New York, NY, Dec. 06, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Globalink Investment Inc. (Nasdaq: GLLI, GLLIW, GLLIR, GLLIU) (“ Globalink ” or the “ Company ”), a special purpose acquisition company, announced today that its stockholders approved amendments to its charter and trust agreement to extend the deadline to complete its initial business combination and change the structure and cost of such extensions. Under the amended charter, Globalink may extend the deadline to complete its initial business combination by up to six (6) monthly extensions, from December 9, 2024 to June 9, 2025 by depositing $60,000 into its trust account (the “ Trust Account ”) with Continental Stock Transfer and Trust Company (“ Continental ”). Globalink’s stockholders, at a special meeting of its stockholders held on December 3, 2024, approved an amendment to Globalink’s Amended and Restated Certificate of Incorporation, as amended (the “ Charter Amendment ”), and Globalink’s Investment Management Trust Agreement, as amended, originally entered into on December 6, 2021 with Continental (the “ Trust Agreement Amendment ”) to extend the deadline to complete Globalink’s initial business combination from December 9, 2024 to up to June 9, 2025 for up to six times of monthly extensions, by depositing into the Trust Account $60,000 prior to each one-month extension. The Charter Amendment triggered a right of Globalink’s public stockholders to demand the redemption of their public shares out of funds held in the Trust Account. Holders of 2,285,056 public shares properly requested redemption leaving 277,511 public shares outstanding. After payment of the redemption price to the redeeming public shareholders of approximately $11.77 per share for an aggregate of $26.89 million, Globalink will have approximately $3.27 million left in its Trust Account. As a consequence of the adoption of the Charter Amendment and the Trust Agreement Amendment and the redemptions, Globalink can now obtain up to six monthly extensions, or up until June 9, 2025, to complete its initial business combination at a cost of $60,000 per extension. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau flies to Florida to meet with Trump after tariffs threat WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has flown to Florida to have dinner with President-elect Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago club after Trump threatened to impose sweeping tariffs on Canadian products. Joining Trump and Trudeau at dinner were Trump's picks for commerce secretary, interior secretary and national security adviser, and the three men's wives. From the Canadian side, the dinner guests included Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc, whose responsibilities include border security. Trump’s transition did not respond to questions about what they had discussed or whether the conversation alleviated Trump’s concerns about the border. A smiling Trudeau declined comment upon returning to his West Palm Beach hotel late Friday. Emboldened 'manosphere' accelerates threats and demeaning language toward women after US election CHICAGO (AP) — An emboldened fringe of right-wing “manosphere” influencers has seized on Donald Trump’s presidential win to justify and amplify misogynistic derision and threats online. Many have appropriated a 1960s abortion rights rallying cry, declaring “Your body, my choice,” and have been using it publicly on college campuses and even in public schools. While none of the current online rhetoric is being amplified by Trump, experts say many young men see the former president’s return to the White House as vindication of their views on women. For many women, the words represent a worrying harbinger of what might lie ahead as some men perceive the election results as a rebuke of reproductive rights and women’s rights. Syrian insurgents are inside Aleppo in a major setback for Assad as government forces regroup BEIRUT (AP) — Thousands of Syrian insurgents have fanned out inside Syria's largest city Aleppo a day after storming it with little resistance from government troops. Syria's army said troops have redeployed to prepare for a counteroffensive. Witnesses said insurgents were seen Saturday at landmarks in Aleppo for the first time since 2016, when they were expelled by government forces backed by Russia and Iran. The surprise offensive is a major embarrassment for Syrian President Bashar Assad, who has regained total control of the city eight years ago. Israel says it struck Hezbollah weapons smuggling sites in Syria, testing a fragile ceasefire TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) — The Israeli military says its aircraft struck Hezbollah weapons smuggling sites along Syria’s border with Lebanon. The strike was the latest test of a fragile, days-old ceasefire that halted months of fighting between the sides but has seen continued sporadic fire. The military said it struck sites that had been used to smuggle weapons from Syria to Lebanon after the ceasefire took effect, which the military said was a violation of its terms. The Lebanese army had no immediate comment, although it has accused Israel of violating the terms of the truce. In Gaza, an Israeli strike on a car killed five people, according to a senior Palestinian health official. Fishers at a Lebanese port hope ceasefire with Israel means normal life is returning TYRE, Lebanon (AP) — The ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah brought hope for normality back to many in southern Lebanon on Friday. That includes fishers who’ve long launched their single-engine wooden boats into the Mediterranean at dawn. During the last two months, Israel imposed a siege that kept hundreds of fishers at this ancient Phoenician port on shore. That upended their lives in a major hit for the industry. The port siege also cut people off from the key ingredients for traditional Lebanese dishes. As war devastated their country, the loss of fish damaged a deep association with home. The possibility of renewed fishing is helping fuel hope. How Brazilian police say Bolsonaro plotted a coup to stay in office SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil’s Federal Police have formally accused former far-right President Jair Bolsonaro and 36 others of plotting a coup to keep him in office. The plot was allegedly comprised of several components and substantiated by evidence and testimony in the agency's 884-page report. The pieces of the puzzle include laying the groundwork by systematically sowing distrust of the electoral system among the populace. It also includes drafting a decree to give the plot a veneer of legal basis and pressuring top military brass to go along with the plan. Bolsonaro and his main allies have denied any wrongdoing or involvement and accuse authorities of political persecution. More than 100 arrested as Georgian police clash with protesters over suspension of EU talks TBILISI, Georgia (AP) — More than 100 demonstrators were arrested overnight in Georgia as protesters clashed with police following the government’s decision to suspend negotiations to join the European Union, the country’s Interior Ministry said. Friday marked the second straight night of protests after Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze of the country’s ruling Georgian Dream party announced the suspension the previous day. The Associated Press saw protesters in Tbilisi being chased and beaten by police as demonstrators rallied in front of the country's parliament building. The violence follows Georgian Dream’s disputed victory in the Oct. 26 election, which was widely seen as a referendum on the country’s aspirations to join the European Union. Romania's parliamentary vote risks being overshadowed by presidential race chaos BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) — Romanians are preparing to go to the polls in a parliamentary vote that will determine a new government and prime minister to lead the European Union and NATO member country. However, Sunday's vote is sandwiched between a two-round presidential race and is overshadowed by controversies and chaos following the outcome of the first vote. While the president has significant decision-making powers in areas such as national security and foreign policy, the prime minister is the head of the nation’s government. Sunday’s vote will determine the formation of the country’s 466-seat legislature. North Korea's Kim vows steadfast support for Russia’s war in Ukraine SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said his country will “invariably support” Russia’s war in Ukraine as he met Russia's visiting defense chief. A Russia military delegation led by Defense Minister Andrei Belousov arrived in North Korea on Friday as international concerns about the two countries’ expanding cooperation deepened after North Korea sent thousands of troops to Russia. During a Friday meeting, Kim and Belousov reached “a satisfactory consensus” on issues on how to further boost strategic partnership and defend each country’s sovereignty and security interests, state media said. Great Lakes, Plains and Midwest forecast to be hit with snow and dangerous cold into next week BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — The first big snow of the season has the potential to bury towns in New York along lakes Erie and Ontario during a hectic holiday travel and shopping weekend. Forecasters says winter storm conditions could persist into next week and cause hazards in the Great Lakes, Plains and Midwest regions. Forecasters predict 4 to 6 feet of blowing and drifting snow could fall in Watertown and other areas east of Lake Ontario through Monday. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has declared a disaster emergency in affected areas.ALLEN PARK — The Detroit Lions made a move on Tuesday that would have seemed incomprehensible just two seasons ago. The Lions waived edge rusher James Houston, who had one of the best rookie seasons (2022) for an edge rusher in recent memory but has not returned to that form since. Asked why it didn’t work out in Detroit, Lions head coach Dan Campbell said, “It just didn’t.” “It just didn’t. We had James up for a number of games, came back off of injury, got back, and it just never quite worked out,” Campbell said. Houston, a sixth-round pick by Detroit in 2022, collected eight sacks in seven games during his rookie season and appeared to have a limitless ceiling on what he could become as a pass rusher in the following seasons. But he appeared to fall out of favor with the coaching staff as early as 2023 training camp — Detroit was unsuccessfully trying to turn him into a well-rounded outside linebacker that could play every down — then broke an ankle in Week 2 of that season while playing on special teams. He didn’t return until the NFC Championship game, where he had limited snaps (11) and didn’t make an impact on the stat sheet. In training camp before this season, the Lions continued to try to improve other parts of Houston’s game but eventually gave up on the experiment, allowing him to just focus on rushing the passer. He has 13 pressures and just one sack in 2024, even with there being a clear vacancy on the edge following several key injuries. This time two years ago, Houston was getting called up from the practice squad to make his NFL debut against the Buffalo Bills on Thanksgiving Day. Houston dazzled in front of a national television audience , sacking Bills quarterback Josh Allen twice as Detroit took Buffalo to the wire in a 28-25 loss that came on a last-second field goal. Now, before the Lions’ Thanksgiving Day game in 2024, the Lions have decided to move on. Houston hinted at the potential parting with a cryptic social media post on Monday night. He posted on X (formerly Twitter), “Live... Learn.. Move on” with a peace sign emoji. “Look, wish him the best of luck, and sometimes you just need a fresh start and this could be great for him, so, wish him the best,” Campbell said. Houston, 26, is just the third Brad Holmes draft pick to no longer be on the active roster or practice squad (Antoine Green, Chase Lucas).Trump brings back government by social media

The No. 2-ranked bantamweight in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings , Nurmagomedov is arguably the deserving No. 1 contender for UFC champion Merab Dvalishvili . The undefeated Nurmagomedov has openly campaigned for the fight even as Dvalishvili has repeatedly dismissed him as a challenger , with Dvalishvili seemingly favoring matchups with Sean O’Malley and Petr Yan . On Saturday, Nurmagomedov posted an update on his status to social media, explaining that he is unable to compete in January due to an arm fracture, but that the injury is fine and he aims to compete soon. I had a small arm fracture and couldn’t perform in January. My arm is fine now, and I’m open to any offers. Anyone, Anywhere!! pic.twitter.com/6YXSXvaSTQ I had a small arm fracture and couldn’t perform in January. My arm is fine now, and I’m open to any offers. Anyone, Anywhere!! It’s unclear if Nurmagomedov was intended to be booked for the UFC’s January schedule, but regardless the update is a welcome one for fans wondering if Nurmagomedov is willing to fight again before facing Dvalishvili, or why Dvalishvili vs. Nurmagomedov hasn’t been mentioned as a potential headliner for UFC 311 in Los Angeles on Jan. 18. Related Nurmagomedov was rumored to be facing Song Yadong in December, though that matchup never materialized, and he has ruled out fighting Dvalishvili in March, the month of Ramadan. For now, it appears the rivals are nowhere close to being on the same page.

In court papers made public Tuesday, the Manhattan district attorney's office proposed an array of options for keeping the historic conviction on the books. The proposals include freezing the case until Trump is out of office, or agreeing that any future sentence wouldn't include jail time. Another idea: closing the case with a notation that acknowledges his conviction but says that he was never sentenced and his appeal wasn't resolved because of presidential immunity. The last is adopted from what some states do when a criminal defendant dies after being convicted but before appeals are exhausted. It is unclear whether that option is viable under New York law, but prosecutors suggested that Judge Juan M. Merchan could innovate in what's already a unique case. "This remedy would prevent defendant from being burdened during his presidency by an ongoing criminal proceeding," prosecutors wrote. But at the same time, it wouldn't "precipitously discard" the "meaningful fact that defendant was indicted and found guilty by a jury of his peers." Expanding on a position they laid out last month, prosecutors acknowledged that "presidential immunity requires accommodation during a president's time in office," but they were adamant that the conviction should stand. They argued that Trump's impending return to the White House should not upend a jury's finding. Trump wants the case to be thrown out in light of his election. His communications director, Steven Cheung, called prosecutors' filing "a pathetic attempt to salvage the remains of an unconstitutional and politically motivated hoax." Trump has fought for months to reverse his conviction on 34 counts of falsifying business records. Prosecutors said he fudged the documents to conceal a $130,000 payment to porn actor Stormy Daniels to suppress her claim that they had sex a decade earlier. Listen now and subscribe: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | RSS Feed | SoundStack | All Of Our Podcasts He claims they didn’t and denies wrongdoing. Trump portrays the case as a political attack ginned up by District Attorney Alvin Bragg and other Democrats. Trump's legal team argues that letting the case continue would present unconstitutional "disruptions" to his upcoming presidential term. Trump's attorneys also cited President Joe Biden's recent pardon of his son Hunter Biden, who was convicted of tax and gun charges. Biden complained that his son was unfairly prosecuted for political reasons — and Trump's lawyers say he was, too. Trump's lawyers argued that the possibility of a jail sentence — even if it's after he leaves office — would affect his presidency. Prosecutors suggested Merchan could address that concern by agreeing not to put him behind bars. It's unclear how soon Merchan could decide what to do next with the case. He could grant Trump's request for dismissal, go with one of the suggestions from prosecutors, wait until a federal appeals court rules on Trump's parallel effort to get the case moved out of state court, or choose some other option. Trump, a Republican, takes office Jan. 20. He was scheduled for sentencing late last month. After Trump's Nov. 5 election win, Merchan halted proceedings and indefinitely postponed the former and future president's sentencing so the defense and prosecution could weigh in on the future of the case. Merchan also delayed a decision on Trump's prior bid to dismiss the case on immunity grounds. A dismissal would erase Trump's conviction, sparing him the cloud of a criminal record and possible prison sentence. Trump is the first former president to be convicted of a crime and the first convicted criminal to be elected to the office. The hush money case was the only one of Trump's four criminal indictments to go to trial. Since the election, special counsel Jack Smith ended his two federal cases, which pertained to Trump's efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss and allegations that he hoarded classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate. A separate state election interference case in Fulton County, Georgia, is largely on hold. Trump denies wrongdoing in each case.Ladycats volleyball earns multiple All-District awards

What Ohio State’s Ryan Day said after his fourth straight loss to Michigan

The Ukrainian Defense Forces hit a radar station of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile system of Russian troops on the territory of the aggressor country. The strike took place on the night of November 24 in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation. This was officially announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Earlier, a video from near Kursk, where the "cotton" was seen at night, was posted online. According to the military, units of the missile forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, in cooperation with other components of the Defense Forces, launched a group strike on the positions of the enemy's anti-aircraft missile division in the Kursk region. It is subordinated to the 1490th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment of the 6th Army of the Russian Federation. A successful hit on a S-400 radar station was recorded there. It is emphasized that this unit of the Russian Armed Forces conducted combat operations in the "ground-to-ground" mode, that is, hit ground-based fixed targets. "Such attacks by Russian invaders mostly target civilian objects and civilians in the frontline regions of Ukraine," the General Staff explained. They added that the occupiers' military activities continue, so there will be more "cotton" to come. As a reminder, residents of the Kursk region of the Russian Federation began complaining about explosions on the evening of November 23, claiming an alleged attack by ATACMS missiles and UAVs. Russian authorities claimed that their air defense system "shot down 34" drones over a number of regions. The S-400 Triumph is a Russian long- and medium-range air defense missile system adopted by the Russian Armed Forces in 2007. The radar station is part of the SAM and operates in the X-band (8-12 GHz), with a maximum range of air targets detection of up to 300 km. The antenna array is made using AFAR technology, which provides high resolution and the ability for the enemy to quickly scan the airspace. The station is integrated into the overall control and monitoring system, so it can work together with other radar stations in the complex. Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Defense Forces have already hit more than one radar for Russian S-300/400 air defense systems. As reported by OBOZ.UA, The Wall Street Journal published a map of Russian military facilities that could be potential targets for Ukrainian strikes with ATACMS missiles. Among them are airports, ammunition depots, and Russian army headquarters. Only verified information is available on our Telegram channel OBOZ.UA and Viber .
