After Trump expressed renewed interest in Greenland on Dec. 22, Google search data shows there’s been a spike in searches about Trump’s statement and Greenland, including whether the territory is for sale. The agreement for independence ends with Denmark’s parliament approving the independence. Greenland would then become an independent nation. In response to Trump’s Dec. 22 Truth Social post, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen told ABC News the “Danish Government is looking forward to welcoming the new American ambassador. And the Government is looking forward to working with the new administration.” “In a complex security political situation as the one we currently experience, transatlantic cooperation is crucial. As far as statements about Greenland, the Prime Minister's Office has no comments other than reference to what was stated by the Premier of Greenland about Greenland not being for sale, but open for cooperation.” VERIFY reached out to the Danish prime minister’s office for comment, but did not hear back at the time of publication. Danish parliament member Rasmus Jarlov rejected Trump’s interest in purchasing Greenland in a post on X. “Greenland is Danish. It has been since 1380 and it will continue to be. This is undisputed, signed in rock in treaties and not open for negotiation. At all. Dictators threaten to take control over other countries' territory. Free democratic countries do not,” Jarlov said. The U.S’s interest in Greenland did not begin with Trump. YouTube first introduced its AI-powered auto-dubbing tool at Vidcon last year, which was only being tested with a limited group of creators. This tool could help make content on the platform more accessible and easier to understand for people all over the world. The auto-dubbing feature is now available to channels that are focused on informational content, such as videos that teach viewers how to cook or sew. It’ll expand availability to other types of content soon. To use the feature, simply upload a video as you normally would. YouTube will automatically detect the language and create dubbed versions in other languages. The tool supports English, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. YouTube’s auto-dubbing utilizes Google’s Gemini capabilities to replicate human speech. However, the company cautions that the feature may not perform perfectly, as the technology is still in its early stages of development. “We’re working hard to make it as accurate as possible, but there might be times when the translation isn’t quite right, or the dubbed voice doesn’t accurately represent the original speaker. Now it has come up with a CM Punjab Free Solar Panel Scheme, offering to install free of charge solar panels to consumers of 200 units or less, for whom 1100-Watt panels would be provided, while consumers of 100 units would receive 550-Watt panels. The first year of the scheme would benefit 100,000 consumers, compared to the 7.3 million consumers who benefited from the subsidy. It may been pointed out to the CM that subsidizing the consumer actually meant money being paid to the Independent Power Producers in capacity which had been shorn off the Punjab Budget, which meant that roads, schools or hospitals would not be built. It thus made more sense to put that money in solar generation so that the need for the subsidy could be eliminated. If baseline consumers could convert to solar power, the federal government would be relieved of the subsidy it is paying for them. It is assumed that the government will be picking up the cost of the green meter, which even baseline consumers will prefer, as the Scheme does not specify who is to pick up the cost. There will be an effort to avoid fraud, by linking the scheme to the consumer’s ID card, and the kit to be provided will not generate more power than is already used. However, the inventiveness of people’s minds is unlimited, and there will doubtless be frauds. Then there is the case of those consumers who may not be able to apply for the scheme, because while they consume units below the threshold, the cumulative bill of several consumers is above it. However, the Punjab government is showing a commendable commitment to solar power, it needs to beware that storage is presently inefficient, which means that consumers remain WAPDA consumers as well, but that is not permanent. When consumers start going entirely off the grid, the government has nothing to use for advance taxes. In fact, overusing the monthly power bill as a tool incentivizes going off-grid.
