Gracie and Ava Hunt, the heiresses of the Chiefs franchise, received an early Christmas present from Taylor Swift . The two shared a series of Instagram Stories that showed signed copies of Swift's Eras Tour book. The book also included a signed note from the singer. Swift shared in the note how grateful she was for people attending her concerts over the length of the Eras Tour. U.S. Senate Dem leader calls for traditional process for confirming Trump nomineesThe decision by special counsel Jack Smith, who had fiercely sought to hold Mr Trump criminally accountable for his efforts to subvert the 2020 election, represented the end of the federal effort against the former president following his election victory this month despite the election-related cases and multiple other unrelated criminal charges against him. (AP) — San Francisco 49ers star running back Christian McCaffrey will not need surgery on his injured right knee but he will miss the rest of the regular season. Coach Kyle Shanahan said Monday that McCaffrey will be out at least six weeks after injuring his posterior cruciate ligament in a loss to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night . McCaffrey will be placed on injured reserve for the second time this season after previously missing the first eight games with Achilles tendinitis. “I just feel for him,” Shanahan said. “It was a real frustrating year for him. He worked his ass off to get back to this point and I think he was really feeling good and about to take off and just had that real unfortunate injury last night. I know he’s as crushed as anyone, but he’ll get through this. He’s a hell of a player, a hell of a person and an unbelievable 49er. He’ll be back stronger than ever next year to help us.” San Francisco (5-7) sits alone in last place in the NFC West standings, two wins behind division-leading Seattle, and in jeopardy of missing the playoffs a year after losing to Kansas City in the Super Bowl. The 49ers also lost McCaffrey's backup to an injury with Jordan Mason also set to go on injured reserve after suffering a high ankle sprain in the game against the Bills. It has been a frustrating season for McCaffrey, who won the 2023 AP Offensive Player of the Year then signed a lucrative contract extension in the offseason. San Francisco will now turn to rookie Isaac Guerendo and promote Patrick Taylor from the practice squad. Shanahan said the team will also look to add another running back to the mix. In other injury news from the game, defensive lineman Kevin Givens tore his pectoral muscle and will be out for the rest of the season. Shanahan said cornerback Deommodore Lenoir should be back at practice Wednesday after missing the game with a knee injury and that stars Nick Bosa (hip, oblique) and Trent Williams (ankle) will be evaluated as the week goes on. Bosa and Williams have both missed the last two games. Williams has also been dealing with family tragedy as his wife announced on Instagram that she gave birth to stillborn Trenton O’Brien Williams Jr. on Nov. 24. Several opposition MPs from Uttar Pradesh on Monday hit out at the state government and the ruling BJP over the violence in Sambhal, alleging it was planned to polarise people on communal lines. The Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Rae Bareli MP Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav, SP’s Azamgarh MP Dharmendra Yadav, Congress’s Saharanpur MP, and Azad Samaj Party (ASP) MP Chandra Shekhar Azad have attacked the government. They indicated that they will raise the issue in Parliament’s Winter Session which began on Monday. SP CHIEF BLAMES PETITIONER, ADMIN, GOVT In a statement, Akhilesh Yadav said: “Along with the petitioner, the administration and the government are responsible for the Sambhal incident. The officers responsible for the incident should be suspended. A murder case should be filed against them so that no one can carry out such anti-constitutional work in the future.” He added: “The police have fired from government and private weapons. The Samajwadi Party wanted to raise this issue in the Lok Sabha today but was not given a chance, when we get a chance, we will raise it in the House.” Akhilesh also said that a delegation of the Samajwadi Party will go to Sambhal and meet the victims’ kin. He further said, “A petition was filed in (the court of) civil judge, Chandausi, on 19.11.2024 regarding the Shahi Jama Masjid of Sambhal. The court ordered a survey without hearing the other side. After receiving the order, the district magistrate and superintendent of police of Sambhal reached Jama Masjid with the police for the survey within two hours without reading the order. The committee of Jama Masjid, Ulema Ikram, all the parties cooperated. When the survey was conducted for the first time on the orders of the court, everyone cooperated fully. After two and a half hours of survey, the district magistrate said that the survey is complete. Now, the survey report will be submitted to the court,” stated Akhilesh. Yadav “But on the night of November 23, the police administration said that there will be a survey again on the morning of 24th. When the survey was done once, then who ordered the survey again? The lawyer of Shahi Jama Masjid also said that when the survey was done once, then on whose orders will the survey be done again?” Yadav said. I request the Supreme Court to intervene in the matter as soon as possible and do justice,” Gandhi said. The business models of the two platforms, coupled with avalanches of digital or influencer advertising, have enabled them to give Western retailers a run for their money this holiday shopping season. A $2 eggshell opener, a portable apple peeler and an apple corer, both costing less than $5, are among the quirky, single-use kitchen tools taking up drawer space. But the Shein-focused content also includes videos of TikTokers saying they're embarrassed to admit they shopped there and critics lashing out at fans for not taking into account the environmental harms or potential labor abuses associated with products that are churned out and shipped worldwide at a speedy pace. Neville has already picked out holiday gifts for family and friends from the site. Most of the products in her online cart cost under $10, including graphic T-shirts she intends to buy for her son and jeans and loafers for her daughter. All told, she plans to spend about $200 on gifts, significantly less than $500 she used to shell out at other stores in prior years. “The visuals just make you want to spend more money,” she said, referring to the clothes on Shein's site. “They're very cheap and everything is just so cute.” Unlike Shein, Temu's appeal cuts across age groups and gender. The platform is the world’s second most-visited online shopping site, software company Similarweb reported in September. Customers go there looking for practical items like doormats and silly products like a whiskey flask shaped like a vintage cellphone from the 1990s. Temu advertised Black Friday bargains for some items at upwards of 70% off the recommended retail price. Making a purchase can quickly result in receiving dozens of emails offering free giveaways. The caveat: customers have to buy more products. Despite their rise, Temu and Shein have proven particularly ripe for pushback. Last year, a coalition of unnamed brands and organizations launched a campaign to oppose Shein in Washington. U.S. lawmakers also have raised the possibility that Temu is allowing goods made with forced labor to enter the country. More recently, the Biden administration put forward rules that would crack down on a trade rule known as the de minimis exception, which has allowed a lot of cheap products to come into the U.S. duty-free. President-elect Donald Trump is expected to slap high tariffs on goods from China, a move that would likely raise prices across the retail world.
