Three passes netted only 1 yard and another drop-back, on third-and-3, turned into a 23-yard loss on a sack. Which then became a missed field goal from 48 yards out. “Yeah, (there) was nothing that we did great tonight,” Shedeur reflected after the game. “Ditto,” his father replied. So how much of that was on Shurmur and how much was on No. 2? We’re about to find out. If BYU reminded Buffs fans of anything at the Alamodome, besides pain, it was the power of balance. The Cougars won almost every battle along the line of scrimmage, then ran away — BYU went for 180 on the ground, with 6-foot-2 hammer LJ Martin accounting for 93 of those — and hid. Salter or Lewis could sure use a Martin of their own, at least in the short term. “They did a wonderful job,” the elder Sanders said late Saturday night when asked about his coordinators. “I’m proud of them. I love them for life. They know how to communicate with all our young men. They really put them in positions for them to be extremely successful. And I love what we had. I’m proud of those two.” One of the worst-kept secrets in BoCo is that Shedeur had more or less been CU’s de facto play-caller since his arrival. With Sean Lewis, it didn’t take. With Shurmur, it improved. After a few roster overhauls via the transfer portal, it clicked. The good far outweighed the bad. But Shurmur doesn’t have a top-5 pick pulling the strings now, nor a Heisman Trophy winner in Travis Hunter who could out-leap double teams and out-run entire defenses. Nobody’s seen a Coach Prime offense in college without Shedeur running it. Which makes Shurmur one of the more pivotal, and fascinating, storylines of the winter and spring prep to come. How much power will the OC really have in the post-Shedeur Era? Will he adapt his pro-style proclivities to better fit Salter or Lewis? Will he be flexible enough to sprinkle in more option or zone-read looks, the way BYU did with its quarterback, Jake Retzlaff, a dangerous, instinctive runner but a wildly inconsistent passer? If asked to meet in the middle, to compromise, can he get there? “We’ve established expectation,” Coach Prime said after the game. “So now you expect us to perform a certain way. You expect us to win. You expect us to be exciting. You expect us to (be) a lot more disciplined than we’ve displayed (Saturday). You just have expectations of us now. That’s what we’ve established.” Sure have. But the only thing harder than dragging a program to elevation is keeping it there. Emanuel Wallace, 27, from east London, is better known as Big Manny by his 1.9 million followers on TikTok, where he shares videos explaining various science experiments from his back garden while using Jamaican Patois phrases and London slang. In early December, Mr Wallace won the Education Creator of the Year award at the TikTok Awards ceremony, which he said is a “symbol that anything that you put your mind to you can achieve”. The content creator began making videos during the coronavirus pandemic when schools turned to online learning but has since expanded his teaching from videos to paper after releasing his debut book Science Is Lit in August. He believes his “unconventional” teaching methods help to make his content relatable for younger audiences by using slang deriving from his Jamaican and British heritage. “The language that I use, it’s a combination between Jamaican Patois and London slang because I have Jamaican heritage,” the TikToker, who holds a bachelors and masters degree in biomedical science, told the PA news agency. “That’s why in my videos sometimes I might say things like ‘Wagwan’ or ‘you dun know’. I just want to connect with the young people more, so I speak in the same way that they speak. “The words that I use, the way that I deliver the lesson as well, I would say that my method of teaching is quite unconventional. I speak in a way that is quite conversational.” Examples of his videos include lithium batteries catching fire after being sandwiched inside a raw chicken breast, as well as mixing gold with gallium to create blue gold, earning millions of views. Mr Wallace hopes his content will help make the science industry more diverse, saying “the scientists that I was taught about, none of them look like me”. “Now me being a scientist is showing young people that they can become one as well, regardless of the background that they come from, the upbringing that they’ve had,” he said. “I just want to make it seem more attainable and possible for them because if I can do it, and I come from the same place as you, there’s no reason why you can’t do it as well.” The TikToker has seen a shift in more young people turning to the app as a learning resource and feels short-form videos will soon become a part of the national curriculum in schools. “I’m seeing (young people) using that a lot more – social media as a resource for education – and I feel like in the future, it’s going to become more and more popular as well,” he said. “I get a lot of comments from students saying that my teacher showed my video in the classroom as a resource, so I feel like these short form videos are going to be integrated within the national curriculum at some point in the near future.” He also uses his platform to raise awareness of different social issues, which he said is “extremely important”. One of his videos highlighted an anti-knife campaign backed by actor Idris Elba, which earned more than 39 million views, while his clip about the banning of disposable vapes was viewed more than 4.6 million times. He said there is some pressure being a teacher with a large following online but hopes he can be a role model for young people. “I’m aware that I am in the public eye and there’s a lot of young people watching me,” he said. “Young people can be impressionable, so I make sure that I conduct myself appropriately, so that I can be a role model. “I always have the same message for young people, specifically. I tell them to stay curious. Always ask questions and look a little bit deeper into things.” His plans for 2025 include publishing a second Science Is Lit book and expanding his teaching to television where he soon hopes to create his own science show.

PARAMEDICS assessed four people for injuries and traffic banked up for kilometres after a two-car crash near Raymond Terrace. Login or signup to continue reading Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway at Kings Hill, north of the notorious Hexham traffic pinch point, just after 9.30am on Friday, December 27. A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said crews were called to reports two cars had collided, causing one to roll. Paramedics remained at the scene at about 10.30am but were expecting to transport one patient to hospital for further treatment. All were believed to have suffered minor injuries. The crash closed one northbound lane and one southbound lane of the Pacific Highway while emergency services worked. Both lanes had reopened by about 11am. The closures and heavy holiday traffic created chaos for travellers in the area this morning. Traffic was banked up near the crash site from Kings Hill to past Raymond Terrace but was beginning to ease by about 11am. A Live Traffic NSW alert on Friday morning warned drivers should expect significant delays northbound on the M1 from Black Hill Road along John Renshaw Drive and the New England Highway to the Hexham bridge. Traffic had eased by about 10.45am. Northbound travellers between Heatherbrae, Hexham and Beresfield could expect significant delays throughout the festive season , Live Traffic NSW warned. Lucknow: In a step towards using advanced technology in managing its day-to-day affairs, UP State Road Transport Corporation ( UPSRTC ) plans to install AI-based cameras in its buses to monitor the number of passengers boarding them every day. This initiative will help reduce pilferage of revenue through ticketing, besides offering multiple benefits. The corporation already uses Electronic Ticketing Machines (ETMs), introduced about ten years ago. These machines print real-time tickets and prevent any possible fudging of revenue, which was possible with manual ticketing. However, the ETMs do not count the number of passengers boarding buses. AI-based cameras will address this issue. The cameras will be connected to the centralised command control centre at the UPSRTC headquarters. The project will be cost-intensive, considering that AI-based cameras will need cloud connectivity and storage, which may cost as much as the equipment itself. The corporation is planning to seek funds from the govt. "We may not implement it for all of our buses at once, but introduce it as a pilot project, maybe for a select route," said GM (IT), UPSRTC, Yazuvendra Kumar. Once implemented, UPSRTC will be the first among the state road transport corporations to do so. The corporation currently has a fleet of 11,000 buses.
