feeling of being safe whilst out at night. (Image: Greater Manchester Police) “Over the past few months, our neighbourhood team have worked in close consultation with the CPS to understand what next steps we could take with the reports received. “The videos in Manchester were primarily filmed around the Peter Street and Deansgate areas.” Chief Inspector Stephen Wiggins said, “We took the concerns of the public really seriously on this issue, and have worked hard with partners to assess the full circumstances and what courses of action were available to us. It is a very new and complex issue, but this is a significant development. “Everyone has the right to feel safe as they enjoy a night out, and these videos have made people, particularly women, not feel like that, which we can’t tolerate. “Filming in public is legal, however where this filming crosses the line into offences such as upskirting, stalking or harassment, it’s important that we don’t allow that behaviour. “Every Friday and Saturday there are approximately 60 officers on patrol around our city centre hotspots, also with support from partners, charities, and volunteers. Collectively, we are all on the look out for any behaviour that appears predatory in nature, proactively challenging that behaviour and safeguarding anyone who is vulnerable. (Image: MEN) “Particularly as we enter one of our busiest periods in the year, Christmas and New Year, I want to reassure the public that Manchester City Centre’s night life is safe, and they can expect us to take action against anyone who threatens that. “We would continue to encourage anyone who has personally been impacted by the content within these videos to come forward to us, so we can record these reports and assist with our ongoing investigations. This can be done via our online reporting tool (link) or by calling 101.”While we are witnessing an ever-escalating cascade of climate disasters, leaders from the world’s most polluting countries were conspicuously absent from COP29, the United Nations’ annual climate conference. Others boycotted the conference because of host country Azerbaijan’s rampant human rights abuses, particularly its ethnic cleansing of Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh last year. Papua New Guinea called the conference “a total waste of time.” Meanwhile, Azerbaijan appointed Elnur Soltanov, the head of its state energy company Socar, as its chief executive to the conference. Soltanov appeared to use the occasion as a forum to cut deals with international petroleum corporations. Nonetheless, there were still over 65,000 registered delegates – making it the second largest in COP’s history. One of those delegates was Chief Wesley Sam from BC’s Ts’il Kaz Koh Nation. The Nation reached Chief Sam during his first “conference of parties” (COP) in Baku, Azerbaijan, after a journey he said took four flights. As chairperson of K’uul Power, a First Nations-led organization pursuing the development of renewable energy projects, he is negotiating with BC Hydro to own a transmission line cutting through several Indigenous territories. “I’m just coming from an event with beautiful wind, solar, earth-based projects and carbon-capture systems,” Sam told the Nation. “First Nations are an absolute key to the success in green energy projects. It’s time to heal.” Sam is optimistic that green energy solutions will power the future. “Our youth are getting very engaged – we call them K’uul kids,” he enthused. “I’d like to bring my youth to the next one so they can start ground-pounding like I am.” Climate change has ravaged his region with forest fires, disappearing salmon stocks and a devastating pine beetle epidemic. At COP29, Sam noted that Indigenous peoples worldwide are facing similar issues yet doing what they can locally to make a difference. “This shows we’re not alone in this fight,” Sam asserted. “It’s us that have to clean it up. What will come out of this is worth the time and energy. There’s a chance we can help steer the ship.” He joined the First Nations Climate Initiative (FNCI) delegation in Baku to showcase Indigenous partnerships in zero-emission and low-carbon energy projects. FNCI is pitching liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a potential emissions solution for Asian steel and shipping industries. However, critics like LNG senior strategist John Young from Climate Action Network have stated LNG has 33% more emissions than coal when shipping, production and methane leaks are considered. FNCI maintains that its responsible production and monitoring process can contribute to decarbonization and Indigenous economic self-determination. After the last summit’s historic pledge to transition away from fossil fuels, oil giants like Saudi Arabia have attempted to sidestep commitments, alleging they were “an option” rather than a goal. The major focus at COP29 was climate finance, with demands that rich countries to help poor countries pay for their fossil fuel transition and cope with climate change repercussions. As talks entered their final days, hopes for confirming the $1 trillion annually demanded by developing countries were diminishing. Indigenous voices at COP29 were vastly outnumbered by fossil fuel lobbyists. But they were adamant be heard, asserting they look after 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity but receive less than 1% of global climate finance. “Sea level rise is eating us up,” said Flora Vano from the South Pacific island state of Vanuatu. “It threatens our food security, contaminates our water source, infrastructure is destroyed and the increase in gender-based violence goes sky high.” Many Indigenous peoples are alarmed by the prospect of carbon credit trading without adequate safeguards and transparency, as these projects have already resulted in land grabs and rights violations. While some leaders suggested these initiatives have potential to support First Nations communities, they affirmed their fundamental rights must be paramount. Indigenous delegates like Panama’s Giuseppe Olo Villalaz believed this conference was an opportunity to prepare for next year’s climate gathering in the Brazilian Amazon where more decisive commitments are expected. At COP29, Indigenous leaders from Brazil, Australia and the Pacific joined forces to demand shared leadership of future climate talks. Meanwhile, in Rio de Janeiro where the G20 meeting was taking place, Brazil’s Indigenous movement launched a campaign called “The Answer Is Us” and demanded official co-presidency at COP30.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — Brock Purdy threw one short pass in the open portion of practice for the San Francisco 49ers as he remains slowed by an injury to his throwing shoulder that has already forced him to miss a game. Purdy spent the bulk of the session of Wednesday's practice open to reporters as either a spectator or executing handoffs outside of one short pass to Jordan Mason. Purdy hurt his shoulder during a loss to Seattle on Nov. 17. He tried to throw at practice last Thursday but had soreness in his right shoulder and shut it down. He missed a loss to Green Bay but was able to do some light throwing on Monday. His status for this week remains in doubt as the Niners (5-6) prepare to visit Buffalo on Sunday night. Purdy isn't the only key player for San Francisco dealing with injuries. Left tackle Trent Williams and defensive end Nick Bosa remain sidelined at practice Wednesday after missing last week's game. Williams was using a scooter to get around the locker room as he deals with a left ankle injury. Bosa has been out with injuries to his left hip and oblique. Bosa said the week off helped him make progress and that he hopes to be able to take part in individual drills later in the week. Bosa wouldn't rule out being able to play on Sunday. "It’s feeling a lot better,” Bosa said. “Still need to get better before I’m ready to go. This week will be big and I’ll know a lot more in the next couple of days.” Running back Christian McCaffrey has been able to play, but isn't back to the form that helped him win AP Offensive Player of the Year in 2023 after missing the first eight games this season with Achilles tendinitis. McCaffrey has 149 yards rushing in three games back with his 3.5 yards per carry down significantly from last season's mark of 5.4. But he is confident he will be able to get back to his usual level of play. “When you lose and maybe you don’t jump out on the stat sheet, your failures are highlighted,” he said. “I’m happy I’m out here playing football and I just know with time it will come.” Coach Kyle Shanahan said he has liked what he has seen from McCaffrey, adding that there hasn't been much room to run in recent weeks. But Shanahan said it takes time to get back to speed after McCaffrey had almost no practice time for nine months. “Guys who miss offseasons and miss training camp, usually it takes them a little bit of time at the beginning of the year to get back into how they were the year before, let alone missing half the season also on top of that,” Shanahan said. “I think Christian’s doing a hell of a job. But to just think him coming back in Week 8 with not being able to do anything for the last nine months or whatever it is, and to think he’s just going to be in MVP form is a very unrealistic expectation.” NOTES: LB Dre Greenlaw took part in his first practice since tearing his Achilles tendon in the Super Bowl. Greenlaw will likely need a couple of weeks of practice before being able to play. ... LB Fred Warner said he has been dealing with a fracture in his ankle since Week 4 and is doing his best to manage the pain as he plays through it. ... CB Deommodore Lenoir didn't practice after banging knees on Sunday. His status for this week remains in question. ... DT Jordan Elliott (concussion), OL Aaron Banks (concussion) and LB Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles (knee) also didn't practice. AP NFL: https://apnews.com/hub/NFL

A hot potato: The Trusted Platform Module standard describes a dedicated cryptography chip designed to manage many security-related tasks in a computer. The standard was introduced in 2009, but Microsoft recently decided to enforce a TPM requirement on every Windows 11 PC, which has seen heavy pushback since launch. While announcing Windows 11, Microsoft made a very controversial move to change hardware requirements significantly. The latest edition of the most popular PC operating system cannot run or even be installed under normal conditions if the CPU is a few years old or the motherboard doesn't include a specialized piece of crypto-hardware (or related firmware emulation) known as Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Senior Product Manager Steven Hosking recently revealed that Microsoft is reinforcing the idea that the TPM requirement is here to stay, and there will be no compromises even after the end of mainstream support for Windows 10. Redmond believes TPM technology is crucial to safeguarding Windows security and is even more essential when considering the future of the Windows ecosystem. Hosking explained that TPM's primary role is to offer hardware-level security features for a compatible computing device. The chip can securely store encryption keys and certificates. It can also shield passwords and sensitive data against misuse and unauthorized access. The TPM chip can also provide a random number generation engine, encrypt or decrypt data, and verify digital signatures. Windows 10 users will not receive security updates after October 2025 unless they pay for them. Microsoft concedes that the almost aging operating system is approaching the end of support. Still, the company is unwilling to remove or weaken the TPM 2.0 requirement from Windows 11 hardware specs to facilitate the upgrade from Windows 10. Hosking said that a TPM 2.0 chip addresses many security challenges in a constantly evolving digital world, providing improved support for industry-standard cryptographic algorithms and increased isolation for security processes. Furthermore, TPM 2.0 offers a "seamless" integration with Windows 11 security capabilities, including encryption key storage, Secure Boot, and multifactor authentication. "By instituting TPM 2.0 as a non-negotiable standard for the future of Windows, we elevate the security benchmark," Hosking stated. The TPM chip is essential for the present, especially future Windows platforms, providing enterprise customers with additional management options. Pardon the sarcasm, but this must be why people are still flocking to Windows 10 in droves, regardless of the operating system's waning lifecycle.By JOSH BOAK WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump loved to use tariffs on foreign goods during his first presidency. But their impact was barely noticeable in the overall economy, even if their aftershocks were clear in specific industries. The data show they never fully delivered on his promised factory jobs. Nor did they provoke the avalanche of inflation that critics feared. This time, though, his tariff threats might be different . The president-elect is talking about going much bigger — on a potential scale that creates more uncertainty about whether he’ll do what he says and what the consequences could be. “There’s going to be a lot more tariffs, I mean, he’s pretty clear,” said Michael Stumo, the CEO of Coalition for a Prosperous America, a group that has supported import taxes to help domestic manufacturing. The president-elect posted on social media Monday that on his first day in office he would impose 25% tariffs on all goods imported from Mexico and Canada until those countries satisfactorily stop illegal immigration and the flow of illegal drugs such as fentanyl into the United States. Those tariffs could essentially blow up the North American trade pact that Trump’s team negotiated during his initial term. Chinese imports would face additional tariffs of 10% until Beijing cracks down on the production of materials used in making fentanyl, Trump posted. Business groups were quick to warn about rapidly escalating inflation , while Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said she would counter the move with tariffs on U.S. products. House Democrats put together legislation to strip a president’s ability to unilaterally apply tariffs this drastic, warning that they would likely lead to higher prices for autos, shoes, housing and groceries. Sheinbaum said Wednesday that her administration is already working up a list of possible retaliatory tariffs “if the situation comes to that.” “The economy department is preparing it,” Sheinbaum said. “If there are tariffs, Mexico would increase tariffs, it is a technical task about what would also benefit Mexico,” she said, suggesting her country would impose targeted import duties on U.S. goods in sensitive areas. House Democrats on Tuesday introduced a bill that would require congressional approval for a president to impose tariffs due to claims of a national emergency, a largely symbolic action given Republicans’ coming control of both the House and Senate. “This legislation would enable Congress to limit this sweeping emergency authority and put in place the necessary Congressional oversight before any president – Democrat or Republican – could indiscriminately raise costs on the American people through tariffs,” said Rep. Suzan DelBene, D-Wash. But for Trump, tariffs are now a tested tool that seems less politically controversial even if the mandate he received in November’s election largely involved restraining inflation. The tariffs he imposed on China in his first term were continued by President Joe Biden, a Democrat who even expanded tariffs and restrictions on the world’s second largest economy. Biden administration officials looked at removing Trump’s tariffs in order to bring down inflationary pressures, only to find they were unlikely to help significantly. Tariffs were “so new and unique that it freaked everybody out in 2017,” said Stumo, but they were ultimately somewhat modest. Trump imposed tariffs on solar panels and washing machines at the start of 2018, moves that might have pushed up prices in those sectors even though they also overlapped with plans to open washing machine plants in Tennessee and South Carolina. His administration also levied tariffs on steel and aluminum, including against allies. He then increased tariffs on China, leading to a trade conflict and a limited 2020 agreement that failed to produce the promised Chinese purchases of U.S. goods. Still, the dispute changed relations with China as more U.S. companies looked for alternative suppliers in other countries. Economic research also found the United States may have sacrificed some of its “soft power” as the Chinese population began to watch fewer American movies. The Federal Reserve kept inflation roughly on target, but factory construction spending never jumped in a way that suggested a lasting gain in manufacturing jobs. Separate economic research found the tariff war with China did nothing economically for the communities hurt by offshoring, but it did help Trump and Republicans in those communities politically. When Trump first became president in 2017, the federal government collected $34.6 billion in customs, duties and fees. That sum more than doubled under Trump to $70.8 billion in 2019, according to Office of Management and Budget records. While that sum might seem meaningful, it was relatively small compared to the overall economy. America’s gross domestic product is now $29.3 trillion, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis. The total tariffs collected in the United States would equal less than 0.3% of GDP. The new tariffs being floated by Trump now are dramatically larger and there could be far more significant impacts. If Mexico, Canada, and China faced the additional tariffs proposed by Trump on all goods imported to the United States, that could be roughly equal to $266 billion in tax collections, a number that does not assume any disruptions in trade or retaliatory moves by other countries. The cost of those taxes would likely be borne by U.S. families, importers and domestic and foreign companies in the form of higher prices or lower profits. Former Biden administration officials said they worried that companies could piggyback on Trump’s tariffs — if they’re imposed — as a rationale to raise their prices, just as many companies after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 boosted food and energy costs and gave several major companies the space to raise prices, according to their own earnings calls with investors. But what Trump didn’t really spell out is what might cause him to back down on tariffs and declare a victory. What he is creating instead with his tariff threats is a sense of uncertainty as companies and countries await the details to figure out what all of this could mean. “We know the key economic policy priorities of the incoming Trump administration, but we don’t know how or when they will be addressed,” said Greg Daco, chief U.S. economist at EY-Parthenon. AP writer Mark Stevenson contributed to this report from Mexico City.Tickets for a Kings of Leon gig in Cardiff have gone on presale, but a licensing application to allow tens of thousands more to watch it at a popular park still hasn't been approved. Plans were recently announced for Blackweir Fields to be used for music events from next summer. DEPOT Live has partnered with Cuffe and Taylor for the Blackweir Live event which will feature a Kings of Leon gig on June 29, 2025. Blackweir Fields is well used for sports and leisure, particularly cricket. Bute Park is currently covered by a licence that allows for events with a capacity of 25,000 people. However, the intention is for Blackweir Live events to have a capacity of 35,000. A new licence from the local authority would be needed for this. A council spokesperson said: “Live music is central to our vision for Cardiff and the Blackweir Live events will help cement Cardiff’s status as a must-play destination for major artists, delivering significant economic benefits for the city, as well as providing the council with vital income to help us continue promoting the city as a music destination, and to invest in our parks." For more Cardiff stories, sign up to our newsletter here . “Blackweir Fields is an established events space and has successfully hosted large-scale events, including activities as part of the Olympics and the Eisteddfod in the past. The site is already covered by the current Bute Park licence which allows for a wide range of events with a capacity of up to 25,000 people and has previously seen thousands of people enjoy music events, such as the X Music Festival and KissStory, in the park. “Due to the increased capacity proposed for the Blackweir Live events a new licence application is required. Once this application has been made, it will be advertised to the public in line with all legal requirements. Key stakeholders in the park, including businesses, sports clubs and the Friends of Bute Park have already been made fully aware of the proposed events. “Blackweir Live is a privately managed event and decisions around the timing of ticket sales are a matter for the event promoter, however it is common practice across the music industry for ticket sales to begin before licencing arrangements have been finalised." Cuffe and Taylor and Cardiff-based DEPOT Live have presented a number of live music events at Cardiff Castle over the past two years. The partnership's intention is to have Blackweir Live debut in 2025 with four headline gigs. Kings of Leon tickets went on presale on Wednesday, December 4. The majority of Bute Park will still be accessible when there is a Blackweir Live gig on, but public access to Blackweir Fields will be restricted during the event and for a limited period either side of it to allow for everything to be set up and taken down. Cardiff Council said special care was being taken to protect the cricket squares on Blackweir Fields from damage. It added that the technology used at Blackweir would be the same as used when high profile cricket grounds such as Old Trafford hosted events.

Shares in uranium, nuclear fuels, and nuclear operating plant services company Cameco Corporation ( CCJ 0.37% ) powered higher by 15.2% in November, according to data provided by S&P Global Market Intelligence . The move coincides with a solid third-quarter earnings report released early in the month in an environment of improving optimism around the role of nuclear energy in the provision of power. Cameco powers higher The underlying results from Cameco were good in the third quarter, with adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization ( EBITDA ) rising by 32% to $308 million compared to the same quarter a year ago. In addition, management raised its 2024 uranium production outlook to 23.1 million pounds of uranium from a previous outlook of 22.4 million pounds on the back of an improved outlook at one of its top-tier mining operations in Key Lake, Saskatchewan. The major contributor to Cameco's segmental profit came from its uranium segment, responsible for $240 million in adjusted EBITDA, with nuclear operating services company Westinghouse (Cameco owns a 49% stake) responsible for $122 million, and finally fuel services, which contributed $28 million. Cameco has a bright future That said, investors aren't buying Cameco for what it is now, but instead what it could become. As CEO Tim Gitzel noted in the earnings presentation, "We are continuing to see a positive shift in government, industry, and public support for nuclear energy, further supported by recent announcements between utilities, reactor developers, and the industrial energy users." Gitzel's optimism is backed up by high-profile agreements signed by the leading cloud services companies to procure nuclear-powered energy: Microsoft , Alphabet 's Google, and Amazon have all signed deals this year. In addition, energy equipment and services company GE Vernova 's CEO, Scott Strazik, also declared he was "excited about the sentiment shift back toward nuclear" with a "new archetype of customers that are interested in nuclear power, [that] are going to ultimately, in most cases, still have a traditional nuclear operator running those plants." That's excellent news for GE Vernova's small nuclear services business and even better news for Westinghouse. A pickup in demand for nuclear reactors would strengthen demand for uranium, leading to profit expansion at Cameco. In addition, service demand will increase. There's a lot to like about Cameco. If the current trend toward nuclear energy as a carbon-free solution to ever-growing energy needs continues, the company will inevitably grow into its valuation of 28 times the estimated 2025 earnings.Telecom API Platform Market is set for a Potential Growth Worldwide: Excellent Technology Trends with Business Analysis 12-19-2024 07:58 PM CET | Media & Telecommunications Press release from: AMA Research & Media LLP Advance Market Analytics published a new research publication on "Telecom API Platform Market Insights, to 2030" with 232 pages and enriched with self-explained Tables and charts in presentable format.
