Daily Post Nigeria Police bust 3-member robbery gang in Adamawa Home News Politics Metro Entertainment Sport News Police bust 3-member robbery gang in Adamawa Published on December 5, 2024 By Jim Ochetenwu Police operatives in Adamawa State have busted a three-member robbery gang. The Adamawa State Police Command stated on Thursday that the three suspected robbers were arrested after they broke into a house in Yola and robbed the occupants of their belongings. They similarly forced their way into a shop in the same neighbourhood and carted away several commodities. “Three notorious Shilla Boys who have been on the wanted list of the command have been apprehended,” the police said in a statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje. The statement named the suspects as Zaiyat Abubakar, 29, Hassan Buhari, 19, and Suleiman S. Suleiman, 27, all residents of Yola North Local Government Area. “The suspects had on November 28, 2024, conspired and broke into the house of Bapetel Jidda and robbed his family members of their belongings using offensive weapons. “Similarly, on December 4, 2024, the same gang broke into a shop situated along the same area and stole many valuable items,” the police explained. The police added that, so far, some television sets, standing fans, stabilisers, and a deep fridge, among other items, have been recovered from the suspects. It's inevitable that as battery technology progresses, portable power stations will become more, well, portable. And the latest developments have seen a raft of new, compact power stations arriving in 2024 that can keep gadgets topped up without adding too much bulk to your backpack. The Anker brand Solix has been one of the latest companies to throw its hat into this particular ring, and it's doing things a bit differently. Unlike some small portable power stations, the new Solix C300 is tall, narrow and designed to be carried with a strap. That makes it more versatile, and the fact it's 15% smaller than its rivals really helps. There are two versions of the C300, one has a pair of AC sockets with a small inverter built in, the other has just a 12v selection of outputs. I've been testing the AC version for a while, using it to power and charge all sorts of devices, and it hasn't missed a beat. The inverter can cope with constant loads of up to 300 watts , or a surge of up to 600 watts, so it'll comfortably run any laptop, or even some power tools, or a projector. The USB sockets, of which there are four, can pump out 140 watts , which is impressive, and the battery has a 288Wh capacity , which is effectively the same as around 90,000mAh. So it has plenty of power for most of the devices you could plausibly take with you on an outdoor excursion, or a camping trip. And it weighs just 4kg. The DC version , without the two three-pin sockets, is even lighter, and that one comes with a clever pop-out lamp on the top . The AC version makes do with a light bar, but it's pretty bright. They both have Anker's LCD display on the front, which makes monitoring inputs and outputs really easy, with a clear indicator of how much charge is left in percentage terms. Recharging can be done through the USB sockets , more slowly through the car charging socket, through a solar input up to 100 watts or, in the case of the AC version , at 330 watts through an AC input. The DC version, however, can accept two charging loads through its USB-C sockets , instead of just one on the AC version. This means you can potentially hose in 280 watts. It won't charge quite as quickly as the AC version, then, but it's very impressive. In fact, I do think the DC version is the more versatile device , overall. It's a bit lighter and smaller, it has that neat pop-up lamp, and unless you really need an AC socket , it's just as useful. In fact, using an inverter is quite inefficient, and you'll have to cope with a phantom load just by turning it on. If you can, you should always use the 12V supply. And then there's the price. This is where it gets interesting. At the time of publication, the DC version costs £149.99, down from its usual £199.99. Meanwhile the AC version, usually priced at £269.99, costs £189.99. It makes it something of a dilemma for buyers, because there's only a £40 difference between the two. And that £40 gets you a robust inverter and two AC sockets. But, like I say, if you don't need AC power , if you can cope with some very powerful USB sockets and you'd prefer the lightness and smaller size, go for the DC version . You won't be disappointed. They're both really good bits of kit.

AZAMGARH: Phoolmati, 57, and her brother Laldhar, two years her elder, hugged for the first time in 49 years on Thursday. It was a poignant moment that had improbability written all over it since the day an eight-year-old girl in pigtails who still couldn't pronounce her father's name became a memory frozen in time - as much in her own mind as her family's. All that Phoolmati could recollect since her life took a fateful turn in 1975 were two names and a landmark - Chiutidand, her native village in UP; Ramchandar, her maternal uncle; and a well in the courtyard of her grandparents' house. A man dressed as a sadhu had convinced her to accompany him to a village fair, but took her to Moradabad instead, where she was "sold" to a much older groom. She became a mother to a son some years after the underage marriage, lost her husband not much later, and slipped into a life of struggle and drudgery that would have remained so but for an extraordinary twist that every lost-and-found story needs. Woman credits headmistress for reunion As Phoolmati's journey climaxed in a family reunion in Vedpur village of UP's Azamgarh, she poured her gratitude on the school headmistress who kickstarted the search for her antecedents and the police team that made it possible. Phoolmati, who cooks midday meals in a primary school at Pajawa in Rampur's Bilaspur, confided in Dr Pooja Rani about her early life. When the teacher searched "Chiutidand" on the web, she learnt that the village in Mau was earlier part of Azamgarh. She contacted Azamgarh Police and passed on the other details. Police ferried Phoolmati and her son Sompal to Vedpur to reunite her with her youngest brother Ramhit, 85. Stay updated with the latest news on Times of India . 7 Days Of National Mourning Declared; State Funeral For Dr. Manmohan SinghCOLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Dominic Zvada kicked a 21-yard field goal with 45 seconds left and Michigan stunned No. 2 Ohio State 13-10 on Saturday, likely ending the Buckeyes ’ hopes of returning to the Big Ten title game. Kalel Mullings broke away for a 27-yard run, setting up the Wolverines (7-5, 5-4) at Ohio State's 17-yard line with two minutes remaining in the game. The drive stalled at the 3, and Zvada came on for the chip shot. Ohio State (10-2, 7-2, No. 2 CFP) got the ball back but couldn't move it, with Will Howard throwing incomplete on fourth down to seal the Wolverines' fourth straight win over their bitter rival. “You come to Michigan to play this game,” Zvada said. “So, it's the biggest one of the year. It's the one that everyone looks forward to, and to be able to come in here and take the win, it's amazing.” This Ohio State loss in the “The Game” might have been the toughest of the past four because Michigan was unranked and wrapping up a disappointing season. The Wolverines were also playing without a couple of top players: tight end Colston Loveland and cornerback Will Johnson. The Buckeyes were favored by 21 points, the widest point spread for this rivalry since 1978, according to ESPN Stats and Info. Records — and point spreads, for that matter — rarely mean much when these two teams meet. “Our defense played outstanding," Michigan coach Sherrone Moore said. "We held a high-powered offense to 10 points, 77 rushing yards.” The Buckeyes were off all afternoon. Howard was 19 for 33 for 175 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions and Jayden Fielding missed two field-goal attempts. The run game was hardly there. “It's hard, man,” an emotional Howard said. “I really don’t have much right now. I do know we're a two-loss team. We're going to get into the playoffs and make a run. But, I mean, this one hurts.” Mullings was Michigan's primary weapon. He rushed for 116 yards and the Wolverines only touchdown of the game in the first half as neither team could get much going offensively on the frigid afternoon. “They made plays, we made plays, so as the game wore on you could definitely, slowly feel them starting to lose confidence, lose that energy and lose that faith,” Mullings said. Howard was clunky all day. In the first half he threw an interception from deep in his own territory that led to Michigan's touchdown. He went out for a play in the second quarter to be checked for a head injury. After the game, he said he was fine. “We're very disappointed, and never thought this would happen right here,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “We expected to win this game and go play in the Big Ten championship game.” After the game, Michigan players attempted to plant their flag at midfield and were confronted by Ohio State players. A skirmish ensued as both teams pushed and shoved before being separated. Michigan: Did just enough and caught Ohio State on an off day. Ohio State: It's inexplicable how badly the Buckeyes played in their biggest game of the season. They would need No. 4 Penn State and No. 10 Indiana to lose later Saturday in order to make it into the Big Ten title game next week. The Buckeyes will fall. There has been talk all season about how many of the Ohio State team leaders, including receiver Emeka Egbuka, running back TreVeyon Henderson and defensive end Jack Sawyer, chose to return for another year instead of entering the NFL draft because they wanted to beat Michigan at least once. Those players were inconsolable after the game. One of them, linebacker Cody Simon, was asked how he felt. “I just can't speak that right now,” Simon said. “I feel like we let the whole Buckeye nation down.” Michigan will wait for a minor bowl game. Ohio State, assuming either Penn State or Indiana wins on Saturday, will see how the final College Football Playoff rankings shakeout on Dec. 8. The Minnesota Twins have reportedly agreed to a new deal with one of their top bullpen arms, at least on paper. On Friday, KSTP Sports' Darren "Doogie" Wolfson reported that the Twins and relief pitcher Brock Stewart agreed to a one-year contract worth $870,000, with up to $30,000 in incentives. The agreement allows both sides to avoid arbitration. Follow Inside the Twins on Facebook Hear Brock Stewart, #MNTwins agree at $870K. Can earn an additional $30K in incentives. Stewart, 33, has been fantastic the past two seasons when healthy. The problem, like for several other Twins players, is he hasn't been healthy very often. Related: Minnesota Twins add only 2 prospects to 40-man ahead of Rule 5 deadline In 2023, he appeared in 28 games for Minnesota, posting a 0.65 ERA with 39 strikeouts in 27.2 innings, but missed from June 27 through Sept. 25 due to right elbow soreness. This past season, he didn’t allow a run until his 13th appearance and again posted great strikeout numbers but missed 12 weeks with shoulder tendinitis, then missed the rest of the season with a shoulder strain after returning for three rough outings in July. His raw stuff is filthy, pairing a high-90s fastball with a good sweeper, plus a sinker, cutter and changeup to mix in. However, the Twins desperately need him to stay healthy. Related: With pinched payroll, Twins have hardly any offseason spending room On paper, the Twins have an elite bullpen, with Stewart and Jorge Alcala behind Griffin Jax and Jhoan Duran. Thanks to health issues and inconsistency, Minnesota's bullpen posted a 4.12 ERA last season, 19th in MLB. The Twins still have several other arbitration-eligible players to negotiate with this offseason. Stewart has two more years of control after 2025. Jesse Johnson-Imagn Images
