WASHINGTON − The Supreme Court is making it easier for people like Landon Eckard to watch what they do. In February, the North Carolina law student had gotten in line days early to make sure he could witness the justices debate whether Colorado could keep Donald Trump off the ballot. “Not a lot of people can say they’ve seen a landmark case and it’s going to be historic,” Eckard said of his willingness to spend two cold nights on the sidewalk. On Thursday, the court announced a pilot program for members of the public to enter a lottery to receive reserved seats in the court room for oral arguments or decision announcements. Related: $50 an hour to wait in line? How Trump's arraignment became a windfall for line-sitting gig workers Some public seats will still be available on a first-come, first-served basis. But anyone who receives a ticket through the lottery will be assured of a seat in advance. The deadline to enter is four weeks before the scheduled argument. Winners will be notified three weeks in advance. $50 an hour to wait in line? How Trump's arraignment became a windfall for line-sitting gig workers The first arguments available by lottery are for cases being heard in February. Those include whether Mexico can try to hold U.S. gunmakers liable for violence caused by Mexican drug cartels. The justices will also consider an Oho woman’s claims that she was passed over for a promotion and then demoted because she is heterosexual. Oral arguments can also be listened to through the court’s livestream . The justices have resisted allowing cameras in the court room.NoneVERMILLION — It was a regular season to remember for South Dakota football. With a 9-2 record, capped off by one of the most miraculous victories in the program’s history against North Dakota State, the Coyotes claimed their first Missouri Valley Football Conference title and the No. 4 seed in the FCS Playoffs. ADVERTISEMENT There were plenty of memorable moments throughout the season, but there were a few that really defined the Coyotes' season. Here are three of those season-defining moments ... So technically this play didn’t start the season. The USD defense actually got caught off guard against Northern State in the opening series of the season back on Aug. 29. The Wolves stormed down the field and scored a field goal to go up 3-0 in the first quarter. However, Keyondray Jones-Logan was about to make the first big play of the season. As Northern State kicked it off, Jones-Logan fielded the kick at the three-yard line and proceeded to turn on the afterburners. After evading a few defenders, he was free and took it 97 yards for the return touchdown. It put the Coyotes up 7-3 as they went on to claim victory over the Wolves in the season-opener 45-3. It was the first of two kickoff return touchdowns from Jones-Logan in the regular season and sent a message to the rest of the country of the deadly weapon USD possessed. The message mostly got through too as he didn’t get many more opportunities during the season to field kickoffs as teams either went away from him or kicked it out of the back of the end zone. Regardless, it was a tone-setter, not only in the season-opener but for the rest of the season that the Coyotes were ready to put the country on notice. The Coyotes needed a play and needed a play in the worst way in Brookings. In the most recent edition of the Interstate Series, things had just gone about as wrong as they could have for the Coyotes. Trailing 14-7 with 4:57 left in the game, USD was driving. On the Jacks’ 10-yard line, Aidan Bouman handed off to Travis Theis, who looked back to Bouman as he began a route out to the right side. However, Theis threw an interception on the play as SDSU took all the momentum USD had built over the offensive series. ADVERTISEMENT Suddenly, the Jacks had the chance to run the clock and claim victory if the Coyotes couldn’t come up with some type of game-altering play. Enter Dennis Shorter. Mark Gronowski handed off to Angel Johnson on a fairly simple halfback draw. Shorter charged out of the secondary and put his helmet right on the ball. It launched backward out of Johnson’s arms and was up for grabs as it rolled. Mi’Quise Grace picked it up and ran it in for the game-tying touchdown. No, USD did not go on to beat SDSU as the Coyotes fell in heartbreaking fashion 20-17 in overtime. However, this was the game that truly put the FCS on notice. USD walked into Brookings and was only a play or two away from winning. It cemented the Coyotes as legitimate contenders for a National Championship and Shorter’s forced fumble was the highlight of the night. Was there ever any doubt that this would be the ultimate defining moment of the season? Just a few minutes early, the Coyotes were all but dead in the water. North Dakota State just finished off a back-breaking 20-play, 99-yard touchdown drive that took almost 11 minutes off the clock. The Bison went up 28-17 with just under five minutes to go and hope of a victory seemed all but lost. But there was some magic in the air. USD went on a quick touchdown drive to make it a one-possession game with the Bison leading 28-23. After the defense forced a punt deep in NDSU’s own territory, the stage was set for what would be one of the most memorable drives in USD history. The first big play from Phelps came a few plays before the game-winning catch. Phelps made a miraculous 23-yard catch along the sideline that was originally ruled incomplete. After further review though, Phelps somehow tapped a toe despite actively being pushed out-of-bounds. The catch set the Coyotes up at the Bison 25-yard line. ADVERTISEMENT But Bouman took a sack two plays later and the clock was ticking. However, the hurry from USD to the line caused the NDSU defense a bit of confusion. And, well, Phelps explained what he saw on the very next play. “It was a scramble to get back to the line of scrimmage,” he said. “If you’ve seen the play, it was kind of a busted coverage because whenever you watch the tape, the corner overlapped that the slot receiver. And I was just open from there. I couldn’t believe [I was that open].” Phelps found himself with no defender near him as Bouman delivered a pass at the four-yard line. Phelps all but walked it in as USD went up 29-28. NDSU couldn’t deliver a miracle lateral play with just a few seconds left as the Coyotes clinched their first conference title in school history. It was the defining moment of the season. However, if you ask those around the program, they hope it’s not the ultimate defining moment as the Coyotes aim to accomplish even more in the playoffs on the road to Frisco.

Celtic drew at home with Club Brugge. Alexis Mac Allister and substitute Cody Gakpo got the goals as Liverpool beat Champions League holders Real Madrid 2-0 at Anfield to make it five wins from as many games in the league phase for Arne Slot’s men. The Reds took the lead when Mac Allister played a one-two with Conor Bradley and slotted past Thibaut Courtois seven minutes into the second half. Real had the chance to equalise with a penalty just past the hour, but Kylian Mbappe saw his strike saved by Caoimhin Kelleher. There was then an unsuccessful spot-kick from the hosts as Mohamed Salah missed from 12 yards, before Gakpo popped up with a 76th-minute header from Andy Robertson’s cross as the Merseysiders recorded a first win over Real in 15 years and gained some revenge for their defeats in the 2018 and 2022 finals. While Liverpool top the table, Carlo Ancelotti’s Real are down in 24th place – the final play-offs berth – with just six points from their five matches. Aston Villa are outside the top eight on goal difference after a 0-0 draw with Juventus in which Morgan Rogers had a stoppage-time finish for the hosts ruled out for a foul, with Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez having earlier made a fantastic save to deny Francisco Conceicao. Celtic, lying 20th, drew 1-1 at home with Club Brugge thanks to a curling Daizen Maeda strike that cancelled out a remarkable own goal by Cameron Carter-Vickers, who passed back without looking to send the ball into the net. Borussia Dortmund moved into the top eight with 3-0 win at Dinamo Zagreb, where Jamie Gittens, Ramy Bensebaini and Serhou Guirassy got on the scoresheet. Monaco dropped to eighth after suffering their first loss of the league phase, 3-2 at home to Benfica. Despite having Wilfried Singo sent off just prior to the hour mark, the French side took the lead for a second time via Soungoutou Magassa in the 67th minute, only for late goals from Arthur Cabral and Zeki Amdouni to give Benfica all three points. Lille, in 12th, have the same amount of points as Monaco and Villa thanks to a 2-1 win at Bologna, with Ngal’Ayel Mukau notching a brace. PSV Eindhoven, now 18th, produced a dramatic late turnaround to beat 10-man Shakhtar Donetsk 3-2 at home. The visitors led 2-0 through Danylo Sikan and Oleksandr Zubkov before having Pedrinho sent off in the 69th minute, and PSV then hit back with three goals in the closing stages, Malik Tilman scoring in the 87th and 90th and Ricardo Pepi then notching the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time. Sean 'Diddy' Combs denied bail a third time as he awaits sex trafficking trial NEW YORK (AP) — Sean “Diddy” Combs has been denied bail as he awaits a May sex trafficking trial. U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian made the decision in a written ruling Wednesday. The decision follows a bail hearing last week. The hip-hop mogul's lawyers say a $50 million bail package they proposed is sufficient to ensure Combs doesn't flee and doesn't pester prospective witnesses. Two judges previously had been persuaded by prosecutors' arguments that Combs was a danger to the community if he is not behind bars. Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges lodged against him when he was arrested in September. Federal court dismisses defamation lawsuit against Fox News for Jan. 6 conspiracy theory CROTON, N.Y. (AP) — A federal judge has dismissed a defamation lawsuit against Fox News brought by a former Marine and Trump supporter who claimed he was made a scapegoat by the network after the Jan. 6, 2021, U.S. Capitol insurrection. Raymond Epps, whose claims against Fox were featured in a “60 Minutes” segment, said the network's false reports subjected him and his wife to death threats and forced them to move from their Arizona home. Under the false theory, Epps was a government agent in Washington that day trying to stir up trouble that would later be blamed on Donald Trump fans. Northern lights may be faintly visible across parts of the US this Thanksgiving NEW YORK (AP) — Solar storms may produce faint auroras across the northern rim of the United States this Thanksgiving. Pale auroras may be seen Thursday and Friday across northern states including Montana, Minnesota and upper New York — as well as much of Minnesota, Montana, Wisconsin and Michigan. NOAA meteorologist Matt Bettwy says the auroras may last only briefly, and seeing them will depend on how intense the solar storms get. To spy the spectacle, wait for clear skies to get dark and then go outside away from bright city lights. Taking a picture with a smartphone camera may also reveal hints of the aurora that aren’t visible to the naked eye. NBC honors John Madden on Thanksgiving by taking the original Madden Cruiser on one last trip John Madden’s love of football and family came through the most on Thanksgiving. On Thursday, NBC will continue to honor Madden’s legacy when it opens its broadcast before the nightcap between the Miami Dolphins and Green Bay Packers. The two-minute open features the original Madden Cruiser traveling from the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, to Lambeau Field last week. It has remained in Green Bay and will also be featured during the game. Madden will be honored during all three games on Thursday. It is the third year the NFL has had the “John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration” after the Hall of Fame coach and iconic broadcaster died in December 2021. Landmark fish and meat markets in London to close, ending 1,000 years of tradition LONDON (AP) — Two of London’s most famous markets — one selling fish, the other meat — are set to close in the coming years, bringing an end to traditions stretching back to medieval times. On Wednesday, The City of London Corporation, the governing body in the capital city’s historic hub, is set to present a bill to Parliament to bring an end to its responsibilities to operate the Billingsgate fish market and the Smithfield meat market, both of which have existed in some shape or form since the 11th century. That comes a day after the corporation decided not to relocate the markets to a new development just east of London in Dagenham. What stores are open on Thanksgiving? Not many since most stay closed to prepare for Black Friday WASHINGTON (AP) — With Thanksgiving and the formal launch of the holiday shopping season, Americans will again be consumed with the annual trifecta of turkey, travel and transactions — lots of them. Most national grocery store chains are open on Thursday for last-minute needs, although many close early. Most big U.S. retailers are closed on Thanksgiving Day, either giving their staffs the day off or preparing for Black Friday. Many will open early on the day after Thanksgiving, which is typically the biggest shopping day of the year but has lost some of its frantic energy as more customers look for gifts online. Hyundai recalling over 226,000 cars and SUVs to fix rearview cameras that can fail DETROIT (AP) — Hyundai is recalling more than 226,000 SUVs and small cars in the U.S. because the rearview camera image may not show up on the screens. The recall covers certain Santa Fe and Elantra vehicles from the 2021 and 2022 model years. Hyundai says in documents posted Wednesday by U.S. safety regulators that solder joints on a printed circuit board in can develop cracks that can worsen over time and cause the cameras to fail. That can reduce visibility and increase the risk of injury to pedestrians. Dealers will replace the cameras at no cost to owners, who will be notified by letters starting Jan. 19. Some of those Ocean Spray cranberries come from a bog in Massachusetts MIDDLEBORO, Mass. (AP) — Weeks before Thanksgiving, some of the cranberries that will be on dinner plates Thursday were floating on a bog in Massachusetts. The cranberries have turned this pond in coastal Massachusetts a bright color of pinkish crimson. Several workers, up to their waist in water, gently corral the berries towards to a hose that suctions them up into a truck where they are transported to factories that dry them or turn them into sauce or juice. This bog is one of nearly 300 in Massachusetts that cover some 14,000 acres. This year, Massachusetts farmers are projected to produce 2.2 million barrels of cranberries, an increase of 12% over last year. Drake makes another legal move against Universal over Kendrick Lamar diss track 'Not Like Us' Drake has taken legal action against Universal Music Group for the second straight day in his feud with fellow hip-hop superstar Kendrick Lamar. The new filing in Texas alleges that UMG, the parent company of the labels for both artists, engaged in pay-to-play to get radio air time for the Lamar diss track “Not Like Us.” The song from earlier this year viciously attacks Drake, who says in the court petition that he could file a defamation lawsuit. UMG did not immediately reply to a request for comment. After a similar filing in New York on Monday, the company called Drake's allegations “offensive and untrue.” Harvey Weinstein files legal claim alleging lack of medical care and hygiene at Rikers Island jail NEW YORK (AP) — Harvey Weinstein’s lawyers have filed a legal claim against New York City over allegedly substandard medical treatment and unhygienic conditions. The notice of legal claim filed Tuesday says the 72-year-old former film mogul has been denied medical care while jailed at the city's notorious Riker's Island jail complex. An appeals court has issued a ruling nullifying his 2020 rape conviction in New York, but he faces a retrial. He has denied any wrongdoing. The claim seeks $5 million in damages for mistreatment. Weinstein’s eponymous film production company went into bankruptcy proceedings after his convictions. The Apprentice star also argued that a lack of clarity from the Government on the ownership test is causing “significant uncertainty” for potential investors. This came as the House of Lords continued its scrutiny of the Football Governance Bill, which seeks to establish an independent regulator for the top five tiers of the men’s game. In the upper chamber, Baroness Brady said: “We are creating legislation which will profoundly affect 160 quite unique institutions, from Premier League clubs through to the National League community clubs, but it is important for everyone to understand that the consultation with these affected businesses by the current Government has been remarkably limited, almost unbelievably so. “Just seven Premier League clubs, I was one of them, was granted a brief half-hour meeting with the Secretary of State over the summer. “And following this cursory engagement, significant decisions were made that could fundamentally affect the future of English football, most notably with the inclusion of parachute payments within the backstop mechanism. “This is particularly concerning given that fundamental issues still remained unresolved, we still lack any clarity on Uefa’s position on state interference, for example, this clearly creates profound uncertainty for clubs competing in or aspiring to European competition, as well as our national teams.” “We don’t know what the ownership test will look like, this causes significant uncertainty for potential investors as to whether they are able to own a club,” she added. Lady Brady continued: “I have spoken to many of my colleagues across all of the football pyramid, we are all alarmed about and puzzled by the lack of discussion on the Bill with ministers. “Would the minister agree that we all want to get the detail of this Bill right? And can she see any downsides to providing meaningful opportunities to hear from all clubs across the football pyramid affected by the legislation?” Prior to this, Tory shadow sports minister Lord Parkinson of Whitley Bay had tabled an amendment which he said would allow clubs to “make their views known on this legislation” by including specific competitions on the face of the Bill. Labour frontbencher Baroness Twycross told the upper chamber: “I don’t think the leagues are confused either on which leagues this legislation will apply to.” She added: “This power is both reasonable and the result of evidence-based consultation with all key stakeholders in the industry. “This power ensures that the competitions in scope can be amended in a timely manner and ensures the scope of the regime remains relevant.” The peer later said: “Over the past three years there have been countless opportunities for all affected and interested parties to make representations.” Lady Brady also raised concerns about the financial distribution backstop, which she said is “clearly designed as a mechanism to gain direct access to, and apportionate Premier League revenue, and no-one else’s”. “I might add the backstop will allow the IFR (Independent Football Regulator) to do this even if it was against the Premier League clubs’ will, or even without the clubs’ agreement, even if it was to have a detrimental effect on the clubs and the overall competition it removes revenue from,” she added. The backstop would allow the new IFR to intervene in the distribution of Premier League broadcast revenue down the leagues as a last resort. It could be triggered by the Premier League, English Football League (EFL) or National League to mediate the fair financial distribution of this revenue if they are not able to come to an agreement. Conservative peers later raised concerns over the cost implications to clubs of establishing the regulator, although they faced claims of “filibustering” – wasting time by making overlong speeches in a bid to delay progress. Labour peer Lord Watson of Invergowrie questioned why Lord Parkinson was showing “confected outrage” at the Bill when the former culture minister would have been defending a similar proposal had the Tories remained in power. Lord Parkinson, in his reply, said: “We want to see this regulator established, we want to see it doing its work and doing so effectively, but we also see before us a Bill that is different because of the election that was called and the result that happened, and we’re interrogating particularly closely the changes that the Government have made to the Bill – of which there are many. “And we have more concerns on these benches than we did before the election from my colleagues behind me about the way we do it.” The Tory peer pointed to Labour frontbenchers fulfilling their duties to “properly scrutinise” then-government legislation when they were on the opposition benches. Lady Twycross, in an intervention, said: “While I agree that (Lord Parkinson) is correct that I would scrutinise legislation when I was sitting on those (opposition) benches, I have never sought to filibuster a Bill to which my party had committed, which my party had laid before Parliament, and intended to filibuster it to the point of getting us stuck in treacle.” Lord Parkinson replied: “That is not what we’re doing.” Niall Couper, chief executive of the campaign group Fair Game, wrote on social media site X: “Watching opposition benches blatantly filibustering to destroy the Football Governance Bill is nothing short of sporting vandalism.”

A California Walmart employee's decision to work on a holiday led to her winning $1 million. On Labor Day Rebecca Gonzalez had the federal holiday off and was excited to grill with her loved ones. “I wanted to obviously be home with my family because we planned to barbecue,” Gonzalez told the California Lottery. But her life would change forever when she did a solid for her employer, even though she did not really want to. Her short shift was busy so it slipped her mind to purchase a lottery ticket on her break, but when she clocked out she remembered after she passed by a row of California Lottery vending machines. California man claims he hasn't been paid $44 MILLION lottery prize months after winning Illinois Lottery player snags $10M jackpot prize on $50 scratch-off ticket “I didn’t remember I was going to buy a Scratchers [ticket] until I left for the night and passed by the machines,” she said. She stopped, put in $10, and received a Single Double Triple Scratchers game. The odds— 2,057,388 to 1 to be exact — that her $10 investment would win her the game’s $1 million grand prize were low, but she defied them. “I couldn’t believe it,” Gonzalez said. Gonzalez has used her winnings to pay off all of her debt, and she told the California Lottery that she and her husband are in the process of closing on a new home. But the money has not changed Gonzalez, she still clocks in at the Walmart in the City of Industry. In fact she hasn't even told her coworkers about her new fortune, except the one partially responsible for her win. “I’ve only told one person at work,” Gonzalez said. “It was the manager who wanted me to stay late on a holiday.” The Walmart where Gonzalez works received a $5,000 payout from the state lottery for selling the winning ticket, officials said. Gonzalez wasn’t the only recent big winner in the California Lottery. Three players also won jackpots playing the $1 Million Ultimate Cash Scratchers game. Wayne Sims purchased his ticket in San Francisco; Alex Vela bought one at Circus Liquors in North Hollywood and Robert Befriends purchased his winning ticket from Palma Liquor in La Palma, KTLA.com reported. A 7-Eleven in Burbank also sold a $1 million-winning Multiplier Craze Scratchers ticket to R. Abrahamian. It would be similarly disappointing if any of the coaches at Boise State , Indiana or Arizona State end up celebrating a title with confetti falling all around them inside Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Texas has attracted a lot of money all season to go all the way, but those other schools provide the hope of a big payoff. The fifth-seeded Longhorns are the co-favorite at BetMGM with No. 1 and unbeaten Oregon at 7-2 odds; the other three are least 40-1, while Georgia is right behind Oregon and Texas as the next favorite. “These teams get hot and people just want to have a flyer on them,” BetMGM trading manager Seamus Magee said. “They don’t want to be standing there and not have a ticket on some of these long-shot teams.” Expanding the playoff field from four to 12 teams this year meant more betting in general on college football and more varieties of wagering on the postseason. There were meaningful games played in the final month by not only Arizona State, Boise State and Indiana, but also SMU, Army and UNLV — a number of teams not always in the national title conversation. “It’s one of the highest handles we’ve ever had on our national-championship market,” Magee said. “We’re in more states, for one, but the activity and the betting patterns we’re seeing, it definitely feels a lot more than it has in years past.” Magee said BetMGM has received action on both sides of the first-round game between 11th-seeded SMU and sixth-seeded Penn State , but the Mustangs have drawn notable action at DraftKings and Caesars Sportsbook. Money on SMU dropped Penn State from a 9-point favorite at DraftKings to 8 1/2. “Any time they’ve played a real good team, they’ve had trouble,” Johnny Avello, DraftKings race and sports operations director, said of the Nittany Lions. ”SMU shows that they’re pretty good on both sides of the football and pretty resilient as a team. Always in the game. Always finds ways to fight back.” Joey Feazel, who oversees football trading for Caesars, said much of the early betting in general was on underdogs. “Usually, you see the dog money for these teams come late, especially on the sharps' (professional bettors) side,” Feazel said. Boise State, which as the third seed has a first-round bye, will be the underdog in its quarterfinal matchup with Penn State or SMU. The Broncos got into the field as the highest-ranked Group of Five champion, but Avello said that doesn’t mean they are one of the nation’s top 12 teams (they are ranked No. 8 by AP and No. 9 by CFP). Avello said BYU, Colorado and Miami — none of which made the playoff — all would be favored over them. “There are a lot of teams that aren’t in the playoffs that would be favored,” Avello said. “That’s just not the way these playoffs work.” Feazel said Boise State not being able to play at home on its blue carpet will be a notable disadvantage. Boise State’s quarterfinal game will be at the Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona. “It will be all neutral,” Feazel said. ”It’s a big step up in class for Boise.” Instead of all the games being played in climate-controlled domes or warm-weather locales — as has been in the case in past postseasons — three of the four first-round matchups will take place in the Northeast and Midwest. While that might not make a difference when Notre Dame hosts in-state foe Indiana, Ohio State will be at home against Tennessee and SMU visits Penn State. BetMGM favors all four home teams by more than a touchdown. “You have to take the weather into account for some of these games,” Magee said. “It’s going to be really cool to see a team like Tennessee that will have to go up to Columbus, where it can get really cold. SMU has to go from Dallas to Happy Valley. That’s definitely going to be one of the coldest games a lot of those kids have played in their lives.” SMU was the last team in the field , getting the benefit of the doubt over Alabama. The Mustangs had one fewer defeat than the three-loss Crimson Tide, who did not appear in the SEC title game. SMU lost on a 56-yard field goal to Clemson in the ACC championship. The sportsbook operators said the Tide would be favored by 5-10 points if they met SMU on a neutral field. Get poll alerts and updates on the AP Top 25 throughout the season. Sign up here . Ex-Colorado footballer Bloom dedicates time to fulfilling wishes for older adults

The normally reliable centre-back passed the ball into his own net in the 26th minute after failing to spot goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s positioning. But a brilliant turn and finish on the hour mark from Daizen Maeda changed the game and ultimately earned the Scottish champions a 1-1 home draw. On the opener, Rodgers said: “Mistakes happen and it was just unfortunate. He’s played that pass a million times and it’s gone back and then we’ve been able to play forward. It was just one of those unfortunate moments in the game that happens. “But he’s a really, really tough character. He’s a great guy, he picked himself up. He was really strong and aggressive again in the game and got on with it and had a real bravery in the second half, because he was the one carrying the ball forward for us to start the attack.” Despite the gift, Brugge were worthy of their lead and Rodgers admitted his side were too passive in their pressing in the opening half. Some tactical tweaks – and the introduction of Paulo Bernardo – helped Celtic dominate after Maeda’s equaliser, although Brugge had a goal disallowed for a marginal offside. “I can only credit the players for the second half, because we had to fight,” Rodgers said. “And we’re still one of those teams that’s really pushing to try and make a mark at this level. So to make the comeback, score the goal, play with that courage, I was so pleased. “You want to win but I’ve been here enough times to have lost a game like that, but we didn’t. We showed a real strong mentality and we kept pushing right to the very end and the players did well. “I thought they showed great courage in the second half because we weren’t at our level in the first half. Sometimes a game like that can get away from you, but it didn’t. “We stayed with it, showed that determination, showed that mentality, never to quit, to keep going. And then we were much, much better, much freer in the second half. “So we’re on eight points, nine to play for. We’re still very much on course to get to where we want to get to and still three games to go.” Rodgers added: “It’s 20 games now and we’ve won 16 and drawn three and lost one, so it shows you the mentality is there, and especially at this level, you need to have that.”

DENVER (AP) — Amid renewed interest in the killing of JonBenet Ramsey triggered in part by a new Netflix documentary, police in Boulder, Colorado, refuted assertions this week that there is viable evidence and leads about the 1996 killing of the 6-year-old girl that they are not pursuing. JonBenet Ramsey, who competed in beauty pageants, was found dead in the basement of her family’s home in the college town of Boulder the day after Christmas in 1996. Her body was found several hours after her mother called 911 to say her daughter was missing and a ransom note had been left behind. The details of the crime and video footage of JonBenet competing in pageants propelled the case into one of the highest-profile mysteries in the United States. The police comments came as part of their annual update on the investigation, a month before the 28th anniversary of JonBenet’s killing. Police said they released it a little earlier due to the increased attention on the case, apparently referring to the three-part Netflix series “Cold Case: Who Killed JonBenet Ramsey.” In a video statement, Boulder Police Chief Steve Redfearn said the department welcomes news coverage and documentaries about the killing of JonBenet, who would have been 34 this year, as a way to generate possible new leads. He said the department is committed to solving the case but needs to be careful about what it shares about the investigation to protect a possible future prosecution. “What I can tell you though, is we have thoroughly investigated multiple people as suspects throughout the years and we continue to be open-minded about what occurred as we investigate the tips that come into detectives," he said. The Netflix documentary focuses on the mistakes made by police and the “media circus” surrounding the case. JonBenet was bludgeoned and strangled. Her death was ruled a homicide, but nobody was ever prosecuted. Police were widely criticized for mishandling the early investigation into her death amid speculation that her family was responsible. However, a prosecutor cleared her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, and brother Burke in 2008 based on new DNA evidence from JonBenet's clothing that pointed to the involvement of an “unexplained third party” in her slaying. The announcement by former district attorney Mary Lacy came two years after Patsy Ramsey died of cancer. Lacy called the Ramseys “victims of this crime.” John Ramsey has continued to speak out for the case to be solved. In 2022, he supported an online petition asking Colorado’s governor to intervene in the investigation by putting an outside agency in charge of DNA testing in the case. In the Netflix documentary, he said he has been advocating for several items that have not been prepared for DNA testing to be tested and for other items to be retested. He said the results should be put through a genealogy database. In recent years, investigators have identified suspects in unsolved cases by comparing DNA profiles from crime scenes and to DNA testing results shared online by people researching their family trees. In 2021, police said in their annual update that DNA hadn’t been ruled out to help solve the case, and in 2022 noted that some evidence could be “consumed” if DNA testing is done on it. Last year, police said they convened a panel of outside experts to review the investigation to give recommendations and determine if updated technologies or forensic testing might produce new leads. In the latest update, Redfearn said that review had ended but that police continue to work through and evaluate a “lengthy list of recommendations” from the panel.
