DRDO's CAS Hosts Workshop Celebrating 1,000 Hypersonic Tests on Space VehiclesBy Nicole Jao NEW YORK (Reuters) -Oil futures fell nearly 2% on Wednesday as investors awaited an imminent OPEC+ decision on production cuts, while a larger-than-expected draw in U.S. crude stockpiles last week lent some support to prices. Brent crude futures fell $1.31, or 1.78%, to settle at $72.31 a barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude futures fell $1.40, or 2%, to $68.54. On Tuesday, Brent posted its biggest gain in two weeks, rising by 2.5%. The market was on tenterhooks, with investors focused on the upcoming OPEC+ meeting, analysts said. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies in OPEC+ meet on Thursday, and are likely extend output cuts until the end of the first quarter of next year, industry sources told Reuters. “While a delay to unwinding production cuts is expected, the rhetoric out of the meeting is going to have the biggest sway,” said Matt Smith, Kpler lead Americas oil analyst. OPEC+ has been looking to phase out supply cuts through next year. A single bank sold a large volume of U.S. oil futures contracts in early afternoon trading on Wednesday, a source told Reuters, pushing prices down more than 1% within minutes and causing traders to scramble to decipher the reason. U.S. crude stocks fell more than expected last week as refiners ramped up operations, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) said. Gasoline and distillate stockpiles rose by more than expected during the week. “A pop in refining activity with runs climbing to a high not seen since the summer has resulted in a see-saw of crude inventories drawing and products building,” Smith said. The bullish momentum only lent some support to prices. A shaky ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah, South Korea’s curtailed declaration of martial law and a rebel offensive in Syria that threatens to draw in forces from several oil-producing countries all lent support to oil prices, said Priyanka Sachdeva, senior market analyst at Phillip Nova. In the Middle East, Israel said on Tuesday it would return to war with Hezbollah if their truce collapses and that its attacks would go deeper into Lebanon and target the state itself. In South Korea, lawmakers have submitted a bill to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol after his declaration of martial law on Tuesday, which was reversed within hours, sparking a political crisis in Asia’s fourth-largest economy. Robinhood Markets (NASDAQ:HOOD) Price Target Raised to $51.00[ Ed. note: This post contains spoilers for the end of Squid Game season 2.] Squid Game season 2 has come to an end with a bit of a bang and a whimper. Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) has effectively lost his attempt at gaining control of the game, and the aggressive cut on the ending leaves a lot to be desired. (For me; no shade, I just desire to see more.) Luckily, Squid Game season 3 is already on its way — and might already be in the can, with a release date promised in 2025. Here’s everything we know about the new season of the hit show. Is there going to be a Squid Game season 3? Yes! In a July letter announcing the release date for season 2 , showrunner Hwang Dong-hyuk announced that Squid Game had been picked up for a third and final season already. When will Squid Game season 3 come out? This is a little more up in the air. The initial announcement said 2025. So far there’s been no specific date, but with production for the third season reportedly having already been rolled into season 2 , it could be any time . Not really (Netflix likes to make a splash of things) — that’s more to say, if it’s already in the can, that the new season isn’t going to have to wait on a longer schedule to get turned around. It’s possible we get season 3 sometime in the summer, rather than waiting until a full year from now. What will season 3 of Squid Game be about? Well, it’s certainly going to have to pick up the pieces: Gi-hun tried to lead a rebellion and take down the games from the inside. That went poorly, to put it mildly. It cost his most enthusiastic allies their lives, including his best friend Jung-bae (Lee Seo-hwan). There’s still a large contingent of players hiding out in the barracks, and who even knows what kinds of games they’re going to get put through after this. Plus, the Front Man (Lee Byung-hun) has decidedly switched back into his main persona, deserting his role as Player 001 to stand imposingly over a weeping Gi-hun. So it seems like the safest guess in the world that season 3 of Squid Game will pick up with those in the games — on both sides of the divide — possibly moments after where season 2 left us. After all, there’s plenty to still figure out, like: What happens to the games now? How much of this did the Front Man anticipate? Where do the other players, each desperate for their own rescue (financial or otherwise), land in all this? Will the rich people who run the games be upset? What does Gi-hun do now? Will Squid Game season 3 be the last season? It will be the final season of the show. Considering Squid Game was originally meant to just be a single season, that’s pretty good! Especially since Hwang feels the finale — whatever it may be — flowed organically from the writing. “When I was thinking about the idea for the ending of season three, I think it sort of naturally came to me that this was the finale,” Hwang said . “I believed that with that story, I was able to tell everything that I wanted to tell through the story of Squid Game and also in the perspective of Gi-hun as a character, and I thought that we don’t need any further stories from here.” What games will be in Squid Game season 3? Squid Game season 2 threw a bit of a wrench into Gi-hun’s plans: Although he briefly thought he could simply save everyone by helping them get through the games together with his inside knowledge, it turned out that after Red Light, Green Light there was a whole new batch of games awaiting him. So, assuming the games move forward (even just for a single level — which, given the number of people left, seems like the exact sort of cruel thing the game makers would do), what childhood game will they subject people to? The stakes have never seemed bloodier or less hopeful, so it seems like the game makers might trot out something truly sick, like Double Dutch. Entertainment News TV
Drones for commercial and recreational use have grown rapidly in popularity, despite restrictions on who can operate them and where they can be flown. No-fly zones are enforced around airports, military installations, nuclear plants, certain landmarks including the Statue of Liberty, and sports stadiums during games. Not everybody follows the rules. Sightings at airports have shut down flights in a few instances. Reported sightings of what appear to be drones flying over New Jersey at night in recent weeks have created anxiety among some residents, in part because it is not clear who is operating them or why. Some state and local officials have called for stricter rules to govern drones. After receiving reports of drone activity last month near Morris County, New Jersey, the Federal Aviation Administration issued temporary bans on drone flights over a golf course in Bedminster , New Jersey, that is owned by President-elect Donald Trump, and over Picatinny Arsenal Military Base . The FAA says the bans are in response to requests from “federal security partners.” The FAA is responsible for the regulations governing their use , and Congress has written some requirements into law. With a 2018 law, the Preventing Emerging Threats Act, Congress gave certain agencies in the Homeland Security and Justice departments authority to counter threats from unmanned aircraft to protect the safety of certain facilities. New drones must be outfitted with equipment allowing law enforcement to identify the operator, and Congress gave the agencies the power to detect and take down unmanned aircraft that they consider dangerous. The law spells out where the counter-drone measures can be used, including “national special security events” such as presidential inaugurations and other large gatherings of people. To get a “remote pilot certificate,” you must be at least 16 years old, be proficient in English, pass an aeronautics exam, and not suffer from a ”mental condition that would interfere with the safe operation of a small unmanned aircraft system.” Yes, but the FAA imposes restrictions on nighttime operations. Most drones are not allowed to fly at night unless they are equipped with anti-collision lights that are visible for at least 3 miles (4.8 kilometers). Over the past decade, pilots have reported hundreds of close calls between drones and airplanes including airline jets. In some cases, airplane pilots have had to take evasive action to avoid collisions. Drones buzzing over a runway caused flights to be stopped at London’s Gatwick Airport during the Christmas travel rush in 2018 and again in May 2023 . Police dismissed the idea of shooting down the drones, fearing that stray bullets could kill someone. Advances in drone technology have made it harder for law enforcement to find rogue drone operators — bigger drones in particular have more range and power. Some state and local officials in New Jersey are calling for stronger restrictions because of the recent sightings, and that has the drone industry worried. Scott Shtofman, director of government affairs at the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International, said putting more limits on drones could have a “chilling effect” on “a growing economic engine for the United States.” “We would definitely oppose anything that is blindly pushing for new regulation of what are right now legal drone operations,” he said. AirSight, a company that sells software against “drone threats,” says more than 20 states have enacted laws against privacy invasion by drones, including Peeping Toms. Will Austin, president of Warren County Community College in New Jersey, and founder of its drone program, says it's up to users to reduce public concern about the machines. He said operators must explain why they are flying when confronted by people worried about privacy or safety. “It's a brand new technology that's not really understood real well, so it will raise fear and anxiety in a lot of people,” Austin said. “We want to be good professional aviators and alleviate that.” Associated Press reporter Rebecca Santana in Washington, D.C., contributed.15 Walmart Fashion Finds From Free People, Levi's and More
